Sustainability of the Urban System Planning in Shu City, kazakhstan: An Evaluation through Residents' Perception

It is important to consider the local people's evaluation in increasing the effectiveness of the sustainable planning process in urban system planning. In this work, the sustainability of urban system planning in Shu city of kazakhstan is evaluated according to the defined dimensions,which play a key role in determining the population's living standard, and the indicators of each dimension are compared. The data are obtained mainly through the household questionnaire survey, field observations, in depth interviews, and focus group discussion. In total,832 representative respondents were surveyed with five-point Likert scale questions in this paper. The study used 42 indicators based on six dimensions: environmental, social, cultural,economic, religious/spiritual, and institutional dimensions. The results of this analysis show that the sustainability level of urban system planning in Shu city is at a low level in all six dimensions. The results of the indicator analysis show that the people of this region are generally not satisfied with the solution of some environmental, social, and economic problems in Shu city. At the same time, residents rated the indicators of institutional stability as better, on the contrary, they rated cultural and religious/spiritual indicators relatively high. As a result,we initially asserted that the sustainability of the urban system planning in Shu city is not satisfactory considering the existing possibilities. To eliminate this shortcoming, the authorities responsible for planning the urban system should jointly develop a project policy for sustainable development with all interested parties.

Regime dynamics of hydrochemical and toxicological parameters of the Irtysh River in kazakhstan

Since the Irtysh River flows through the important economic, ecological and social territories of China, kazakhstan and Russia, the water quality issues growingly draw the attention of the water authorities from these countries. Therefore, a detailed study of the hydrochemical regime and toxicological indicators in kazakhstan was carried out for understanding the regime dynamics of water quality and its affect factors. The combined assessment of maximum permissible concentration （MPC） of chemical components and biotesting method were proposed and performed for the study area. The results clearly showed that the concentrations of single chemical component at different locations are mostly under MPC standard in a basin scale. However, the watershed surface runoff and tributary stream flow from mining industry areas had high concentration of heavy metals and had significant impact on the water quality near Ust-Kamenogorsk. Furthermore, even the stream water generally meet MPC standard, the results of biotesting method show the toxicity level of water sample is lethal for the test objects of phytoplankton and Daphnia. The survival rates of most water samples are lower than 46.7%. Hereby, this study strongly suggests using combined water assessment methods to evaluate the water quality.

Testate amoebae communities from some freshwater and soil habitats in China （Hubei and Shandong Provinces）

Seventy-eight species and forms of testate amoebae were identified from 29 freshwater and soil habitats in three territories of China （Shandong and Hubei Provinces）. Most abundant species from the genera Plagiopyxis, Centropyxis and Trinema represent the globally-distributed and eurybiont group of testate amoe- bae. The species richness was observed to be the lowest （7-12 species per biotope） in sandy sediments of the Yangtze River, but considerably higher （20-30 taxa） in soil environment. In the range of terrestrial habitats, the most remote communities from Laoshan Mountain in Shandong Province, China manifested the highest difference from others. On the other hand, communities originated in the most distant from industrial center places （Guifeng Mountain in Hubei Province, China） possess the most peculiar species composition including specific Gondwa- nian taxa （e.g. Nebela bigibbosa）. In sum, the results obtained provide the evidence that the community complexity and specificity reduce in the places located within areas that are highly populated and intensively visited by humans.

Sand and Dust Storm Risk Assessment in Arid Central Asia: Implications for the Environment, Society, and Agriculture

This study aimed to assess sand and dust storm(SDS) risks in arid Central Asia during 2001–2021 from a multisectoral(environment, society, and agriculture) and comprehensive perspective on the Google Earth Engine(GEE) platform. The results show that the areas with moderate or greater SDS risk accounted for 18.75% of the total area of arid Central Asia. The high SDS risk areas are mainly concentrated in the oases around the desert and are most widely distributed in spring and summer. The SDS risk in the oasis area of southern Xinjiang increased significantly, while the SDS risk in the northeastern Aral Sea region and the kazakh hilly region decreased significantly over the 21 years. Khwarazm of Uzbekistan, located in the Amu Darya River Delta, is the administrative district with the highest comprehensive risk of sandstorms, and the Balkan State of Turkmenistan and Kashi City and Zepu County in China are the administrative districts with the highest multisectoral risk of sandstorms. The results of this study provide a complete picture of SDS risks in the arid Central Asia region and will provide some guidance to policymakers and local authorities in SDS risk mitigation.

The Modern Problems of Sustainable Use and Management of Irrigated Lands on the Example of the Bukhara Region (Uzbekistan)

The Central Asian lowlands are characterized by an arid and continental climate. At the same time, the large streams and rivers have been providing water for the development of flourishing oases and extensive irrigated farming areas. Bukhara is one of those oases. The population of 1.7 mln. and especially the agricultural sector (with an irrigated area of 275,000 ha) use a considerable amount of water. But as the flat topography does not provide sufficient natural drainage, water logging and raising groundwater tables have become serious problems for the agricultural productivity. The combination of the high salinity of the irrigation water and the generous application of fertilizers leads to a widespread soil salinization. Excessive leaching is supposed to reduce the top soil salinity, but as the drainage system is only covering a small portion of the irrigated areas and is in need of maintenance, this process only contributes to the ongoing salinization and the reduction of soil fertility and crop yields. The data presented here for the years 2000 to 2013 indicate that the groundwater table is rising throughout the region while the groundwater salinity is decreasing. The soil salinity on the other hand is, after an improvement during the first half of the study period, slightly increasing since 2009, which also is reflected in the slight worsening of the condition of the reclaimed land during the same period.

