Age-dependent changes in the association between sleep duration and impaired glucose metabolism

AIM To investigate whether the association between sleep duration and impaired glucose metabolism varies among younger and older *** We reviewed data of self-reported habitual sleep duration per night, HbA1c levels, and clinically relevant factors in a cross-sectional checkup database of 75472 Japanese from the general population aged 20-79 years(51695 men and 23777 women). Associations of prediabetes(HbA1c ≥ 5.7% and/or diabetic pharmacotherapy) or diabetes(HbA1c ≥ 6.5% and/or diabetic pharmacotherapy) with short and long sleep durations compared with a reference sleep duration(7 h) were investigated by multivariate logistic regression analysis. We controlled for potential relevant confounders, including age, sex, and work duration per day according to younger and older *** As age advanced, sleep duration became longer and this increase in the 40 s and 50 s was two times greater in men than in women. This finding was accompanied by a deterioration in HbA1c levels. In subjects aged youngerthan 40 years(n = 32929), HbA1c levels were inversely and linearly correlated with sleep duration in both sexes. However, in subjects aged 40 years or older(n = 42543), HbA1c levels showed a non-linear relationship against sleep duration with a nadir at 7 h. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that in younger subjects, short durations of sleep(≤ 5 h and 6 h) were positively associated with prediabetes(both P < 0.001), but a long duration of sleep(≥ 8 h) was inversely associated with prediabetes(P < 0.001). These associations remained significant after adjustment for relevant confounders, including age, sex, and work duration per day(ORs = 1.20, 95%CI: 1.05-1.37, P < 0.001; ORs = 1.12, 95%CI: 1.02-1.24, P < 0.05; and ORs = 0.84, 95%CI: 0.72-0.99, P < 0.05, respectively). Scheduling optimization of task allocation in integrated manufacturing system based on task decomposition

How to deal with the collaboration between task decomposition and task scheduling is the key problem of the integrated manufacturing system for complex products. With the development of manufacturing technology, we can probe a new way to solve this problem. Firstly, a new method for task granularity quantitative analysis is put forward, which can precisely evaluate the task granularity of complex product cooperation workflow in the integrated manufacturing system, on the above basis; this method is used to guide the coarse-grained task decomposition and recombine the subtasks with low cohesion coefficient. Then, a multi-objective optimieation model and an algorithm are set up for the scheduling optimization of task scheduling. Finally, the application feasibility of the model and algorithm is ultimately validated through an application case study.

Background: Obesity is a chronic complex disease defined by excessive fat deposits that can impair health. Obesity occurs as a result of an imbalance in diet (energy intake) and physical activity (energy expended), multifactorial diseases due to obesogenic environment (availability of convenience food, media influence, etc.), psycho-social factors (social support systems, cultural/environmental influence, etc.) and genetic variants. Other causes are a subgroup of etiological factors (medications, diseases, immobilization, iatrogenic procedures, monogenic disease/genetic syndrome). Obesity is measured clinically by several common tools apart from body mass index (BMI), such as waist circumference (WC), waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), waist-to-height ratio, and neck circumference. WC and WHR are common tools for measuring central obesity while BMI measures generalized obesity. Aims: The goal of this study is to assess the prevalence of obesity amongst health workers of David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital, Uburu, Ebonyi state, Southeast Nigeria and to note the prevailing factors. A reliable estimate of the prevalence of obesity among health workers will contribute to the statistics needed to sway policymakers in the country to take urgent and substantial action on the increasing prevalence of obesity, especially in the healthcare industry. Methodology: The study was carried out between May 2024 and June 2024 at the David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital situated in Uburu, Ohaozara Local government area of Ebonyi state, Southeast Nigeria. The questionnaire was designed using the Finnish diabetic risk score (FINDRISC). It contained basic comprehending questions on age, gender, exposure to high blood pressure medication, and anthropometric measurement amongst others. Relationship between Psychological Security and Fear of Missing Out among University Students:A Moderated Mediation Model

Background:As the digital age progresses,fear of missing out(FoMO)is becoming increasingly common,and the impact factor of FOMO needs to be further *** study aims to explore the relationship between psychological security(PS)and FoMO by analyzing the mediating role of social networking addiction(SNA)and the moderating role of social self-efficacy(SSE).Methods:We collected a sample of 1181 college students(with a mean age of 19.671.38 years)from five universities in a province of China's Mainland through cluster ***±were gathered using the psychological security questionnaire(PSQ),the FoMO scale,the SNA scale,and the perceived social self-efficacy(PSSE)*** analysis employed independent-sample t-tests,one-way analysis of variance(ANOVA),Harman’s single-factor test,confirmatory factor analysis,and moderated mediation ***:The results of the mediation model and moderated mediation model analyses showed the following key findings:(1)PS is significantly negatively correlated with FoMO;(2)SNA mediates the relationship between PS and FoMO;(3)SSE positively moderates the relationship between PS and FoMO;and(4)SSE also positively moderates the relationship between PS and ***:University students’PS not only directly impacts FoMO but also indirectly influences it through ***,SSE positively moderates both the direct path and the first half of the mediation path,indicating that enhancing students’PS and SSE can help alleviate their SNA and FoMO,promoting their psychological and behavioral well-being.
