Combination of super-resolution reconstruction and SGA-Net for marsh vegetation mapping using multi-resolution multispectral and hyperspectral images

Vegetation is crucial for wetland *** activities and climate changes are increasingly threatening wetland *** satellite images and deep learning for classifying marsh vegetation communities has faced great challenges because of its coarse spatial resolution and limited spectral *** study aimed to propose a method to classify marsh vegetation using multi-resolution multispectral and hyperspectral images,combining super-resolution techniques and a novel self-constructing graph attention neural network(SGA-Net)*** SGA-Net algorithm includes a decoding layer(SCE-Net)to preciselyfine marsh vegetation classification in Honghe National Nature Reserve,Northeast *** results indicated that the hyperspectral reconstruction images based on the super-resolution convolutional neural network(SRCNN)obtained higher accuracy with a peak signal-to-noise ratio(PSNR)of 28.87 and structural similarity(SSIM)of 0.76 in spatial quality and root mean squared error(RMSE)of 0.11 and R^(2) of 0.63 in spectral *** improvement of classification accuracy(MIoU)by enhanced super-resolution generative adversarial network(ESRGAN)(6.19%)was greater than that of SRCNN(4.33%)and super-resolution generative adversarial network(SRGAN)(3.64%).In most classification schemes,the SGA-Net outperformed DeepLabV3+and SegFormer algorithms for marsh vegetation and achieved the highest F1-score(78.47%).This study demonstrated that collaborative use of super-resolution reconstruction and deep learning is an effective approach for marsh vegetation mapping.

Bibliometric Analysis of Global Research Progress on Coastal Flooding 1995–2016

Global research progress on coastal flooding was studied using a bibliometric evaluation of publications listed in the Web of Science extended scientific citation index. There was substantial growth in coastal flooding research output, with increasing publications, a higher collaboration index, and more references during the 1995–2016 period. The USA has taken a dominant position in coastal flooding research, with the US Geological Survey leading the publications ranking. Research collaborations at institutional scales have become more important than those at global scales. International collaborative publications consistently drew more citations than those from a single country. Furthermore, coastal flooding research included combinations of multi-disciplinary categories, including ‘Geology' and ‘Environmental Sciences & Ecology'. The most important coastal flooding research sites were wetlands and estuaries. While numerical modeling and 3 S(Remote sensing, RS; geography information systems, GIS; Global positioning systems, GPS) technology were the most commonly used methods for studying coastal flooding, Lidar gained in popularity. The vulnerability and adaptation of coastal environments, their resilience after flooding, and ecosystem services function showed increases in interest.

Metals content in sediments of ephemeral streams with small reservoirs(the Negev Desert)

The content of 19 metals(chromium,cobalt,nickel,strontium,arsenic,magnesium,barium,cesium,gallium,rubidium,uranium,vanadium,zinc,lead,copper,cadmium,iron,manganese,and aluminum) in sediment in three ephemeral streams(Nahal Sansana,Nahal Revivim and Nahal Pura) with reservoirs in the Negev Desert is studied *** study was done in September *** samples were collected from the surface layer of sediment(up to 10 cm) in the reservoirs and in the channels upstream and downstream of the ***,which on average,accounted for 72% dominated in the *** the spatial distribution of the particle size,sand and gravel fractions were deposited in the ***,iron,and magnesium accounted for 99% of all analyzed *** Principal Component Analysis(PCA) and Hierarchical Cluster Analysis(HCA) showed that sediment in the Negev Desert channel upstream of the reservoirs had similar concentrations of *** were also found between the analyzed *** bottom sediment in reservoirs had higher concentrations of metals than sediment upstream and downstream of the *** comparison of concentrations in upstream and downstream locations did not show any unambiguous trends because metal concentrations downstream from the reservoirs were not always lower than upstream of the *** analysis of the sediment enrichment factor(EF) showed the highest value in the reservoirs and the lowest downstream of the *** concentrations of most analyzed metals did not indicate the possibility of potential ecological risk(SQG).

Semantic typing of linked geoprocessing workflows

In Geographic information Systems(GIS),geoprocessing workflows allow analysts to organize their methods on spatial data in complex *** propose a method for expressing workflows as linked data,and for semi-automatically enriching them with semantics on the level of their operations and *** workflows can be easily published on the Web and queried for types of inputs,results,or ***,GIS analysts can reuse their workflows in a modular way,selecting,adapting,and recommending resources based on compatible semantic *** typing approach starts from minimal annotations of workflow operations with classes of GIS tools,and then propagates data types and implicit semantic structures through the workflow using an OWL typing scheme and SPARQL rules by backtracking over GIS *** method is implemented in Python and is evaluated on two real-world geoprocessing workflows,generated with Esri's *** illustrate the potential applications of our typing method,we formulate and execute competency questions over these workflows.

