A new transition path （γ angle deformation path） is put forward and used to characterize the wurtzite-rocksalt transition in AlN. The enthalpy surface and the contour plot of enthalpy difference at equilibrium pressure are obtained by first-principles pseudopotential method within the generalized gradient approximation. The phase transition is needed to overcome two barriers and a metaphase arises between them. The total barrier height is 0.26eV. The pressure region of the phase transition is estimated to be 13.9-23.5 GPa, in which the experimental result is well located. Along the least barrier path, the changes of density of states and the fields of charge density difference are investigated. The similarities and differences between γ angle deformation path and the orthorhombic deformation path are analyzed.

The Influence of Phlorotannins and Bromophenols on the Feeding Behavior of Marine Herbivorous Gastropod <i>Turbo cornutus</i>

The influence of phlorotannins and bromophenols on the feeding behavior of marine herbivores was determined using bioassay of Turbo cornutus. It was found that phloroglucinol and its oligomers isolated from the brown alga Eisenia bicyclis (eckol, fucofuroeckol A, phlorofucofuroeckol A, dieckol, and 8,8’-bieckol) had a deterrent effect against feeding behavior of T. cornutus in the concentration of algal body, respectively. In the case of the examination of 0.1 mM concentration, although fucofuroeckol A and phlorofucofuroeckol A significantly reduced feeding by T. cornutus, phloroglucinol and 8,8’-bieckol did not show any significant influence on feeding behavior, and eckol and dieckol had stimulating activity. 2,4-Dibromophenol and 2,4,6-tribromophenol, which are major components of extracellular secretions from Eisenia and Ecklonia species, caused the death, the torpidity, and the decreased appetite of T. cornutus at the concentration of 0.1 mM. In addition, 2,4-dibromophenol had strong feeding deterrent activity at the concentration of 1 μM. These results indicate that phlorotannins and bromophenols act as chemical defense agents of brown algae against environmental stresses such as the herbivore attack.

Objectives:The purpose of this paper was to construct a reliable methodology to discriminate the geographical origins of Chuanminshen violaceum Sheh et Shan planted in different regions in Sichuan,*** and methods:Fatty acid profiles of roots and leaves of *** planted in various regions of Sichuan Province in China,namely Guangyuan(gy),Langzhong(LZ),Jintang(JT),Bazhong(BZ),and Shuangling(SL),were determined using GC-MS followed by multivariate statistical analyses,including orthogonal partial least-squares discriminant analysis and hierarchical clustering ***:Leaves of *** showed the highest contents of hexadecatrienoic acid(3.21 g/kg),linoleic acid(6.62 g/kg),andα-linolenic acid(7.24 g/kg),which were all higher than those contained in *** violaceum samples collected from LZ,JT,and gy could be clearly distinguished based on fatty acid profiles of leaves and those collected from LZ,gy,and BZ could be clearly distinguished based on fatty acid profiles of ***:Chemometric method is used as a potential approach for analyses of fatty acid profiles of roots and leaves to control the quality of *** and their powered products.

This study investigated the effect of gamma radiation on the digestibility and functional properties of rice *** cultivars IRGA417 and IAC202 were used for isolation of starch by the alkaline *** samples were irradiated with 1,2 and 5 k gy doses of ^(60)Co at a rate of 0.4 k gy/h.A control sample,which was not irradiated,was used for *** and control starches were characterized by in vitro starch digestibility,total dietary fiber,color,water absorption index,water solubility index,syneresis,swelling factor,amylose leaching,pasting properties and gel *** changed starch digestibility differently in either *** radiation doses promoted increase in the color parameter b*(yellow),elevation in the capacity to absorb water,and solubility in water as well as the amylose leached from granules for both *** properties showed a decrease that was proportional to the dose applied,caused by the depolymerization of starch *** firmness of the starch from IAC202 was inversely proportional to the radiation dose applied,whereas for IRGA417,there was a reduction at 5 k gy *** starches can be modified by irradiation to exhibit different functional characteristics and they can be used by the food industries in products such as soups,desserts,flans,puddings and others.

This study evaluated the starch digestibility, physicochemical properties and cooking characteristics of polished rice（varieties IRGA417 and IAC202） subjected to the doses of 0（as the control）, 1, 2 and 5 k gy of gamma radiation. The highest dose decreased the apparent amylose content, peak viscosity, water absorption and volume expansion. Irradiation increased the solid loss by 119% and 187% for IAC202 and IRGA417, respectively, when comparing the higher dose with the control. For IAC202, irradiation decreased the rapidly digestible starch and increased the slowly digestible starch（SDS） and resistant starch（RS）. IRGA417 showed an elevation of SDS and a reduction in RS. And 1 k gy dose of gamma radiation generated the highest level of RS for both the two varieties and presented the smallest changes in other physicochemical and cooking properties.

Green spaces in urban and suburban areas play a significant role in helping settlements adapt to climate *** design,quantity,quality,and location of green spaces influence their ability to provide benefits to people and enhance the quality of *** green spaces,if adequately managed,can enhance the environmental *** study,based on a questionnaire survey and the Motivation/Attitude-Driven Behaviour(MADB)model,investigated how the attitudes and behaviours of residents shape private green spaces in 12 settlements of the 4 city regions(Cluj region,Nitra region,Kecskemét region,and györ region)in 3 Central European countries(Hungary,Slovakia,and Romania).The results showed that beautiful natural environment,abundance of green spaces,beautiful settlement and streetscape,and village atmosphere were mentioned most often,along with good quality of life,with a mention rate of over 70.00%in the four city *** also played a significant role in the management of green spaces,showing that convenience factors(less work,less waste,and cheaper management)more important for those who live in settlements nearer to the *** importance of biodiversity and ecology was positively correlated with socio-economic status such as education and financial ***,the importance of the utility of green spaces was less prevalent among original villagers and ***,we found that the percentage of green spaces of settlers is slightly higher than that of original *** results of factor analysis revealed that socio-economic status can influence respondents’attitudes towards green *** suggests to increase ecological awareness of residents,especially for new settlers,and promote good management techniques for green *** study can improve the awareness of urban planners about the importance of green spaces in suburban areas.
