Evolution of Viral Load in Patients Infected with HIV-1 at Point G University Hospital

Introduction: HIV, the human immunodeficiency virus, is the etiological agent of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). The aim of this study was to assess the evolution of the viral load in patients under treatment. Methodology: This was a study carried out from July 2017 to June 2022 at the Point G University Hospital laboratory. The determination of the viral load of patients was carried out by PCR on the ABOTT M2000sp/rt platform. Results: A total of 129 patients infected with HIV-1, aged 19 to 72 years with a mean age of 40.05 years ± 10.71;all on antiretroviral chemotherapy. The female gender predominated among our patients. The most common treatment regimen was 2INTI + 1INNTI with 72.9% followed by 2INTI + 1INI with 13.2%. As for the combinations of molecules, the combination TDF + 3TC + EFV and TDF + 3TC + DTG predominated, respectively 65.1% and 13.2%. 89.9% of our patients had undetectable viremia after 12 months of treatment (p < 0.005) with an average viral load which had evolved from 681315.65 copies/ml ± 1616908.484 to M0 at 5742.36 copies /ml ± 35756.883 at M12 (p Conclusion: Generally speaking, antiretroviral treatment had contributed to controlling viral loads, however the therapeutic combination TDF + 3TC + DTG had made it possible to obtain more patients with undetectable viremia instead.

Soy Isoflavone and Its Effect to Regulate Hypothalamus and Peripheral Orexigenic Gene Expression in Ovariectomized Rats Fed on A High-Fat Diet

Objective To explore the effect of soy isoflavone on obesity in the light of hypothalamus and peripheral orexigenic gene regulation. Methods Fifty-four female rats were randomly assigned to 6 groups： one sham-operated group （SHAM）, one ovariectomized （OVX） control group, three OVX groups fed with 400 ppm （L-SI）, 1 200 ppm （M-SI） and 3 600 ppm （H-SI） isoflavone respectively, and one OVX group receiving 0.45 ppm diethylstilbestrol （EC）. All rats were allowed to take high-fat diet for 4 weeks. Some neuropeptides were measured by RT-PCR. These neuropeptides included NPY, pro-opiomelanocortin （POMC）, cocaine and amphetamine regulated transcript （CART）, orexin, melanin-concentrating hormone （MCH）, ting hormone precursor （P-MCH）, ghrelin, and leptin. Results Compared with the OVX control group, the body weight and food intake in the H-S1 group were reduced significantly and there was a significant dose-dependent manner in the 3 isoflavone groups. The results of RT-PCR showed that the NPY level in the 3 isoflavone groups was significantly increased and the POMC/CART gene expression decreased significantly in rats＇ hypothalamus compared with that in the OVX control group. However, the expression of orexin, MCH and P-MCH had no change. The peripheral grelin mRNA expression was higher in the 3 isoflavone groups, while leptin gene expression in the fat was not consistent. Conclusions This research showed that isoflavone could prevent obesity induced by high-fat diet and ovariectomy through regulating hypothalamus and peripheral orexigenic gene expressions associated with food intake.

DJ1 Ameliorates AD-like Pathology in the Hippocampus of APP/PS1 Mice

Objective To explore whether the protein Deglycase protein 1(DJ1)can ameliorate Alzheimer’s disease(AD)-like pathology in Amyloid Precursor Protein/Presenilin 1(APP/PS1)double transgenic mice and its possible mechanism to provide a theoretical basis for exploring the pathogenesis of *** Adeno-associated viral vectors(AAV)of DJ1-overexpression or DJ1-knockdown were injected into the hippocampus of 7-month-old APP/PS1 mice to construct models of overexpression or *** were divided into the AD model control group(MC),AAV vector control group(NC),DJ1-overexpression group(DJ1+),and DJ1-knockdown group(DJ1-).After 21 days,the Morris water maze test,immunohistochemistry,immunofluorescence,and western blotting were used to evaluate the effects of DJ1 on *** DJ1+overexpression decreased the latency and increased the number of platform traversals in the water maze ***1-cells were cured and atrophied,and the intercellular structure was relaxed;the number of age spots and the expression of AD-related proteins were significantly ***1+increased the protein expression of Nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(NRF2),heme oxygenase-1(HO-1),light chain 3(LC3),phosphorylated AMPK(p-AMPK),and B cell lymphoma-2(BCL-2),as well as the antioxidant levels of total superoxide dismutase(T-SOD),total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC),and Glutathione peroxidase(GSH-PX),while decreasing the levels of Kelch-like hydrates-associated protein 1(Keap1),mammalian target of rapamycin(mTOR),p62/sequestosome1(p62/SQSTM1),Caspase3,and malondialdehyde(MDA).Conclusion DJ1-overexpression can ameliorate learning,memory,and AD-like pathology in APP/PS1 mice,which may be related to the activation of the NRF2/HO-1 and AMPK/mTOR pathways by DJ1.

