Association of prealbumin with short-term and long-term outcomes in patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction

BACKGROUND Prealbumin is considered to be a useful indicator of nutritional status. Furthermore, it has been found to be associated with severities and prognosis of a range of diseases. However, limited data on the association of baseline prealbumin level with outcomes of patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction(STEMI) are *** We analyzed 2313 patients admitted for acute STEMI between October 2013 and December 2020. In-hospital outcomes and mortality during the 49 months(interquartile range: 26–73 months) follow-up period were compared between patients with the low prealbumin level(hospitalization. After propensity score matching, patients with the low prealbumin level than those with the high prealbumin level experienced higher incidences of heart failure with Killip class Ⅲ(9.9%vs. 4.4%, P = 0.034), cardiovascular death(8.4% vs. 3.4%, P = 0.035) and the composite of major adverse cardiovascular events(19.2%vs. 10.3%, P = 0.012). Multivariate logistic regression analysis identified that the low prealbumin level(hospital major adverse cardiovascular events(odds ratio = 1.918, 95% CI: 1.250–2.942, P = 0.003). The cutoff value of prealbumin level for predicting in-hospital death was 170 mg/L(area under the curve = 0.703, 95% CI: 0.651–0.754, P< 0.001;sensitivity = 0.544, specificity = 0.794). However, after multivariate adjustment of possible confounders, baseline prealbumin level(170 mg/L) was no longer independently associated with 49-month cardiovascular death. Bromocriptine protects perilesional spinal cord neurons from lipotoxicity after spinal cord injury

Effect of Guanxin Danshen Dripping Pills on Coronary Heart Disease Comorbid with Depression or Anxiety: The ADECODE-Real World Study

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of Guanxin Danshen Dripping Pill(GXDSDP) in treating anxiety and depression in patients with coronary heart disease(CHD). Methods: A total of 1,428 patients diagnosed with CHD screened for anxiety, depression, and quality of life(QOL) at baseline received 0.4 g of GXDSDP treatment 3 times per day and returned for monthly reassessment. Patients were recruited after stable treatment for CHD and received assessment of General Anxiety Disorder-7(GAD-7), Patient Health Questionnaire-9(PHQ-9), and Seattle Angina Questionnaire(SAQ) for evaluating anxiety, depression, and *** were followed up 3 times, once every 4 weeks, during outpatient visits for 12 weeks. Results: At the third follow-up(F3), the anxiety symptom of 63.79%(673/1,055) of the patients improved to sub-clinical level, and the GAD-7 score improved significantly(8.11 vs. 3.87, P<0.01);57.52%(585/1,017) patients' depressive symptoms improved to sub-clinical level, with a significant improvement in PHQ-9 score(8.69 vs. 4.41, P<0.01) at F3. All aspects of QOL significantly improved at the end of treatment compared to those at baseline(all P<0.01) as assessed by SAQ: physical limitation(31.17 vs. 34.14), anginal stability(2.74 vs. 4.14), anginal frequency(8.16vs. 9.10), treatment satisfaction(13.43 vs. 16.29), and disease perception(8.69 vs. 11.02). Conclusions: A fixed dosage of GXDSDP may be a potential treatment option for CHD patients comorbid with anxiety or depression.(Registration No. ChiCTR2100051523)

Objective:To investigate whether the combination of chemotherapy with staged Chinese herbal medicine(CHM) therapy could enhance health-related quality of life(QoL) in non-small-cell lung cancer(NSCLC)patients and prolong the time before deterioration of lung cancer symptoms,in comparison to chemotherapy ***:A prospective,double-blind,randomized,controlled trial was conducted from December 14,2017 to August 28,2020.A total of 180 patients with stage ⅠB-ⅢA NSCLC from 5 hospitals in Shanghai were randomly divided into chemotherapy combined with CHM(chemo+CHM) group(120 cases) or chemotherapy combined with placebo(chemo+placebo) group(60 cases) using stratified blocking *** European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer(EORTC) Quality-of-Life-Core 30 Scale(QLQ-C30) was used to evaluate the patient-reported outcomes(PROs) during postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy in patients with early-stage *** events(AEs) were assessed in the safety ***:Out of the total 180 patients,173 patients(116in the chemo+CHM group and 57 in the chemo+placebo group) were included in the PRO *** initial mean QLQ-C30 Global Health Status(GHS)/QoL scores at baseline were 57.16±1.64 and 57.67±2.25 for the two respective groups(P>0.05).Compared with baseline,the chemo+CHM group had an improvement in QLQ-C30GHS/QoL score at week 18 [least squares mean(LSM) change 17.83,95% confidence interval(CI) 14.29 to 21.38].Conversely,the chemo+placebo group had a decrease in the score(LSM change-13.67,95% CI-22.70 to-4.63).A significant between-group difference in the LSM GHS/QoL score was observed,amounting to 31.63 points(95% CI25.61 to 37.64,P<0.001).The similar trends were observed in physical functioning,fatigue and appetite *** week 18,patients in the chemo+CHM group had a higher proportion of improvement or stabilization in GHS/QoL functional and symptom scores compared to chemo+placebo group(P<0.001).The median time to deterioration
