Background: There is large variation in amino acids requirements among pigs,hence feeding pigs individually with daily tailored diets or in groups with a single feed may require different levels of ***,the response to different threonine levels(70%,85%,100%,115%,and 130% of the ideal threonine:lysine protein ratio of 0.65) was studied in growing pigs raised in a conventional group phase-feeding(GPF) system or fed individually using individual precision-feeding(IPF) *** a 21-day trial,110 barrows(25 ± 0.80 kg body weight) were housed in the same room and fed using electronic *** pigs per treatment were slaughtered at the end of the ***: Threonine intake increased linearly for the IPF and GPF pigs(P < 0.05).Lysine intake was similar across the *** daily gain,gain:feed ratio,and protein deposition were affected linearly by threonine level(P < 0.05)in both feeding *** deposition in the GPF pigs was maximized at 150 g/d and a 0.65 threonine:lysine ratio,whereas protein deposition increased linearly in the IPF *** Met and serine levels were 11 and 7% higher,respectively,in the IPF pigs than in the GPF pigs(P < 0.05).Dietary threonine increased(P < 0.05)threonine concentration in the longissimus dorsi in a quadratic manner in the IPF pigs,whereas there was no effect in the GPF *** dorsi collagen decreased as dietary threonine increased in the IPF and GPF pigs(P < 0.10).Carcass muscle crude protein was 2% higher in the GPF pigs than in the IPF pigs(P < 0.05).Conclusions: Individual pigs are able to modulate growth and the composition of growth according to threonine *** average amino acid ratio value that is currently used for GPF cannot be used for IPF.

This research was aimed at isolating and identifying the predominant lactic acid bacteria(LAB) in the traditional Chinese salt-fermented soybean food,douchi,from Yunnan,*** predominant LAB present were isolated and identified by conventional culture-dependent methods combined with molecular biological *** hundred and sixty isolates were obtained from thirty kinds of traditional fermented douchi from six cities and counties in Yunnan,and those strains were divided into twelve groups by their morphological and biochemical *** on 16S ribosomal DNA(rDNA) sequencing and analysis,56 representative strains were identified as belonging to 6 genera and 14 species:Lactobacillus(4 spp.),Weissella(3 spp.),Pediococcus(2 spp.),Staphylococcus(2 spp.),Enterococcus(1 sp.),and Bacillus(2 spp.).The results show that douchi contains a large natural population of LAB of diverse composition from which some strains could be selected as starters for functional fermented *** is the first study on the original douchi from Yunnan,and the results suggest that it may be a useful source for the isolation of *** study has also laid a foundation for further research on developing functional douchi products.

Canola plants were fumigated in open-top chambers with ozone（O3）（120 ppb）under well-watered（WW）and water-stressed（WS）conditions for 4 ***-fumigated plants were also studied to facilitate comparison between treatments for the same week and over ***,the treatments were：WW,WW-O3,WS and *** fast chlorophyll a fluorescence transients OJIP for the four treatments emitted upon illumination of dark-adapted leaves were measured after week 1,2,3,4 and analysed by the JIP-test to evaluate the resulting changes in photosynthetic *** fumigation led to a decline of total performance index（PI（total））in well-watered *** effect of O3 was minor under drought conditions,as revealed by a decrease of PI（total） by 3%.The PI（total） decreased as the treatment was prolonged,due to leaf ageing for all cases and the decline was more pronounced under *** the average of all weeks,WW had the highest PI（total)and the lowest WW-O3（decrease by 27%）,while in WS and WS-O3,it was lower than WW（14 and 17%,respectively）.We found that the absorption（ABS）/reaction centre（RC）increases,while the maximum quantum yield of primary photochemistry（φ（Po））undergoes slight changes,and trapping（TR0）/RC closely followed the increase in ABS/*** indicates that O3and drought caused an increase in the functional antenna *** maximum quantum yield of primary photochemistry showed slight differences for all treatments and over time,suggesting that this parameter is less sensitive to drought and O3 ***,the more sensitive components of the photosynthetic electron transport chain appeared to be the probability that an electron from the intersystem electron carriers is transferred to reduce end electron acceptors at the PSI acceptor side（δ（Ro））and the RC density on a chlorophyll basis（RC/ABS）.

The aim of this paper was to study the effect of combination of Lactobacillus strains and tryptophan-rich diet on the intestinal barrier function of Balb/c mice exposed to a cocktail of antibiotics (ABX)and dextran sodium sulfate (DSS). Several Lactobacillus strains isolated from the healthy human fecal sample was found to utilize tryptophan(Trp) to produce indole derivatives. The results of Trp metabolism indicated that the ability of Lactobacillus to metabolize Trp to produce Indole-3-lactic Acid (ILA)， indole-3-carboxaldehyde (I3A)， and indole-3-acetic acid (IAA)varies in vitro and in vivo. The effect of Lactobacillus with high-yielding indole derivatives on disease activity index (DAI)， colon length， and intestinal permeability was significantly better than that of Lactobacillus with low-yielding indole derivatives in a high Trp diet. And Lactobacillus combined with Trp intervention also had a certain regulatory effect on the intestinal flora of male Balb/C mice. Among them， Lactiplantibacillus plantarum (L. plantarum) DPUL-S164 produced more ILA both in vivo and in vitro， and the combination of L. plantarum DPUL-S164 and Trp significantly decreased the expression level of the serum pro-inflammatory cytokine interleukin (IL)-6 and increased the expression level of the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10， significantly improved the number of goblet cells in the mouse mucous layer and increased mucin and tight junction protein expression. Furthermore， L. plantarum DPUL-S164 combined with Trp intervention activated the aryl hydrocarbon receptors (AhR) signaling pathway. Furthermore， we found that the expression of colonic tight junction protein was positively correlated with the expression of colonic AhR， and the expression of AhR was positively correlated with the concentrations of ILA and I3A in vivo. Therefore， we conclude that the ILA as AhR ligand produced by L. plantarum DPUL-S164 regulated the AhR pathway， thus up-regulating the expression of the tight junction