This study was aimed to encapsulate Ziziphora clinopodioides –Rosmarinus officinalis essential oil (Z-REO) using sodium alginate (NaAlg) and to evaluate its performance on antimicrobial and antioxidative activities and sensory attributes in lamb burger patties during cold storage for 12 ***-MS analysis of Z-REO indicated carvacrol (21.5%) and thymol (16.9%) were the major *** images showed the formation of encapsulated *** presence of encapsulated Z-REO in NaAlg was proved based on the increase in band intensity of FTIR *** increasing mass ratios of NaAlg:Z-REO from 1:1 to 2:1,and 4:1,encapsulation efficiency was *** zeta-potential values (mV) of the mass ratios 4:1 and 2:1 were −48.67 and −44.83,indicating the stability of encapsulated *** average size of particles ranged from 159.14 nm to 256.14 *** results showed that the encapsulated nanoparticles could markedly decrease the growth of inoculated Escherichia coli O157:H7 and Staphylococcus aureus and delay the lipid oxidation of lamb patties compared to the control samples and in samples with free ***,nanoparticles efficiently decreased discoloration and off-odor development in the ***,NaAlg-Z-REO nanoparticles could efficiently reduce bacterial growth and oxidative or sensory deterioration of lamb patties during storage.

Compliance with Hand hygiene among Health Professionals in the Medical-Surgical Emergency department of the Donka National Hospital

Introduction: The transmission of infectious agents through the hands of nursing staff during care is the main cause of nosocomial infections. Hand hygiene has been recognized for over a century as an effective measure to prevent healthcare associated infections in healthcare settings, the objective of this study was to appreciate the practice of hand hygiene during care by health professionals in the medical-surgical emergency department of the Donka National Hospital. Methods: It was a cross-sectional, analytical study. Data collection took place from March 1 to April 30, 2021. The study covered all health professionals, namely doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians, radiography technicians, pharmacists, students, stretcher bearers, surfactants who were present at the time of the study period. Results: During the study period, out of a total of 104 registered health professionals, we surveyed 99, which is a rate of 95%. The most represented age group was [30 - 39 years] with an average of 37.17 ± 10.34 years, and extremes of 22 years to 65 years. The male sex was the most dominant or 59.60% compared to the female sex or 40.40% with a sex ratio of 1.47. The hand hygiene compliance rate was low at 21%. The practice of hand hygiene during care for 100% of health professionals was very low, at 8.08%. No factors influence the observance of the practice of hand hygiene and the socio-professional characteristics of the conditions of provision of care activities. Conclusion: Hand hygiene during care is an essential aspect that must be considered as an essential measure in the prevention of infections in this period of the COVID-19 pandemic.

With a grant from the Italian Ministry of the Environment, the National Institute of Health (Istituto Superiore di Sanita) promoted and coordinated some activities aimed at determining the extent and the intensity of contamination of waters used for human consumption by some chemical agents, and describing causes and modalities of contamination and human health implications. The chemical agents examined were herbicides, nitrates, trihalomethanes, asbestos, manganese and fluoride. In this paper a first nationwide picture of these problems is reported.

COVID-19,the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus,is highly *** persistence of the virus after infected individuals die remains *** article reports the findings taken from postmortem nasopharyngeal swabs performed to investigate the presence of SARS-CoV-2 in the corpses transferred to the Genoa District Mortuary from the outset of the Italian lockdown(March 9)to the end of the first emergency phase(July 13).One hundred and eighty swabs were carried out:13 corpses resulted positive for the virus,with the diagnosis being reached only after *** were male and 6 female with an average age of 73.5 years *** most frequent comorbidities recorded were arterial hypertension,diabetes,Alzheimer 5s,and pulmonary *** two cases,the swab tested positive at a distance of 125 h and 165 h from actual *** nasopharyngeal swab results a useful way to screen corpses for COVID-19 and to handle bodies in Legal Medicine Centers where safe autoptic rooms are not *** are also a means of safeguarding forensic pathologists,identifying the presence of breeding grounds in the community and providing information for the Public Prosecutor's Office in legal *** are able to produce reliable results up to at least 7 days following death,provided that the corpse is correctly preserved.
