Novel Soft ComputingModel for Predicting Blast-Induced Ground Vibration in Open-Pit Mines Based on the Bagging and Sibling of Extra Trees Models

This study considered and predicted blast-induced ground vibration(PPV)in open-pit mines using bagging and sibling techniques under the rigorous combination of machine learning ***,four machine learning algorithms,including support vector regression(SVR),extra trees(ExTree),K-nearest neighbors(KNN),and decision tree regression(DTR),were used as the base models for the purposes of combination and PPV initial *** bagging regressor(BA)was then applied to combine these base models with the efforts of variance reduction,overfitting elimination,and generating more robust predictive models,abbreviated as BA-ExTree,BAKNN,BA-SVR,and *** is emphasized that the ExTree model has not been considered for predicting blastinduced ground vibration before,and the bagging of ExTree is an innovation aiming to improve the accuracy of the inherently ExTree model,as *** addition,two empirical models(i.e.,USBM and Ambraseys)were also treated and compared with the bagging models to gain a comprehensive *** this aim,we collected 300 blasting events with different parameters at the Sin Quyen copper mine(Vietnam),and the produced PPV values were also *** were then compiled as the dataset to develop the PPV predictive *** results revealed that the bagging models provided better performance than the empirical models,except for the BA-DTR *** those,the BA-ExTree is the best model with the highest accuracy(i.e.,88.8%).Whereas,the empirical models only provided the accuracy from 73.6%–76%.The details of comparisons and assessments were also presented in this study.

geology and Mineral Chemistry of Gold Mineralization in Mirge-Naqshineh Occurrence(Saqez,NW Iran):Implications for Transportation and Precipitation of Gold

The Mirge-Naqshineh gold district is situated at northwest of Iran with a NW-trending brittle- ductile shear zone. It is hosted by Precambrian meta-sedimentary and meta-volcanic units traversed by mineralized quartz veins. In terms of cross-cutting relationships and sulfide content three types of quartz veins are identified in the region. Among those, parallel to bedding quartz vein （type I） is the main host for gold mineralization. Gold is found in three different forms： 1） submicrometer-size inclusions of gold in arsenian pyrite, 2） as electrum and 3） in the crystal lattice of sulfides （pyrite, galena and chalcopyrite）. Six types of pyrite （Pyl-Py6） were identified in this ore reserve. Py3 coexists with arsenopyrite and contains the greatest As-Au concentrations. There is a negative correlation between the As and S contents in Py2 and Py3, implying the substitution of sulfur by arsenic. Pyrites and mineralized quartz veins were formed via metamorphic-hydrothermal fluid and reflect the gold-transportation as Au（HS）2 under reducing and acidic conditions. The gold precipitation mainly controlled by crystallization of arsenian pyrite during fluid/rock interactions and variation offO2. The volcanic host rock has played an important role in gold concentration, as Py3 in this rock contains inclusion of gold particles, but gold is within the lattice of pyrite in phyllite or other units.

Characterization of refractory behaviour of complex gold/silver ore by diagnostic leaching

The amenability of a refractory ore to the extraction of gold and silver by cyanide leaching was investigated. Diagnostic leaching tests were also performed to shed light on the refractory characteristics of ore. The leaching tests show that the extraction of gold and silver is consistently low, i.e. ≤47% and ≤19.2%, respectively, over a leaching period of 24 h. Even fine grinding (e.g. <38 μm) does not improve the recovery of gold and silver. Diagnostic leaching approach provides information into the cause of the refractoriness of the ore. The findings suggest that the refractoriness is induced by the dissemination and encapsulation of the very fine gold and silver particles largely in the carbonates, oxides and sulfides and, to a small extent, with silicates present in the ore matrix. These findings highlight the practical importance of diagnostic leaching for the understanding of the refractory characteristic of such an ore and for the identification of possible pretreatment options to overcome its refractoriness prior to cyanide leaching.

Blastability evaluation for rock mass fragmentation in Iran central iron ore mines

In this research, we investigated the influence of rock mass properties, blast design parameters and explosive properties on blast fragmentation. Rock mass properties were evaluated in 51 blasting blocks using engineering geological mapping of 1961 meters of the scanline, experiments on intact rock samples and measuring P-wave velocity(Vp) for 1771 meters of seismic profiles. The results indicate that increasing spacing, persistence, opening, roughness, waviness of discontinuities, and Vp and uniaxial compressive strength(UCS) of intact rock as well as the increase of discontinuities angle with the bench face of blasting block will increase the size distribution of blasted rocks. In addition, evaluation of the influence of connector type, specific drilling and specific charge has shown that using the Nonel system will decrease the mean size of fragmentation. It is also demonstrated that increasing specific drilling and specific charge quantities will result in the increase of mean size of fragmentation.

