The Fermat–Pramanik series are like below: .The mathematical principle has been established by factorization principle. The Fermat-Pramanik tree can be grown. It produces branched Fermat-Pramanik series using same principle making Fermat-Pramanik chain. Branched chain can be propagated at any point of the main chain with indefinite length using factorization principle as follows: Same principle is applicable for integer solutions of AM+B2=C2which produces series of the type . It has been shown that this equation is solvable with N{A, B, C, M}. where , , M=M1+M2 and M1>M2. Subsequently, it has been shown that using M= M1+M2+M3+... The combinations of Ms should be taken so that the values of both the parts (Cn+Bn) and (Cn-Bn) should be even or odd for obtaining Z{B,C}. Hence, it has been shown that the Fermat triple can generate a) Fermat-Pramanik multiplate, b) Fermat-Pramanik Branched multiplate and c) Fermat-Pramanik deductive series. All these formalisms are useful for development of new principle of cryptography. .

Cortactin Overexpression Correlates with Poor Prognosis in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Objective： To investigate cortactin expression in hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC） and explore its significance in the prognosis of HCC patients. Methods： Immunohistochemistry was performed for paraffin samples of 119 pairs of HCC tissues （HCCs） and paratumorous liver tissues （PTLTs） to evaluate cortactin expression. The cortactin expression difference in HCCs and PTLTs were analyzed by the McNemar＇s test. The relationship of cortactin expressions in HCCs and clinicopathologic factors was analyzed with Mann-Whitney U test. The Kaplan-Meier method and log-rank test were employed to compare the overall survival between Cortactin negative expression group, weak expression group and strong expression group. Expression of cortactin was further determined in 19 pairs of fresh HCCs and PTLTs specimens with Western blotting. Results： Cortactin expression rate was significantly higher in HCCs （53/119, 44.5%） than that in PTLTs （2/119, 1.7%）（P〈0.001）. The upregulated cortactin expression in HCCs was significantly correlated to absence of capsule formation （P=0.012）, vascular invasion （P=0.037） and high Edmondson-Steiner grade （P=0.020）, and predicted shorter overall survival. Western blotting demonstrated that cortactin expression was upregulated in 9 out of 19 HCCs （47.4%） compared to corresponding PTLTs. Conclusion： Cortactin expression is upregulated in HCC and is related to shorter overall survival of patients, suggesting that cortactin might play roles in the metastasis of HCC and predict a poor prognosis of HCC patients.

Programmed cell death occurs in browning explants of Fraxinus mandshurica during somatic embryogenesis, but the underlying mechanism is unclear. In this study, single cotyledons of zygotic embryos of F. mandshurica were used as explants. Mitochondrial structure and function, caspase-3-like protease activity, hydrogen peroxide metabolism, and nitric oxide accumulation induced by high concentrations of sucrose and plant growth regulators were studied. The results show that plant growth regulators induced somatic embryogenesis and also promoted explant browning. High sucrose concentrations had similar effects. High concentrations of sucrose and plant growth regulators led to the accumulation of hydrogen peroxide and nitric oxide which induced changes in mitochondrial structure and function such as modifications in mitochondrial morphology, increased membrane permeability, decreased membrane potential, and the release of cytochrome c into the cytoplasm. An increase in caspase-3-like protease activity triggered programmed cell death in some browning explant cells. During somatic embryogenesis there were increased activities of superoxide dismutase, peroxidase, and catalase, which are associated with hydrogen peroxide metabolism and jointly maintain reactive oxygen species levels. Intracellular nitric oxide synthase and nitrate reductase activities were not significantly correlated with nitric oxide content. Instead, intracellular nitric oxide may be derived from non-enzymatic reactions. Our results indicate that hydrogen peroxide and nitric oxide may function as signals, playing key roles in somatic embryogenesis and programmed cell death of explant cells of F. mandshurica. The interaction between nitric oxide and reactive oxygen species determines the occurrence of programmed cell death in explant cells;somatic embryogenesis and programmed cell death are positively regulated by hydrogen peroxide. However, the regulation of nitric oxide is complex.

An efficient cell suspension culture system has been initiated using callus obtained from mature seeds of the Chinese Japonica variety Eryi 105 as a source. Over the last 12 months, using the ″Nottingham Method″, protoplasts have been produced from these cell suspensions, and via the PEG method of transformation. 45 regenerated plants were obtained from DNA-treated protoplasts selected by 80μg/ml G418. The research of molecular analysis on those plantlets is being carried on by Plant Genetic Manipulation Group, department of Life Science, University of Nottingham, U.K.