Incorporating Equity Concerns into Transportation Planning and Policies in Urban China: The Status Quo of Practice and Implications

Transportation equity is one of the most recent concerns toward sustainable urban development, which aims to help municipalities or local planning authorities incorporate equity issues into transportation planning and policies, avoiding multifaceted potential inequity outcomes. As for the urbanizing China, do the mainstream planning approaches fail to take equity issues into account? What are outcomes and the potential countermeasures based on Chinese cities' spatial and policy contexts? From the perspective of transportation equity, this article aims to examine the multidimensional effects related to equity concerns of urban transportation planning and policies in China. It suggests that the municipal government should enhance the service level of public transit and efficiently address the inequity issues of transportation systems. The potential measures include: building a multi-modal transit system, linking affordable housing to the transportation system, highlighting the role of non-motorized mode, and offering proper parking spaces around transit stations.

Distribution, Morphology, and Chemical Composition of Fe-Mn Nodules in Albeluvisols of the Carpathian Foothills, Poland

Iron and manganese oxides are common components of soils. They frequently occur in nodules constituting important soil sorbents and play a crucial role in a number of chemical reactions in the soil environment. In addition, the oxides are very sensitive to environmental changes (moisture, pH, Eh) constituting important indicators of soil-forming processes and water movement in the landscape. The objectives of the study were: i) to examine the distribution and size of Fe-Mn nodules in Albeluvisols containing a fragipan horizon; ii) to determine the morphology and chemical composition of the nodules, and iii) to estimate the effect of the fragipan horizon on water movement within the soil profile. An investigation was carried out on five soil profiles containing a fragipan horizon and classified as Fragic Albeluvisols within the Carpathian Foothills in Poland. In the Albeluvisols studied, the maximum concentration of Fe-Mn nodules occurred in the horizon lying directly on the fragipan horizon. This suggests that the pan acts as a natural barrier restricting water infiltration and leads to the seasonal development of a perched water table promoting redox processes. The most common are coarse (1-0.5 mm) and medium (0.5-0.25 mm) irregular Fe-Mn nodules showing a gradual boundary and undifferentiated internal fabric. Eluvial horizons contained also larger amounts of round and dense nodules with a sharp boundary, suggesting frequent oxidation and reduction. The fragipan horizon contained mainly irregular and soft nodules, suggesting longer saturation with water during the year. Concentrations of trace elements (Cu, Zn) and P were higher within Fe-Mn nodules than in the surrounding soil materials, showing that iron and manganese oxides adsorbed and immobilised these elements.

Bell State Preparation Based on Switching Between Quantum System Models

For the preparation of any target Bell state under continuous quantum measurement, this paper proposes a method which achieves the control objective by switching between two different models or by switching between two control channels under one model. Proper control Hamiltonians are selected for the two system models, a switching strategy between the two models is designed, and the stability of the whole switching system is proved in theory. For a given target Bell state, the effectiveness of the proposed switching control strategy between different models is illustrated through simulation experiments.

Estimation of Organic Matter Content in Coastal Soil Using Reflectance Spectroscopy

Rapid determination of soil organic matter(SOM) using regression models based on soil reflectance spectral data serves an important function in precision agriculture. "Deviation of arch"(DOA)-based regression and partial least squares regression(PLSR)are two modeling approaches to predict ***,few studies have explored the accuracy of the DOA-based regression and PLSR ***,the DOA-based regression and PLSR were applied to the visible near-infrared(VNIR) spectra to estimate SOM content in the case of various dataset divisions.A two-fold cross-validation scheme was adopted and repeated 10 000 times for rigorous evaluation of the DOA-based models in comparison with the widely used PLSR *** samples were collected for SOM analysis in the coastal area of northern Jiangsu Province,*** results indicated that both modelling methods provided reasonable estimation of SOM,with PLSR outperforming DOA-based regression in ***,the performance of PLSR for the validation dataset decreased more *** the four DOA-based regression models,a linear model provided the best estimation of SOM and a cutoff of SOM content(19.76 g kg^(-1)),and the performance for calibration and validation datasets was *** the SOM content exceeded 19.76 g kg^(-1),SOM became more effective in masking the spectral features of other soil properties to a certain *** work confirmed that reflectance spectroscopy combined with PLSR could serve as a non-destructive and cost-efficient way for rapid determination of SOM when hyperspectral data were *** DOA-based model,which requires only 3 bands in the visible spectra,also provided SOM estimation with acceptable accuracy.
