Effect of Human Cytomegalovirus on Invasive Capability of Early Pregnant Extravillous Cytotrophoblasts

The effect of human cytomegalovirus （HCMV） on invasive capability of early pregnant extravillous cytotrophoblasts （EVTs） was investigated in vitro. Primary EVTs were obtained by complex phosphoesterasum digestion and gradient centrifugation from villous tissue aseptically taken from healthy pregnant women. Cytokeratin7 （CK7）, vimentin （Vim） and cerbB-2 were immunocytochemically detected to identify source of cells, and HCMVpp65 antigen was assayed to determine the infection state of primary EVTs by immunocytochemical staining. The EVTs were divided into two groups： control group and HCMV group, and the expression of c-erbB-2, matrix metalloproteinase-2 （MMP-2） and MMP-9 proteins was detected in two groups by immunocytochemistry and western blotting. Enzymic activity changes of MMP-2 and MMP-9 were tested by gelatin zymography in primary EVTs infected with HCMV. The invasion of primary EVTs was detected by cell invasion assay in vitro after they were infected by HCMV. The cell source identification showed that the cells obtained were highly-pure primary EVTs, and primary EVTs could be infected by HCMV. Primary EVTs could express c-erbB-2, MMP-2 and MMP-9 proteins, and as compared with control group, the protein expression was decreased significantly in HCMV groups （P〈0.05）. Primary EVTs could secrete active MMP-2 and MMP-9 in vitro, and the activity of two MMPs was decreased sig- nificantly in HCMV groups （P〈0.05）. The in vitro cell invasion assay showed that the number of primary EVTs permeating Matrigel in HCMV group was decreased （P〈0.05）. We are led to conclude that HCMV can infect primary EVTs and inhibit their invasion capability, suggesting that the im- paired EVT＇s invasion capability might be related to the abnormal expression of c-erbB-2, MMP-2 and MMP-9 proteins.

Variations of sea ice in the Antarctic and Arctic from 1997-2006

Sea ice in polar areas is an important part of the global climate system. In order to obtain variations in sea ice extent for the Antarctic and Arctic, this paper analyzed the Special Sensor Microwave/Imager （SSM/I） sea ice data product dating from March 1, 1997 to December 31, 2006. During this period, the sea Antarctic with the trend ice extent increased in the of （0.5467±0.4933）× 10^4 ***^-1, and decreased in the Arctic with the trend of （-7.6125±0.3503）× 10^4 ***^-1. In different sectors of the Antarctic, variations of the sea ice extent are different. The sea ice extent increased in the Weddell Sea and Indian Ocean, but decreased in the Ross Sea, western Pacific Ocean, and Bellingshausen/Amundsen Seas.

The aim of the present study is to investigate the brain functional network changes of patients with frontal lobe epilepsy(FLE)by resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging(rsfMRI)and graph theoretical *** is performed in 46 adult patients with FLE and 46 age matched healthy controls(HCs).A functional network is built from these subjects,and the topological properties of such network are analyzed quantitatively using graph theoretical *** to the results,both FLE patients and HCs exhibit prominent small world *** with HCs,FLE shows a decrease in local efficiency(Eloc),clustering coefficient,nodal efficiency as well as nodal ***,FLE(seven)has fewer hubs than HCs(ten).The functional abnormalities in the network organization suggest functional disturbances in patients with *** study helps to gain new insights into the functional disorder in patients with *** networks built here can also be a set of potential biomarkers for the diagnosis,monitoring and the treatment of FLE.

Intercultural trust in global contexts plays a central role in helping people from different cultures to communicate comfortably,which is essential for *** to construct a framework that might foster international cooperation,and thus be helpful for coping with global emergencies,we relate a western nomological approach to an Eastern systems approach to analyse intercultural trust in global *** cultural impacts on intercultural trust and the nomological framework of cultural differences,we propose an intercultural trust model to interpret how cultural differences influence trust.A qualitative study of Chinese-Irish interactions was conducted to interpret this *** organized 10 seminars on intercultural trust,and interviewed 16 people to further explore the respondents'deeper feelings and experiences about intercultural trust in global *** this study,we have identified factors impacting on intercultural trust,and found that intercultural trust can be developed and improved in various *** llustrate these ways,we have provided tactics and methods for building intercultural trust in global *** are highlighted for organizations to avoid cultural clashes and relevant political or economic risks.

SAR image de-noising based on texture strength and weighted nuclear norm minimization

As synthetic aperture radar（SAR） has been widely used nearly in every field, SAR image de-noising became a very important research field. A new SAR image de-noising method based on texture strength and weighted nuclear norm minimization（WNNM） is proposed. To implement blind de-noising, the accurate estimation of noise variance is very important. So far, it is still a challenge to estimate SAR image noise level accurately because of the rich texture. Principal component analysis（PCA） and the low rank patches selected by image texture strength are used to estimate the noise level. With the help of noise level, WNNM can be expected to SAR image de-noising. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms many excellent de-noising algorithms such as Bayes least squares-Gaussian scale mixtures（BLS-GSM） method, non-local means（NLM） filtering in terms of both quantitative measure and visual perception quality.

Oral mucosal and salivary lipids exhibit potent antimicrobial activity for a variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria;however,little is known about their spectrum of antimicrobial activity or mechanisms of action against oral *** this study,we examine the activity of two fatty acids and three sphingoid bases against Porphyromonas gingivalis,an important colonizer of the oral cavity implicated in *** inhibitory concentrations,minimal bactericidal concentrations,and kill kinetics revealed variable,but potent,activity of oral mucosal and salivary lipids against ***,indicating that lipid structure may be an important determinant in lipid mechanisms of activity against bacteria,although specific components of bacterial membranes are also likely *** micrographs showed ultrastructural damage induced by sapienic acid and phytosphingosine and confirmed disruption of the bacterial plasma *** information,coupled with the association of treatment lipids with *** lipids revealed via thin layer chromatography,suggests that the plasma membrane is a likely target of lipid antibacterial *** a combination of two-dimensional in-gel electrophoresis and western blot followed by mass spectroscopy and N-terminus degradation sequencing we also show that treatment with sapienic acid induces upregulation of a set of proteins comprising a unique *** stress response,including proteins important in fatty acid biosynthesis,metabolism and energy production,protein processing,cell adhesion and *** or therapeutic lipid treatments may be beneficial for intervention of infection by supplementing the natural immune function of endogenous lipids on mucosal surfaces.

Moxibustion upregulates hippocampal progranulin expression

In China,moxibustion is reported to be useful and has few side effects for chronic fatigue syndrome,but its mechanisms are largely *** recently,the focus has been on the wealth of information supporting stress as a factor in chronic fatigue syndrome,and largely concerns dysregulation in the stress-related hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal *** the present study,we aimed to determine the effect of moxibustion on behavioral symptoms in chronic fatigue syndrome rats and examine possible *** were subjected to a combination of chronic restraint stress and forced swimming to induce chronic fatigue *** acupoints Guanyuan（CV4） and Zusanli（ST36,bilateral） were simultaneously administered *** chronic fatigue syndrome rats and normal rats were used as *** from the forced swimming test,open field test,tail suspension test,real-time PCR,enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay,and western blot assay showed that moxibustion treatment decreased m RNA expression of corticotropin-releasing hormone in the hypothalamus,and adrenocorticotropic hormone and corticosterone levels in plasma,and markedly increased progranulin m RNA and protein expression in the *** findings suggest that moxibustion may relieve the behavioral symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome,at least in part,by modulating the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and upregulating hippocampal progranulin.
