Nanoparticles have enormous potential for bioimaging and biolabeling applications, in which conventional organically based fluorescent labels degrade and fail to provide long-term tracking. Thus, the development of approaches to make fluorescent probes water soluble and label cells efficient is desirable for most biological applications. Here, we report on the fabrication and charac- terization of self-assembled nanodots （SANDs） from 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane （APTES） as a probe for protein labeling. We show that fluorescent SAND probes exhibit both bright photoluminescence and biocompatibility in an aqueous environment. Selective in vitro imaging using protein and carbohydrate labeling of hepatoma cell lines are demonstrated using biocompatible SANDs conjugated with avidin and galactose, respectively. Cytotoxicity tests show that conjugated SAND particles have negligible effects on cell proliferation. Unlike other synthetic systems that require multistep treatments to achieve robust surface functionalization and to develop flexible bioconjugation strategies, our results demonstrate the versatility of this one-step SAND fabrication method for creating multicolor fluorescent probes with the tailored functionalities, effident emission, as well as excellent biocompatibility, required for broad biological use.

Background:In recent years,there has been increased research interest in both smartphone addiction and social media addiction as well as the development of psychometric instruments to assess these ***,there is a lack of psychometric evaluation for instruments assessing smartphone addiction and social media addiction in *** present study evaluated the psychometric properties and gender measurement invariance of the Thai version of the Smartphone Application-Based Addiction Scale(SABAS)and Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale(BSMAS).Method:A total of 801 Thai university students participated in an online survey from January 2022 to July 2022 which included demographic information,SABAS,BSMAS,and the Internet Gaming Disorder Scale-Short Form(IGDS9-SF).Results:Confirmatory Factor Analyses(CFAs)found that both the SABAS and BSMAS had a one-factor *** demonstrated adequate psychometric properties of both instruments and also supported measurement invariance across ***,scores on the SABAS and BSMAS were correlated with scores on the ***:The results indicated that the SABAS and BSMAS are useful psychometric instruments for assessing the risk of smartphone addiction and social media addiction among Thai young adults.

This study describes the application of electrospray ionization mass spectrometry （ESI-MS） to investigate copper ion interaction with amoxicillin. ESI mass spectra of Cu-amoxicillin complexes show complex ions at m/z 828, 792, 753, 731,428, 388 and 366 corresponding to [63Cu＋（2A-H）＋2H2O]＋, [63Cu＋（2A-H）]＋, [2A＋Na]＋, [2A＋H]＊, [63Cu＋（A-H）]~, [A＋Na]~ and [A＋H]＋（where A = amoxicillin）. Based on the observed m/z values of Cu-amoxicillin complex ions, it is found that the Cu-amoxicillin ratios are 1：1 and 1：2, and the copper ions exhibited three feasible coordination numbers （2, 4 and 6） with arnoxicillin complexes. The structures and coordination numbers of copper-arnoxicillin complex ions were probed from their collisionally activated dissociation （CAD） spectra. Based on these results, it is confirmed that the copper ions could form stable tetrahedral and octahedral complexes with amoxicillin. This study validates the annlicabilitv of ESI-MS for nrobin; CODDer-amoxicillin comDlex ions.

In many port capacity upgrade projects,choosing a supplier of equipment is a complicated decision,project managers must consider many criteria to choose a supplier to ensure the project is completed on time,optimal in terms of benefit and ***,selecting the equipment supplier in this project is a multi-criteria decision-making *** multicriteria decision-making(MCDM)model is applied in many fields to select the optimal solution,but there are very few studies using the MCDM model to support project managers in evaluating and selecting optimal solutions in port capacity upgrade *** this research,the authors combine Fuzzy Analytic Network Process model and Weighted Aggregated Sum Product Assessment concepts to develop a decision support system in port capacity upgrade *** scientific and practical contribution of this study is to successfully propose a decision support model in a fuzzy *** results of the study will be a useful guideline to assist decision makers in port capacity upgrading projects in Taiwan as well as in other countries around the world.

