An innovative trigeneration system using biogas as renewable energy

One of the ways to decrease the global primary energy consumption and the corresponding greenhouse gas emissions is the application of the combined cooling, heating and power generation technologies, known as trigeneration system. In this research an innovative trigeneration system, composed by an absorption heat pump, a mechanical compression heat pump, a steam plant, and a heat recovery plant is developed. The low tem- perature heat produced by absorption chiller is sent to a mechanical compression heat pump, that receives pro- cess water at low temperature from the heat recovery plant and bring it to higher temperatures. The trigeneration system is fed by biogas, a renewable energy. A design and a simulation of the system are developed by ChemCad 6.3 software. The plant produces 925 kW of electrical energy, 2523 kW of thermal energy and 473 kW of cooling energy, by the combustion of 3280 kW of biogas. Primary energy rate （P.E.R.） is equal 1.04 and a sensitivity analysis is carried out to evaluate the effect of cooling capacity, produced electrical energy and process water temperature. The first has a negative effect, while other parameters have a positive effect on P.E.R. Compared to a cogeneration system, the tdgeneration plant produces the 28% higher of power and the 40% lower of carbon dioxide emissions. An economic analysis shows that the plant is economically feasible only consid- ering economic incentives obtained by the use of heat pumps and steam plant at high efficiency. Saving 6431 t.a-1 corresponding to 658000 EUR.a-1 of incentives, the plant has a net present value （N.P.V.） and a pay back period （P.B.P.） respectively equal to 371000 EUR and 4 year. Future works should optimize the process considering cost and energetic efficiency as the two objective functions.

Mathematical model of absorption and hybrid heat pump

New approach to eliminate structural redundancy in case resource pools using α mutual information

Structural redundancy elimination in case resource pools （CRP） is critical for avoiding performance bottlenecks and maintaining robust decision capabilities in cloud computing services. For these purposes, this paper proposes a novel approach to ensure redundancy elimination of a reasoning system in CRP. By using α entropy and mutual information, functional measures to eliminate redundancy of a system are developed with respect to a set of outputs. These measures help to distinguish both the optimal feature and the relations among the nodes in reasoning networks from the redundant ones with the elimination criterion. Based on the optimal feature and its harmonic weight, a model for knowledge reasoning in CRP （CRPKR） is built to complete the task of query matching, and the missing values are estimated with Bayesian networks. Moreover, the robustness of decisions is verified through parameter analyses. This approach is validated by the simulation with benchmark data sets using cloud SQL. Compared with several state-of-the-art techniques, the results show that the proposed approach has a good performance and boosts the robustness of decisions.

Ru/NiMnB spherical cluster pillar for highly proficient green hydrogen electrocatalyst at high current density

Advanced OER/HER electrocatalytic alternatives are crucial for the wide adaptation of green hydrogen ***,Ru/NiMnB spherical cluster pillar （SCP）,denoted as Ru/NiMnB,is synthesized using a combination of electro-deposition and hydrothermal *** investigation of Ru doping in the NiMnB matrix revealed significant improvements in electrocatalytic *** Ru/NiMnB SCPs demonstrate superior OER/HER activity with low overpotentials of 150 and 103 mV at 50mA/cm2in 1 M KOH,making them highly competitive with state-of-the-art ***,the Ru/NiMnB SCPs exhibit a low 2-E cell voltage of 2.80 V at ultra-high current density of 2,000 m A/cm2in 1 M KOH,outperforming the standard benchmark electrodes of RuO2||Pt/C,thereby positioning Ru/NiMnB as one of the best bifunctional *** SCPs exhibit exceptional high-current characteristics,stability and corrosion resistance,as evidenced by continuous operation at 1,000 mA/cm2high-current density for over 150 h in 6 M KOH at elevated temperatures under harsh industrial *** a small amount of Ru incorporation significantly enhances the electrocatalytic performances of NiMnB,attributed to increased active sites and improved intrinsic properties such as conductivity,adsorption/desorption capability and reaction ***,Ru/NiMnB SCPs present a promising bi-functional electrode concept for efficient green H2production.

