Serum metabolism alteration behind different etiology, diagnosis, and prognosis of disorders of consciousness

Background Patients with disorders of consciousness (DoC) exhibit varied revival outcomes based on different etiologies and diagnoses, the mechanisms of which remain largely unknown. The fluctuating clinical presentations in DoC pose challenges in accurately assessing consciousness levels and prognoses, often leading to misdiagnoses. There is an urgent need for a deeper understanding of the physiological changes in DoC and the development of objective diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers to improve treatment *** To explore biomarkers and understand the biological processes, we conducted a comprehensive untargeted metabolomic analysis on serum samples from 48 patients with DoC. Patients were categorized based on etiology (TBI vs. non-TBI), CRS-R scores, and prognosis. Advanced analytical techniques, including PCA and OPLS-DA models, were employed to identify differential *** Our analysis revealed a distinct separation in metabolomic profiles among the different groups. The primary differential metabolites distinguishing patients with varying etiologies were predominantly phospholipids, with a notable decrease in glycerophospholipids observed in the TBI group. Patients with higher CRS-R scores exhibited a pattern of impaired carbohydrate metabolism coupled with enhanced lipid metabolism. Notably, serum concentrations of both LysoPE and PE were reduced in patients with improved outcomes, suggesting their potential as prognostic *** Our study underscores the critical role of phospholipid metabolism in the brain’s metabolic alterations in patients with DoC. AIM:To investigate the clinical features of the ocular surface in patients with different degrees of ***:A cross-sectional study was conducted involving 122 participants with myopia in Beijing Tongren hospital from February to June,*** completing the Ocular Surface disease Index(OSDI)score scale,measurements were taken for refraction,biometric parameters and ocular surface *** prevalence,severity and related parameters of the dry eye among different groups based on axial length(AL)were *** analysis was performed between ocular surface parameters and refraction/biometric measurement ***:Statistically significant differences were observed in refractive error,corneal thickness,anterior chamber depth,and subfoveal choroidal thickness among the groups(all P<0.05).With the increase in AL,the incidence and severity of dry eye increased significantly(P<0.05).Moreover,the tear film break-up time(BUT)shortened(P<0.05),and the corneal fluorescein staining(CFS)points increased significantly(P<0.05).OSDI scores were positively correlated with AL and spherical equivalent(SE;both P<0.05);BUT was negatively correlated with AL,SE,and corneal astigmatism(AST;all P<0.05);Schirmer I test(SIT)results were negatively correlated with AL and SE(both P<0.05).CONCLUSION:AL elongation is a risk factor for dry eye onset in myopic *** longer the AL,the more severe the dry eye is,with the increased CFS spots and tear film ***,SE and AST exhibit negative correlations with dry eye symptom scores and ocular surface parameters.

OBJECTIVE: To establish a standardized framework encompassing the precise locations, manipulations,functions and indications of specific acupoints in the field of paediatric Tuina. METHODS: The development of consensus involved three distinct stages. Initially, a list of paediatric Tuina specific acupoints was compiled based on an extensive literature review, which was subsequently supplemented through expert interviews. In the second stage, the Delphi method was employed to assess the significance of acupoint locations, manipulations, functions, and indications. In situations where the questionnaire survey failed to yield agreement or when the experts held reservations, the nominal group approach was utilized during the expert consensus meeting. The final version of the technical standardized material was ultimately determined during an expert consensus conference. After undergoing external peer review and evaluation, the completed draft was prepared for public dissemination RESULTS: The comprehensive list identified a total of 66 specific acupoints. The location and manipulation questionnaire consisted of 156 items based on the literature database, while the function and indication questionnaire contained 116 items. Two rounds of Delphi surveys were conducted for the location and manipulation category, and another two rounds of Delphi surveys were conducted for the function and indication category. During the experts consensus meeting The panel of experts conducted in-depth discussions on 61 questions, resulting in the formulation of technical guidelines for the locations, manipulations, functions, and indications of 64 paediatric Tuina acupoints. Subsequently, the research team compiled and edited the draft of the technical guidelines for acupoints of paediatric Tuina, which was finalized after external review and feedback.
