The inventory of benthic macroinvertebrate species was carried out in some streams of the Mefou catchment area, from August 2021 to August 2022, in order to determine the biological groups that make up the population and characterise these environments. The dataset acquired during this study made it possible to update the existing database and contribute to the knowledge of the biological groups associated in these environments, and to provide additional information on the existing ones in relation to bioindication. Overall 80 families were identified and, on the basis of frequencies of occurrence greater than 75%, 22 families were retained as potential biological indicators. The remarkable diversity of insects and the low abundance of Diptera reflect the low degradation of environments and the good quality of water. The high diversity indices obtained reflect the maintenance of the favourable ecological conditions that favours the development of a balanced and, integrated biological community capable of adapting to changes.

In order to conserve and culture the cichlid fish Archocentrus nigrofasciatus,more information about its reproductive biology and its larval behavior and morphogenesis is ***,temperatures ranging from 21 to 27°C are used in ornamental aquaculture *** temperatures are preferred to reduce the costs of water heating,and 23°C is usually the selected ***,there is limited information on culturing protocols for ornamental species and most of the information generated on this topic remains ***,the present study examines the morphological development of Archocentrus nigrofasciatus during the yolk-sac period up to the age of 100 h post-hatching in relation to 2 temperature regimes used in ornamental aquaculture:a temperature of 27°C(thermal optimum)and a decreased temperature of 23°C(thermal tolerance).The results of this study suggest that the 27°C temperature generates intense morphological changes in yolk-sac development in a shorter *** has advantages as it reduces the time of yolk-sac larval development,and,thus,minimizes the transition phase to exogenous feeding and maximizes the efficiency at which yolk is converted into body *** present paper provides necessary information to produce freshwater ornamental fish with better practices so as to increase larval survival and capitalize on time for growth.

RAPD was used to analyze the polymorphism of \%Bothriocephalus\% parasitic in grass carp and common carp from Guangdong, Fujian and Gansu and in Ma Kou Yu from Fujian. Though there exist differences in geographical distribution and host specificity between \%Bothriocephalus\% parasitic in grass carp and common carp, RAPD analysis shows high similarity (72.3%-96.3%) in DNA between them, whereas between \%Bothriocephalus\% parasitic in Ma Kou Yu and in grass carp and common carp low similarity (24%-28.2%) was noticed. Hence, \%Bothriocephalus\% parasitic in Ma Kou Yu and \%Bothriocephalus\% parasitic in grass carp and common carp should be regarded as separate species.

Globally,fish are frequently introduced beyond their native ***,like Ponto-Caspian gobies,are becoming invasive,achieving high colo-nization rates and constituting frequent prey for native ***,little is known about the effectiveness of antipredator behaviors of the invaders,which may shape their role in the invaded community and contribute to the invasion *** compared antipredator behaviors of invasive gobies and native fish species after their detection by the predator,when the danger becomes *** studied 2 fish pairs,each consisting of an invasive and native species co-occurring in the environment and belonging to the same prey guild:(1)the racer goby Babka gymnotrachelus versus European bulhead Cottus gobio,(2)the monkey goby Neogobius fluviatilis versus gudgeon Gobio gobio,facing a naive predator(the Eurasian perch Perca fluviatilis).We analyzed behaviors of single prey individuals(escaping,staying in shelter,and activity)and sin-gle predators(activity,searching,following,capturing,and latency to prey consumption).In the predator presence,the bullhead was less active and more often managed to escape after capture than the racer *** gudgeon escaped before the capture more often than the monkey *** predator succeeded later with the bullhead compared to racer goby,whereas no differences in ingestion time occurred between the gudgeon and monkey *** results suggest that,in terms of hunting effort of native predators,the invasive gobies are equivalent to or more profitable prey than their native analogs,which can facilitate the integration of the gobies into local food webs.

We collected lake whitefish Coregonus clupeaformis and round whitefish Prosopium cylindraceum from the main basin of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay in the Laurentian Great Lakes of North America to investigate details of diet and feeding tactics of these species in different seasons. Lake whitefish supports important commercial fisheries in Lake Huron and both species make use of habitats near the Bruce Nuclear Power Development, on the eastern shore of Lake Huron. Most fish of both species showed generalist feeding behavior, but some lake whitefish appeared to show specialist prey selection. The invasive spiny water flea Bythotrephes longimanus was an important component of the diet of both species. There was considerable dietary overlap between the whitefish species, but the ecological implications of these dietary overlaps are mitigated by the fact that dominant prey species differed in most seasons. We conclude that the potential for ecologically significant interactions between lake whitefish and round whitefish resulting from competition for similar benthic food resources in the main basin of Lake Huron is probably low [Current Zoology 56 （1）： 109-117, 2010].