COLLABORATIVE DESIGN OF RFID SYSTEMS FOR MULTI-PURPOSE SUPPLY CHAIN APPLICATIONS

One of the key challenges for implementing RFID systems in supply chain management is the difficulty in economic justification. Such difficulty is further amplified by its public participation nature as multiple self-interest beneficiaries may receive diverse paybacks, and their incentives to join the system are difficult to align. This paper aims to address these problems by a collaborative design from two aspects. First, we propose to introduce a centralized planning mechanism in the chain to facilitate the participation, so that the cost of the overall system can be minimized. Second, we propose to analyze the multi-facet economic return from multi-purpose applications to achieve the full potential of RFID systems. To illustrate our approach, its application for inventory inaccuracy and product recall in RFID system is presented.

Modified Multivariate Process Capability Index Using Principal Component Analysis

The existing research of process capability indices of multiple quality characteristics mainly focuses on nonconforming of process output, the concept development of tmivariate process capability indices, quality loss function and various comprehensive evaluation methods. The multivariate complexity increases the computation difficulty of multivariate process capability indices（MPCI）, which makes them hard to be used in practice. In this paper, a new PCA-based MPCI approach is proposed to assess the production capability of the processes that involve multiple product quality characteristics. This approach first transforms the original quality variables into standardized normal variables. MPCI measures are then provided based on the Taam index. Moreover, the statistical properties of these MPCIs, such as confidence intervals and lower confidence bound, are given to let the practitioners understand the capability indices as random variables instead of deterministic variables. A real manufacturing data set and a synthetic data set are used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. An implementation procedure is also provided for quality engineers to apply our MPCI approach in their manufacturing processes. The case studies demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of this new kind of MPCI, which is easier to be used in production practice. The proposed research provides a novel approach of MPCI calculation.

REVISITING THE SIMILAR PROCESS TO ENGINEER THE CONTEMPORARY SYSTEMS

This paper addresses the present-day context of Systems engineering, revisiting and setting up an updated framework for the SIMILAR process in order to use it to engineer the contemporary systems. The contemporary world is crowded of large interdisciplinary complex systems made of other systems, personnel, hardware, software, information, processes, and facilities. An integrated holistic approach is crucial to develop these systems and take proper account of their multifaceted nature and numerous interrelationships. As the system＇s complexity and extent grow, the number of parties involved （stakeholders and shareholders） usually also raises, bringing to the interaction a considerable amount of points of view, skills, responsibilities, and interests. The Systems engineering approach aims to tackle the complex and interdisciplinary whole of those socio-technical systems, providing the means to enable their successful realization. Its exploitation in our modern world is assuming an increasing relevance noticeable by emergent standards, academic papers, international conferences, and post-graduate programmes in the field. This work aims to provide ＂the picture＂ of modern Systems engineering, and to update the context of the SIMILAR process model in order to use this renewed framework to engineer the challenging contemporary systems. The emerging trends in the field are also pointed-out with particular reference to the Model-Based Systems engineering approach.

Source localization using a non-cocentered orthogonal loop and dipole (NCOLD) array

A uniform array of scalar-sensors with intersensor spacings over a large aperture size generally offers enhanced resolution and source localization accuracy,but it may also lead to cyclic *** exploiting the polarization information of impinging waves,an electromagnetic vector-sensor array outperforms the unpolarized scalar-sensor array in resolving this cyclic ***,the electromagnetic vector-sensor array usually consists of cocentered orthogonal loops and dipoles（COLD）,which is easily subjected to mutual coupling across these cocentered dipoles/*** a result,the source localization performance of the COLD array may substantially degrade rather than being *** paper proposes a new source localization method with a non-cocentered orthogonal loop and dipole（NCOLD）*** NCOLD array contains only one dipole or loop on each array grid,and the intersensor spacings are larger than a ***,unlike the COLD array,these well separated dipoles/loops minimize the mutual coupling effects and extend the spatial aperture as *** the NCOLD array,the proposed method can effciently exploit the polarization information to offer high localization precision.
