The purpose of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the effects of acute exercise on short-term memory *** computerized literature searches using electronic databases and examinations of reference lists from relevant studies yielded six studies meeting our inclusionary *** a total of six studies,16 standardized regression coefficient effect sizes(ESs)were calculated to be *** meta-analyses showed a statistically significant increase in short-term memory improvement across both the exercise and non-exercise control groups in trials 1-5[ES=0.96,95%CI(0.95,0.97),P<0.001].However,there was no significant subgroup difference between exercise and control groups(Q_(b)=0.40,df=1,P=0.53).Our meta-analytic review provides suggestive evidence that an acute bout of exercise prior to learning does not result in short-term memory improvement to a greater extent than a non-exercise *** research is needed to further evaluate whether acute exercise enhances long-term memory via enhanced learning and/or post-learning mechanisms.

To examine the contralateral repeated bout effect(CL-RBE)on muscle damage markers and motor unit(MU)control strategies,seventeen healthy adults performed two bouts of 60 eccentric contractions with elbow flexor(EF group;n=9)or index finger abductor(IA group;n=8)muscles,separated by 1 *** participants randomly performed eccentric exercise on either the right or left arm or hand muscles,and muscle damage markers and submaximal trapezoid contraction tests were conducted pre,post,1-and 2-day post eccentric *** week after the first bout,the same exercise protocol and measurements were performed on the contralateral *** electromyographic(EMG)signals were collected from biceps brachii(BB)or first dorsal interosseous(FDI)during maximal and submaximal *** linear regression analyses were used to examine MU recruitment threshold versus mean firing rate and recruitment threshold versus derecruitment threshold *** amplitude from BB(bout 1 *** 2=65.71%±22.92%vs.43.05%±18.97%,p=0.015,d=1.077)and the y-intercept(group merged)from the MU recruitment threshold versus derecruitment threshold relationship(bout 1 *** 2=7.10±14.20 vs.0.73±16.24,p=0.029,d=0.513)at 50%MVIC were significantly different between two ***,other muscle damage markers did not show any CL-RBE in both muscle ***,despite changes in muscle excitation and MU firing behavior,our results do not support the existence of CL-RBE on BB and FDI muscles.

We compared the effects of low intensity concentric(CON)and eccentric(ECC)exercise on the force and neural responses of the dominant(exercised)elbow flexors(EFs),and studied if these conditions could induce cross-over effects to the contralateral(non-exercised)*** subjects(8 males)completed all conditions(CON and ECC:6 sets of low intensity exercise to failure;control:rest)in separate visits with a randomized *** isometric force and electromyography(EMG)of the dominant and contralateral EFs were assessed at pre,immediate-,24-,and ***-factor(condition and time)linear mixed-model analyses were performed to examine the force and EMG *** post CON,contralateral EFs force was significantly(p=0.026)higher(12.41%)than control,but no cross-over effects regarding the neural responses were *** post ECC,dominant EFs force was significantly lower in ECC,compared to CON(p=0.003)and control(p<0.001).This force remained depressed at 24-and 48-h post ECC,when compared to CON(p<0.001)and control(p<0.001).Our data suggests that submaximal unilateral exercises are not likely to impair contralateral muscle strength ***,concentric exercises may acutely improve muscle strength for the contralateral ***,this effect is not explained by changes in muscle excitation.

Heavy concrete currently used for construction contains special materials that are expensive and difficult to work *** study replaced natural aggregate（stones） in concrete with round steel balls,which are inexpensive and easily *** diameters of the steel balls were 0.5 and 1 cm,and their density was 7.8 kg/*** packing mixture methods were used to produce heavy concrete with densities of 3500 and 5000 kg/*** various properties of this concrete were tested according to the standards of the American Society for Testing and Materials（ASTM）.The results indicated that the construction slump of the concrete could reach 260-280 mm and its slump flow could reach 610-710 *** important,its compressive strength could reach 8848 *** results will significantly alter traditional construction methods that use heavy concrete and enhance innovative ideas for structural design.

Background:No studies have compared effectiveness of resistance training and Tai Ji exercise on relieving symptoms of knee osteoarthritis(OA).The purpose of the study was to evaluate effects of a 10-week Tai Ji and resistance training intervention on improving OA symptoms and mobility in seniors with knee ***:Thirty-one seniors(60-85 years)were randomly assigned to a Tai Ji program(n=12),a resistance training program(n=13),and a control group(n=6).All participants completed the Western Ontario and McMaster(WOMAC)Osteoarthritis Index and performed three physical performance tests(6-min walk,timed-up-and-go,and timed stair climb and descent)before and after the 10-week ***:The participants in the resistance training group significantly improved on the timed-up-and-go test(p<0.001),the WOMAC pain subscore(p=0.006),WOMAC stiffness sub-score(p<0.001),and WOMAC physical function sub-score(p=0.011).The Tai Ji group significantly improved on the timed-up-and-go test(p<0.001),but not on the WOMAC ***:Resistance training was effective for improving mobility and improving the symptoms of knee *** Ji was also effective for improving mobility,but did not improve knee OA symptoms.

This study examines the role of social connections and network centrality in attracting funders to crowdfunding *** classify social connections as either external(e.g.,Facebook)or internal(e.g.,investing in online platforms through resource exchange).Drawing from the 108,463 crowdfunding campaigns on the online platform Kickstarter from April 21,2009,to July 24,2019,we apply external linkages and online followers to estimate the effect of external social *** construct a digraph network for the internal social connections and use PageRank,HITS,and centrality to obtain the weights of the ***,we compare the performance change of several prediction algorithms by feeding social connection-related *** study has several ***,for external social connections,having more online followers improves the funding success rate of a ***,for internal social connections,only authority and degree in centrality positively affect the number of funders and the campaign’s financing progress among the weights of the ***,using social connection variables improves the prediction algorithms for funding ***,external social connections exert greater funding outcomes than internal social ***,entrepreneurs should extend their external social connections to their internal social connections,and network centrality expedites project ***,the effect of social connections on fundraising outcomes varies among the campaign *** who are online influencers should leverage their online social connections,notably for the project categories that matter.