Crystal Structure and Chemical Composition of Ludwigite from Vranovac Ore Deposit (Boranja Mountain,Serbia)

The crystal structure of ludwigite from Vranovac ore deposit （Boranja Mt., Serbia） was refined using the X-ray powder diffraction （XRPD） Rietveld method in the space group Pbam to a final RB=7.45% and RF=5.26%. It has the unit cell dimensions of： a=9.2515（2） A; b=12.3109（2） A; c=3.03712 （7） A; and V=345.91（1） A3. The calculated distances and angles are mostly in good agreement with the Mg2＋-Fe2＋ substitutions across the M（1） and M（3） sites, as well as with the Fe3＋-AI3＋ replacement in the M（4） site. However, the mean observed M（2）-O distance is considerably shorter than prescribed, due to a slight increase of the Fe3＋ content in the M（2） site. Such replacement was compensated by slight increase of the Fe2＋ content in the M（4） site, resulting in the （Mg1.4sFe2＋o.46Fe3＋***.o2）2.o1 （Fe3＋o.94Fe2＋0.04Al0.02）1.00B1.00Os composition. The formation temperature was estimated to be about 500- 600C. The influences of the various chemical compositions to the crystallographic parameters, M-O distances, M（3） and M（4） sites shift, distortion parameters and estimated valences, were also studied and compared with other reference samples.

Revisiting the theoretical prediction of the explosive performance found by the Trauzl test

The Trauzl lead block test allows the determination of the approximate performance of explosives in blasting applications by measuring the volume increase(expansion)that is produced by the detonation of an explosive charge in the cavity of a lead *** this paper,we reconsider the possibility of interpreting the Trauzl test results in terms of detonation parameters or *** detonation parameters used in the analysis are calculated using the thermochemical code EXPLO5,while the hydrocode AUTODYN is used to simulate the effect of explosive charge density and reaction rate on the results of the Trauzl *** increase in the volume of the lead block cavity was found to correlate best with the product of the detonation heat and the root of the volume of detonation *** simulation showed that the density of explosive charge and the rate of explosive decomposition affect the dynamics of the interaction of the detonation product and the lead block,and consequently the lead block cavity volume increase.

Accuracy assessment of mine walls＇ surface models derived from terrestrial laser scanning

The monitoring of highwall slopes at open-pit mines is an important task to ensure safe mining. For this reason, several techniques such as total station, radar, terrestrial Light Detection and Ranging （LIDAR） can be employed for surface measurement. The objective of this study is to investigate mesh algorithms, which can be used to interpolate 3D models of pit walls. Experiments were carried out at Coc Sau open-pit mine at Quang Ninh province of Vietnam, and at experimental mine of Akademia Gtrniczo-Hutnicza University of Science and Technology in Cracow, Poland. First, 3D point cloud data for the study area was acquired by using terrestrial LIDAR, then was used to generate mesh surfaces using three algorithms--Delaunay 2.5D XY Plane, Delaunay 2.5D Best Fitting Plane, and Mesh from Points. After that, the results were rectified and optimized. Subsequently, the optimized meshes were used for generation of non-uniform rational basis spline （NURBS） surfaces. Then, the NURBS surface accuracy was assessed. The results showed that the average distance between surface and point cloud was within range of 5.6-5.8 mm with deviation of 6.2-6.8 mm, depending on the used mesh. Additionally, the quality of surfaces depends on the quality of input data set and the algorithm used to generate mesh network, and the accuracy of computed NURBS surfaces fitting into pointset was 4-5 times lower than that of optimized mesh fitting. However, the accuracy of the final product allows determining displacements on the level of centimeters.

A mathematical model of gas flow during coal outburst initiation

A proposed concept of outburst initiation examines the release of a large amount of gas from coal seams resulted from disintegrating thermodynamically unstable coal organic matter(COM).A coal microstructure is assumed to getting unstable due to shear component appearance triggered by mining operations and tectonic activities considered as the primary factor while COM disintegration under the impact of weak electric fields can be defined as a secondary *** energy of elastic deformations stored in the coal microstructure activates chemical reactions to tilt the energy balance in a“coal–gas”*** on this concept a mathematical model of a gas flow in the coal where porosity and permeability are changed due to chemical reactions has been *** this model we calculated gas pressure changes in the pores initiated by gas release near the working face till satisfying force and energy criteria of *** simulation results demonstrated forming overpressure zone in the area of intensive gas release with enhanced porosity and *** calculated outburst parameters are well combined with those evaluated by field measurements.

Investigation of factors influencing roof stability at a Western *** coal mine

The coal mine roof rating(CMRR) was developed to bridge the gap between geological variation in underground coal mines and engineering design. The CMRR accounts for the compressive strength of the immediate roof, the shear strength and intensity of any discontinuities present, and the moisture sensitivity of the immediate roof. The CMRR has been widely used and validated in Eastern US coal mines, but it has seen limited application in the Western US. This study focuses on roof behavior at a Western coal mine(Mine A). Mine A shows significant lateral geological variation, along with localized faulting and a laterally extensive sandstone channel network. The CMRR is not used to predict roof instability at the mine. It is, therefore, hypothesized that there are other factors that are correlated with roof instability in underground coal mines that could potentially also be considered in conjunction with the *** hypothesis was tested by collecting 30 CMRR measurements at Mine A. At each measurement location, a binary record of the roof condition(stable or unstable) was made, and other parameters such as depth of cover, presence of faulting, and sandstone channels were also recorded. ANOVA tests showed that the CMRR values and the roof conditions were not strongly correlated, indicating that the CMRR input criteria are not fully predictive of roof stability at this mine. The CMRR values showed statistically significant correlations(p less than 0.05) with faulting as well as with location at an intersection. For areas that had previously experienced roof fall but were currently stable, faulting was correlated with roof condition(p less than 0.05) only when the condition was classified as unstable.