Lagerstroemia indica *** a high medicinal value,its bark,leaves and flowers can be used as *** flowers are reddish,purple,or white,thereinto,the white one is called *** ***(Nichols.)Rehd.,which is a forma of *** this paper,the hypoglycemic effects of different extracts from flowers of ***(LIF)and *** ***(Nichols.)Rehd.(LIAF)were investigated byα-glucosidase inhibitory method in vitro and alloxan-induced diabetic mice model in vivo,*** results in vitro showed that ethyl acetate extracts(EA)of LIF and LIAF(IC_(50)=4.45 and 4.09µg/mL,resepectively)had the highest inhibitory activity ofα-glucosidase,and followed by n-butyl alcohol extracts(BU)(IC_(50)=17.01 and 14.58µg/mL,respectively),and the last was petroleum ether extracts(PE)(IC_(50)=103.29 and 112.47µg/mL,respectively),the activities of all extracts were higher than that of the positive control(acarbose,IC_(50)=1278.83µg/mL).The results in vivo showed that compared with the model control group,each dose group of LIF could significantly(Pdevelopment for diabetes.

Blueberries are a rich source of anthocyanins, which are associated with health benefits contributing to a reduced risk for many diseases. The present study identified the functional Gardenblue blueberry （Vaccinium ashei Reade） anthocyanin extracts （GBBAEs） and evaluated their capacity and underlying mechanisms in protecting murine RAW 264.7 cells from lipopolysaccharide （LPS）-stimulated inflammation in vitro. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay （ELISA） kit results showed that GBBAEs significantly inhibited the production of nitric oxide （NO）, prostaglandin E2 （PGE2）, interleukin-6 （IL-6）, IL-113, and interferon-y （INF-y）. Real-time polymerase chain reaction （PCR） analysis in- dicated that the mRNA expression levels of IL-6, IL-113, tumor necrosis factor-α （TNF-α）, monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 （MCP-1）, and cyclooxygenase 2 （COX-2） were suppressed in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. Additionally, Western blot analysis was used to evaluate the relative protein expression levels of COX-2 and nuclear factor-κB p65 （NF-κBp65）. All these results suggested the potential use of GBBAEs as a functional food for the treatment of in- flammatory diseases.

This research was aimed to study the physicochemical properties and antioxidant activity of biscuits fortified with red kidney bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) powder. Proximate compositions, total phenol content, antioxidant activity, and functional properties of red kidney bean (RKB) powder were studied before and after the incorporation of red kidney bean in the biscuits. The bean powder was mixed with wheat flour at a level of 0% as control, 10%, 20%, and 30% during dough preparation. Results revealed that RKB powder is a rich source of protein (26.25%) together with carbohydrate (59.7%), fat (2.4%), and ash (3.27%). The total phenolic content of bean powder was 14.15 mg GAE/g. Kidney bean powder showed good functional properties including water absorption capacity (149.7%), oil holding capacity (99.54%), swelling capacity (4.6%), and bulk density of 0.74 g/ml. After increasing the percentage of RKB with control, there were significant increases (p < 0.05) in the levels of protein, moisture, ash, fat, while carbohydrate content and total gross energy decreased significantly. Investigation of total phenolic content showed the increasing trend with the higher RKB fortification, which amounted to 10.31 mg GAE/g for control and 12.50 mg GAE/g for 30% RKB. DPPH radical scavenging activity was investigated for all the samples at five different concentrations. As there was an increase in the percentage of RKB and concentration of the samples, the antioxidant activity also increased significantly (p < 0.05), where IC50 value decreased from 0.0228 mg/ml for control to 0.0289 mg/ml for 10% RKB, followed by 20% and 30% RKB, respectively. Fruit traits such as cluster compactness,fruit maturity,and berry number per clusters are important to blueberry breeders and producers for making informed decisions about genotype selection related to yield traits and harvestability as well as for plant *** goal of this study was to develop a data processing pipeline to count berries,to measure maturity,and to evaluate compactness(cluster tightness)automatically using a deep learning image segmentation method for four southern highbush blueberry cultivars(‘Emerald’,‘Farthing’,‘Meadowlark’,and‘Star’).An iterative annotation strategy was developed to label images that reduced the annotation time.A Mask R-CNN model was trained and tested to detect and segment individual blueberries with respect to *** mean average precision for the validation and test dataset was 78.3%and 71.6%under 0.5 intersection over union(IOU)threshold,and the corresponding mask accuracy was 90.6%and 90.4%,*** regression of the detected berry number and the ground truth showed an R2 value of 0.886 with a root mean square error(RMSE)of *** of the traits collected from the four cultivars indicated that‘Star’had the fewest berries per clusters,‘Farthing’had the least mature fruit in mid-April,‘Farthing’had the most compact clusters,and‘Meadowlark’had the loosest *** deep learning image segmentation technique developed in this study is efficient for detecting and segmenting blueberry fruit,for extracting traits of interests related to machine harvestability,and for monitoring blueberry fruit development.