Modulating the immune microenvironment to establish sustained positive feedback within immune pathways represents a promising avenue for the treatment of ***,the precise and efficient delivery of therapeutic systems to the subcutaneous basal layer to modulate immune disorders is a major challenge in the treatment of autoimmune *** this project,we introduce a dual-functional microneedle(DF-MN)designed to combine MNs with multiple release kinetics and immunotherapy,the programmed treatment is achieved through segmented design of the MN structure,realizing the unification of rapid and long-lasting treatment of autoimmune *** vivo imaging results showed that GelMA@M-CSF showed fluorescent signals after 5 days of delivery to subcutaneous tissues,whereas HA@IL-13 showed minimal fluorescent signals after 2 *** multistage release behavior of MNs and the diffusion mechanism of drugs were explained at the molecular level,in combination with coarse-grained molecular ***,DF-MN can successfully induce macrophage reprogramming in vitro and ameliorate overall symptoms in a psoriasis mice model,suggesting that it has the potential to be an effective strategy for the treatment of psoriasis and portends to be a transformative platform for the treatment of other autoimmune diseases.

Potential role and therapeutic implications of glutathione peroxidase 4 in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease

Alzheimer's disease is an age-related neurodegenerative disorder with a complex and incompletely understood pathogenesis. Despite extensive research, a cure for Alzheimer's disease has not yet been found. Oxidative stress mediates excessive oxidative responses, and its involvement in Alzheimer's disease pathogenesis as a primary or secondary pathological event is widely accepted. As a member of the selenium-containing antioxidant enzyme family, glutathione peroxidase 4 reduces esterified phospholipid hydroperoxides to maintain cellular redox homeostasis. With the discovery of ferroptosis, the central role of glutathione peroxidase 4 in anti-lipid peroxidation in several diseases, including Alzheimer's disease, has received widespread attention. Increasing evidence suggests that glutathione peroxidase 4 expression is inhibited in the Alzheimer's disease brain, resulting in oxidative stress, inflammation, ferroptosis, and apoptosis, which are closely associated with pathological damage in Alzheimer's disease. Several therapeutic approaches, such as small molecule drugs, natural plant products, and non-pharmacological treatments, ameliorate pathological damage and cognitive function in Alzheimer's disease by promoting glutathione peroxidase 4 expression and enhancing glutathione peroxidase 4 activity. Therefore, glutathione peroxidase 4 upregulation may be a promising strategy for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. This review provides an overview of the gene structure, biological functions, and regulatory mechanisms of glutathione peroxidase 4, a discussion on the important role of glutathione peroxidase 4 in pathological events closely related to Alzheimer's disease, and a summary of the advances in small-molecule drugs, natural plant products, and non-pharmacological therapies targeting glutathione peroxidase 4 for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. The effects of strontium aluminates of SrAl2O4：Eu2＋,Dy3＋（SAED） and boron-modified SAED （BSAED） phases synthesized from a sol-gel process on thermoluminescence （TL） along with their afterglow properties were systematically investigated with thermal activation in the different atmospheres. The result showed that the addition of boron and the reduction routes of Eu3＋to Eu2＋ in SrAl2O4：Dy3＋were related to phosphorescent decay properties. The aid of Dy3＋to induce the hole-trapping effect required both SAED and BSAED to be heated at 1300°C under the H2/N2（5%：95%） atmosphere. However, the trapping behavior of the reductions of SAED in nitrogen was similar to the compound without Dy3＋co-doping SrAl2O4：Eu2＋（SAE） in H2/N2（5%：95%）. BSAED showed deeper traps in situ compared to SAED which contained no boron, and this led to the better afterglow properties of BSAED than those of SAED. The afterglow spectrum of BSAED showed two peaks at 400±1 nm and 485±1 nm, which were two individuals composed and contributed from different depths of traps at 0.57 and 0.76eV, accordingly. The depth of the traps was calculated from the Hoogenstraaten’s plot of glow curves. The calculations for SAED and SAE were at around 0.43 and 0.18eV, respectively.

A new and efficient neural-network and finite-difference hybrid method is developed for solving Poisson equation in a regular domain with jump discontinuities on embedded irregular *** the solution has low regularity across the interface,when applying finite difference discretization to this problem,an additional treatment accounting for the jump discontinuities must be ***,we aim to elevate such an extra effort to ease our implementation by machine learning *** key idea is to decompose the solution into singular and regular *** neural network learning machinery incorporating the given jump conditions finds the singular solution,while the standard five-point Laplacian discretization is used to obtain the regular solution with associated boundary *** of the interface geometry,these two tasks only require supervised learning for function approximation and a fast direct solver for Poisson equation,making the hybrid method easy to implement and *** two-and three-dimensional numerical results show that the present hybrid method preserves second-order accuracy for the solution and its derivatives,and it is comparable with the traditional immersed interface method in the *** an application,we solve the Stokes equations with singular forces to demonstrate the robustness of the present method.