Spatio-temporal pattern and changes of evapotranspiration in arid Central Asia and Xinjiang of China

Accurate inversion of land surface evapotranspiration （ET） in arid areas is of great significance for understanding global eco-hydrological process and exploring the spatio-temporal variation and ecological response of water resources. It is also important in the functional evaluation of regional water cycle and water balance, as well as the rational allocation and management of water resources. This study, based on model validation analysis at varied scales in fiwe Central Asian countries and China＇s Xinjiang, developed an appropriate approach for ET inversion in arid lands. The actual ET during growing seasons of the study area was defined, and the changes in water participating in evaporation in regional water cycle were then educed. The results show the simulation error of SEBS （Surface Energy Balance System） model under cloud amount consideration was 1.34% at 30-m spatial scale, 2.75% at 1-km spatial scale and 6,37% at 4-kin spatial scale. ET inversion for 1980-2007 applying SEBS model in the study area indicates：（1） the evaporation depth （May-September） by land types descends in the order of waters （660.24 ram）〉 cultivated land （464.66 mm）〉 woodland （388.44 mm）〉 urbanized land （168.16 mm）〉 grassland （160.48 mm）〉 unused land （83.08 mm）; and （2） ET during the 2005 growing season in Xinjiang and Central Asia was 2,168.68x108 m3 （with an evaporation/precipitation ratio of 1.05） and 9,741.03x108 m3 （with an evaporation/precipitation ratio of 1.4）, respectively. The results unveiled the spatio-temporal variation rules of ET process in arid areas, providing a reference for further research on the water cycle and water balance in similar arid regions.

Active Achilles tendon kinesitherapy facilitates the functional recovery of a ruptured Achilles tendon However, protein expression during the healing process remains a controversial issue. New Zealand rabbits, aged 14 weeks, underwent tenotomy followed immediately byAchilles tendon microsurgery to repair the Achilles tendon rupture. The tendon was then immobilized or subjected to postoperative early motion treatment （kinesitherapy）. Mass spectrography results showed that after 14 days of motion treatment, 18 protein spots were differentially expressed, among which, 12 were up-regulated, consisting of gelsolin isoform b and neurite growth-related protein collapsing response mediator protein 2. Western blot analysis showed that gelsolin isoform b was up-regulated at days 7-21 of motion treatment. These findings suggest that active Achilles tendon kinesitherapy promotes the neurite regeneration of a ruptured Achilles tendon and gelsolin isoform b can be used as a biomarker for Achilles tendon healing after kinesitherapy.

Objectives： Surgical repair of Achilles tendon （AT） rupture should immediately be followed by active tendon mobilization. The optimal time as to when the mobilization should begin is important yet controversial. Early kinesitherapy leads to reduced rehabilitation period. However, an insight into the detailed mechanism of this process has not been gained. Proteomic technique can be used to separate and purify the proteins by differential expression profile which is related to the function of different proteins, but research in the area of proteomic analysis of AT 3 days after repair has not been studied so far. Methods： Forty-seven New Zealand white rabbits were randomized into 3 groups. Group A （immobilization group, n=l 6） received postoperative cast immobilization; Group B （early motion group, n= 16） received early active motion treatments immediately following the repair of AT rupture from tenotomy. Another 15 rabbits served as control group （Group C）. The AT samples were prepared 3 days following the microsurgery. The proteins were separated employing two- dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis （2D-PAGE）. PDQuest software version 8.0 was used to identify differentially expressed proteins, followed by peptide mass fingerprint （PMF） and tandem mass spectrum analysis, using the national Center for Biotechnology Information （NCBI） protein database retrieval and then for bioinformatics analysis. Results： Amean of 446.33,436.33 and 462.67 protein spots on Achilles tendon samples of 13 rabbits in Group A, 14 rabbits in Group B and 13 rabbits in Group C were suc- cessfully detected in the 2D-PAGE. There were 40, 36 and 79 unique proteins in Groups A, B and C respectively. Some differentially expressed proteins were enzyme with the gel, matrix-assisted laser-desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry （MALDI-TOF MS）. Background The ongoing coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)and the Omicron variant presents a formidable challenge for control and prevention worldwide,especially for low-and middle-income countries(LMICs).Hence,taking kazakhstan and Pakistan as examples,this study aims to explore COVID-19 transmission with the Omicron variant at different contact,quarantine and test *** A disease dynamic model was applied,the population was segmented,and three time stages for Omicron transmission were established:the initial outbreak,a period of stabilization,and a second *** impact of population contact,quarantine and testing on the disease are analyzed in five scenarios to analysis their impacts on the *** statistical metrics are employed to quantify the model’s performance,including the correlation coefficient(CC),normalized absolute error,normalized root mean square error and distance between indices of simulation and observation(DISO).Results Our model has high performance in simulating COVID-19 transmission in kazakhstan and Pakistan with high CC values greater than 0.9 and DISO values less than *** with the present measures(baseline),decreasing(increasing)the contact rates or increasing(decreasing)the quarantined rates can reduce(increase)the peak values of daily new cases and forward(delay)the peak value times(decreasing 842 and forward 2 days for kazakhstan).The impact of the test rates on the disease are *** the start time of stage Ⅱ is 6 days,the daily new cases are more than 8 and 5 times the rate for kazakhstan and Pakistan,respectively(29,573 vs.3259;7398 vs.1108).The impact of the start times of stageⅢon the disease are contradictory to those of stageⅡ.Conclusions For the two LMICs,kazakhstan and Pakistan,stronger control and prevention measures can be more effective in combating ***,to reduce Omicron transmission,strict management