The larval stages of most marine fishes spend days to weeks in the pelagic environment,where they must find food and avoid predators in order to *** fish only spend part of their life history in the pelagic environment before returning to their adult habitat,for example,a coral *** sensory systems of larval fish develop rapidly during the first few days of their lives,and here we concentrate on the various sensory cues the fish have available to them for survival in the pelagic *** focus on the larvae of reef fishes because most is known about *** also review the major threats caused by human activities that have been identified to have worldwide impact and evaluate how these threats may impact larval-fish survival and orientation *** human activities negatively affect larval-fish sensory systems or the cues the fish need to ***,this could lead to decreased numbers of larvae surviving to settlement,and,therefore,to decreased abundance of adult *** we focus on species wherein the larvae and adults occupy different habitats(pelagic and demersal,respectively),it is important to acknowledge that the potential anthropogenic effects we identify may also apply to larvae of species like tuna and herring,where both larvae and adults are pelagic.

Successful commercial aquaculture of crustacean species is dependent on satisfying their nutritional requirements and on producing rapidly growing and healthy *** results of the present study provide valuable information for feeding habits and growth of Nephrops norvegicus L.,1758)under laboratory *** aim of the present study was to examine food consumption,growth and physiology of the Norway lobster *** under laboratory ***(15 g wet weight)were distributed into 100l tanks consisting of five numbered compartments *** were fed the experimental diets(frozen mussels and pellets)for a period of 6 months.A group of starved Nephrops was stocked and fasted for 8 *** Nephrops grew well when fed the frozen mussels diet,feeding on a dry pellet feed was *** starvation group,despite the fact that showed the highest mortality(50%),exhibited a remarkable tolerance to the lack of food *** study offers further insight by correlating the amino acid profiles of Nephrops tail muscle with the two *** deviations from the mussel’s diet for asparagine,alanine and glutamic acid suggest a deficiency of these amino acids in this *** results of the present study showed that the concentrations of free amino acids are lower in relative amount than those of protein-bound amino acids,except for arginine,proline and *** present study contributes to the improvement of our knowledge on nutritional requirements of the above species.

The present study on some biological aspects of the Mormyridae fishes,was conducted between May and August 2015 in the Upper Sanaga at L´eki´e department(Monat´el´e Town),Center *** this purpose,125 specimens collected by local fishermen were *** were identified and measured,and their feeding and reproductive parameters were obtained after *** catch composition of 4 species(Campylomormyrus phantasticus,Mormyrops anguilloides,Mormyrus macrophtalamus,Mormyrus tapirus)of Mormyridae identified in the region was very low(17%–30%).The mean±standard deviation of total weight and total length were 103.14±37.83 g and 27.47±4.84 cm,*** minimum and maximum size(of 21.1 cm and 43 cm)were recorded from *** and ***,*** mean±standard deviation of the relative length and mass of the digestive tract were 0.35%±0.20%and 5.27%±23.20%,respectively confirming that Mormyridae fish species have a strict carnivorous diet and consume prey that are difficult to *** size frequency distribution of the Mormyridae fishes showed that the majority of the fish caught are small sizes in classes 23–26 cm and 26–29 cm in ***,*** and *** did not record small specimens,however,it recorded larger sized specimens(41–44 cm)compared to the *** sex ratio ranged from 1M:1.14F(***)to 1M:4F(***),mean 1M:2.04F has been generally in favour of *** gonadosomatic index(GSI)was generally low in all ***,it was higher in females of *** and *** compared to other *** hepatosomatic index(HSI)was weakly correlated with the GSI in these species.

Recreation and beach use constitute core aspects of coastal tourism development since they incorporate various stakeholders at different levels and diverse activities. This research investigates the economical recreational value of the coastal zone between Molos and Arkitsa, in prefecture of Fthiotida, in Sterea Ellada region, in Greece. The study area provides substantial benefits to host community and remains an advantageous natural setting for tourism sustainable development. An economic valuation of the benefits largely assists the efforts of the local authorities to establish viable tourism products and preferred destination attributes. The travel cost method was used to estimate recreation demand. Based on personal and on site interviews 1,433 questionnaires were collected. The consumer surplus per day enjoyed by the visitors is 22,352.28 （Euros）. The analysis assigned a considerable value to the coastal zone. Results shed light on core issues such as environmental management and proper resource allocation in view of finding areas for further improvement so as to increase consumer surplus by satisfying the needs and wants of coastal visitors.
