Objective The relationship between fish consumption and stroke is inconsistent,and it is uncertain whether this association varies across predicted stroke *** A cohort study comprising 95,800 participants from the Prediction for Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease Risk in China project was conducted.A standardized questionnaire was used to collect data on fish *** were stratified into low-and moderate-to-high-risk categories based on their 10-year stroke risk prediction *** ratios(HRs)and 95%confidence intervals(CIs)were estimated using Cox proportional hazard models and additive interaction by relative excess risk due to interaction(RERI),attributable proportion(AP),and synergy index(SI).Results During 703,869 person-years of follow-up,2,773 incident stroke events were *** fish consumption was associated with a lower risk of stroke,particularly among moderate-to-high-risk individuals(HR=0.53,95%CI:0.47-0.60)than among low-risk individuals(HR=0.64,95%CI:0.49-0.85).A significant additive interaction between fish consumption and predicted stroke risk was observed(RERI=4.08,95%CI:2.80-5.36;SI=1.64,95%CI:1.42-1.89;AP=0.36,95%CI:0.28-0.43).Conclusion Higher fish consumption was associated with a lower risk of stroke,and this beneficial association was more pronounced in individuals with moderate-to-high stroke risk.

Comprehensive Analysis of the Ionospheric Response to the 2015 Geomagnetic Storms over Different Station

The fundamental problem of ionospheric physics lies in understanding and modeling the ionosphere’s dependence on solar activity. This challenge encompasses such as Variables across Solar Cycles, Response to Solar Flares and CMEs, Daily and Seasonal Effects, Spatial Variability and long term prediction models. This dependency on solar activity helps provide information that is fundamental to comprehend the changes in the ionosphere and its processes. In this work, the ionospheric critical frequency foF2 and electron density are applied to characterize large-scale ionosphere responses during the 2015 geomagnetic storm. Using data from the International Reference Ionosphere (IRI-2016 model), an empirical standard model of the Ionosphere, this work tries to construct a correspondence between the solar activity and the change in the Ionosphere’s characteristics across three different stations at different altitudes. It has been observed that the electron density decreases from (1.098E + 12 to 7.844E + 11) for low latitude, (6.358E + 11 to 3.650E + 11.) for mid latitude and (4.765E + 11 to 2.740E + 11) for high latitude on the day of the solar event. A similar decrease in foF2 by 40% - 70% can also be seen for the three different stations on the geomagnetic storm day.

Unsupervised Meteorological Downscaling Based on Dual Learning and Subgrid-scale Auxiliary Information

The Mentawai Forearc Sliver(MFS) is characterized by oblique deformation formed as slip partitioned between normal and parallel trench plate convergence. The surge of great earthquakes from 2004 to2012 along the adjacent Sunda trench left a large unbroken segment known as the Mentawai Seismic Gap. Here, we adopted continuous global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS) observation data to identify the present regional crustal deformation using geodetic strain rates. The principal strain rate, dilatation rate, and maximum shear strain rate are about 0.13 microstrain/yr, 0.2 microstrain/yr, and 0.1 microstrain/yr, respectively, with the range of its uncertainties between 0.01 and 0.04 microstrain/yr. The dilatation and maximum shear strain rates reveal the spatial coverage of strike-slip duplex and backthrust tectonics along the Mentawai Forearc Sliver.

Ozone exposure and cardiovascular disease: A narrative review of epidemiology evidence and underlying mechanisms

Ozone (O3) poses a significant global public health concern as it exerts adverse effects on human cardiovascular health. Nevertheless, there remains a lack of comprehensive understanding regarding the relationships between O3 exposure and the risk of cardiovascular diseases (CVD), as well as the underlying biological mechanisms. To address this knowledge gap, this narrative review meticulously summarizes the existing epidemiological evidence, susceptibility, and potential underlying biological mechanisms linking O3 exposure with CVD. An increasing body of epidemiological studies has demonstrated that O3 exposure heightens the incidence and mortality of CVD, including specific subtypes such as ischemic heart disease, hypertension, and heart failure. Certain populations display heightened vulnerability to these effects, particularly children, the elderly, obese individuals, and those with pre-existing conditions. Proposed biological mechanisms suggest that O3 exposure engenders respiratory and systemic inflammation, oxidative stress, disruption of autonomic nervous and neuroendocrine systems, as well as impairment of coagulation function, glucose, and lipid metabolism. Ultimately, these processes contribute to vascular dysfunction and the development of CVD. However, some studies have reported the absence of associations between O3 and CVD, or even potentially protective effects of O3. Inconsistencies among the literature may be attributed to inaccurate assessment of personal O3 exposure levels in epidemiologic studies, as well as confounding effects stemming from co-pollutants and temperature. Consequently, our findings underscore the imperative for further research, including the development of reliable methodologies for assessing personal O3 exposure, exploration of O3 exposure's impact on cardiovascular health, and elucidation of its biological mechanisms.

During the non-breeding season(September–April), Black-tailed Godwits(Limosa limosa) are commonly seen in coastal and inland wetlands of the Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna Delta in Bangladesh. We hypothesize that the Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna Delta, at the overlap between the Central Asian and East Asian–Australasian flyways, may host three subspecies that breed in disjunct areas of temperate and northern Asia: L. l. limosa, L. l. melanuroides, and L. l. bohaii. We used mitochondrial DNA(mt DNA) haplotype network and biometric analysis to determine subspecies in captured individuals, and deployed GPS–GSM transmitters to verify breeding areas of individuals with subspecies assignments. To test for differential habitat preferences, we sampled birds at two ecologically distinct habitats known to host the largest concentrations of non-breeding Black-tailed Godwits in Bangladesh: Nijhum Dweep National Park, a tidal coastal habitat with brackish water on the south-central coast, and Tanguar Haor(‘backmarsh'), a seasonal freshwater floodplain in the north. During the non-breeding seasons of 2021–2022 and 2022–2023, we sampled and measured 93 Black-tailed Godwits, 54 of which were equipped with GPS–GSM transmitters. Our mt DNA haplotype network analysis confirmed the presence of limosa, melanuroides, and bohaii subspecies at the study sites. Thus, indeed, Black-tailed Godwits subspecies, despite having distinct breeding ranges, exhibit(partially) overlapping non-breeding ranges in Asia. The subspecies composition differed significantly between sites, with limosa and bohaii dominating in Tanguar Haor and melanuroides in Nijhum Dweep. Of the 21 individuals that were tracked to their breeding grounds, 18 migrated to the expected breeding range of their respective subspecies. However, one bird with a limosa haplotype migrated to a known breeding area of bohaii, whereas two birds with melanuroides haplotypes migrated to the supposed breeding range of limosa. Seasonal variation of boron isotopic compositions in river water within the Qinghai Lake watershed and its controlling factors

Riverine boron（B） and its isotopic compositions(δ11B) are commonly used to trace silicate weathering within watersheds, but its sources and isotopic fractionation mechanisms remain contentious. In this study, we collected the seasonal river waters of the Buha River, the largest inlet river of Qinghai Lake, which is sensitive to climate change, and analyzed its seasonal variations of the major ions, B concentrations, and δ11B, to explore its sources and controlling factors. The results indicate that B in the Buha River predominantly originates from weathering of silicate rocks, with significantly seasonal variations in the geochemical behaviour of B isotopes. In the rainy seasons, the riverine B isotopic fractionation is primarily controlled by weathering of silicate rocks under the influence of hydrological conditions, where clay minerals preferentially absorb10B, leading to the enrichment of heavier B isotopes in river waters. In contrast, in the dry seasons, the B of river waters may mainly come from the recharge of groundwater(whose δ11B with a notable p H dependence); owing to prolonged retention of fluids, the steady state of δ11B is reached by the isotopic equilibrium through adsorption of clay minerals. This study highlights that the seasonal variations in riverine δ11B in semi-arid regions are jointly governed by silicate weathering, hydrological conditions, and water-rock interactions, with water p H and rainfall as key regulators. Consequently, riverine δ11B in the rainy seasons under semi-arid climatic conditions can effectively trace hydrologically-controlled silicate weathering processes within the watershed.

Identifiability and sloppiness of structured systems with a matrix fraction description using finite frequency responses

This paper investigates the identifiability of structured systems with a matrix fraction description and attacks practical difficulties in estimating parameters under finite frequency responses. The numerator and denominator polynomial matrices depend affinely on system parameters, which can represent a broad range of systems, especially circuits and mechanical systems. Except for assuming that the denominator matrix is invertible, no further assumptions are adopted. A criterion is provided for validating this assumption utilizing graph theories and matroids. A sufficient and necessary criterion for global identifiability based on the rank of a numerical matrix is given and can be recursively verified with each frequency point,which is computationally attractive for large-scale systems. For an identifiable system, an ellipsoid approximation is obtained for the set of parameters whose corresponding system frequency responses deviate within a specific range from those of the system at a specific parameter value. Using this approximation, explicit expressions for absolute and relative sloppiness have been derived, which can be used to quantify the difficulty of identifying system parameters. Comparisons with the well-known Fisher information matrix have also been performed through a mechanical system, revealing significant differences in quantifying parameter estimation hardness.
