Energy injection, transport, and dissipation in Earth's magnetosphere

The Earth's magnetosphere is a region occupied by many artificial satellites, and also is a region that spacecraft must cruise during the deep-space exploration. In this sense, the Earth's magnetosphere is closely related to human activity and is a candidate for us to expand our living space. Generally, the Earth's magnetosphere can preclude most energetic particles from the Sun and the interstellar space, effectively protecting human beings on the Earth from being attacked and thus making the Earth to be a habitable planet. However, in some conditions, the Earth's magnetosphere becomes dynamic and energetic, and consequently may damage the artificial satellites, threaten the astronauts' health, and disrupt the ground infrastructure, which leads to a decline in the national economy. Therefore, investigating how energy is injected into the magnetosphere, how it is transported in the magnetosphere, and how it is ultimately dissipated in the magnetosphere are the key issues in space physics. Targeting these key issues, in this paper, we review the recent progress on them. Particularly, we introduce the relevant scientific questions,models, methods, and spacecraft missions, for better building a physical link among the energy injection, transport, and dissipation in the magnetosphere, present an energy chain of the magnetosphere, reveal the relationship between such energy chain and the space weather events, and discuss the forecasting and warning methods for energetic-particle events in the magnetosphere. The magnetospheric energy chain discussed in this paper will help us reveal the mechanisms of space weather events, establish the models of space environment, and forecast the disastrous space weather events.

River-dominated lacustrine deltas typically consist of multiple lobes due to autogenic lobe switching that occurs over short time scales. However, the switching patterns of multiple lobes in these deltas remain poorly understood, and the architectural features attributed to lobe switching are also lacking. By integrating Delft3D simulations, flume experiments, and modern deposit analysis, we proposed that autogenic lobe switching follows a cyclic pattern. Autocyclicity begins with the formation of an offshore lobe and concludes after a series of longshore lobe growth events, marked by longshore avulsions occurring along the sides of offshore distributary *** avulsions follow a sequence that usually occurs earlier distally than proximally and subsequently occurs on one longshore side and then on the other side. Each lobe begins with rapid growth, which gradually slows and then stops once a channel avulsion is influenced by the backwater effect that triggers lobe switching. Three signals indicate lobe switching: a decrease in progradation rate, foreset slope steepening coupled with topset slope gentling, and the deposition of mud-dominated sediments. The number of autocyclic events never exceeds *** first two autocyclicities contribute to more than 55% of delta length and 70% of delta area. The lobes are separated by 1-6 stages of mud-dominated accretion beds that exhibit a downstream-inclined shape and convexup or lateral overlapping pattern. This study conducts a coupled growth-geometric assessment to establish an architectural pattern for river-dominated lacustrine deltas. This architectural pattern offers valuable insights into predicting sandy lobe distribution in river-dominated lacustrine delta reservoirs, and the architecture of muddy accretion beds aids in predicting the rule of oil-water movement and distribution of remaining oil.

The low egg production of goose greatly limits the development of the industry. China possesses the most abundant goose breeds resources. In this study, genome resequencing data of swan goose(Anser cygnoides) and domesticated high and low laying goose breeds(Anser cygnoides domestiation) were used to identify key genes related to egg laying ability in geese and verify their functions. Selective sweep analyses revealed 416 genes that were specifically selected during the domestication process from swan geese to high laying geese. Furthermore,SNPs and Indels markers were used in GWAS analyses between high and low laying breed geese. The results showed that RTCB, BPIFC, SYN3, SYNE1, VIP, and ESR1 may be related to the differences in laying ability of geese. Notably, only ESR1 was identified simultaneously by GWAS and selective sweep analysis. The genotype of Indelchr3:54429172, located downstream of ESR1, was confirmed to affect the expression of ESR1 in the ovarian stroma and showed significant correlation with body weight at first egg and laying frequency of geese. CCK-8, EdU, and flow cytometry confirmed that ESR1 can promote the apoptosis of goose pre-hierarchical follicles ganulosa cells(phGCs) and inhibit their proliferation. Combined with transcriptome data, it was found ESR1 involved in the function of goose phGCs may be related to MAPK and TGF-beta signaling pathways. Overall, our study used genomic information from different goose breeds to identify an indel located in the downstream of ESR1 associated with goose laying ability. The main pathways and biological processes of ESR1 involved in the regulation of goose laying ability were identified by cell biology and transcriptomics methods. These results are helpful to further understand the laying ability characteristics of goose and improve the egg production of geese.

In current neural network algorithms for nuclide identification in high-background,poor-resolution detectors,traditional network paradigms including back-propagation networks,convolutional neural networks,recurrent neural networks,etc.,have been limited in research on γ spectrum analysis because of their inherent mathematical *** is difficult to make progress in terms of training data requirements and prediction *** contrast to traditional network paradigms,network models based on the transformer structure have the characteristics of parallel computing,position encoding,and deep stacking,which have enabled good performance in natural language processing tasks in recent ***,in this paper,a transformer-based neural network (TBNN) model is proposed to achieve nuclide identification for the first ***,the Geant4 program was used to generate the basic single-nuclide energy spectrum through Monte Carlo simulations.A multi-nuclide energy spectrum database was established for neural network training using random matrices of γ-ray energy,activity,and *** on the encoder–decoder structure,a network topology based on the transformer was built,transforming the 1024-channel energy spectrum data into a 32×32 energy spectrum sequence as the model *** experiments and adjustments of model parameters,including the learning rate of the TBNN model,number of attention heads,and number of network stacking layers,the overall recognition rate reached 98.7%.Additionally,this database was used for training AI models such as back-propagation networks,convolutional neural networks,residual networks,and long shortterm memory neural networks,with overall recognition rates of 92.8%,95.3%,96.3%,and 96.6%,*** indicates that the TBNN model exhibited better nuclide identification among these AI models,providing an important reference and theoretical basis for the practical application of transformers in the qualitative and quantitativ

Efficient Transfer of Patients with Critical Illnesses from General Wards to Intensive Care Units

Transferring patients with critical illnesses from general wards to intensive care units (ICUs) is a crucial and time-sensitive process. This article presents strategies for improving the efficiency of patient transfers, particularly in hospitals where intensive care units are located in buildings separate from general wards. Patient transfers comprise several steps: physicians issue orders, relatives are notified, equipment is prepared, and medical staff coordinate. We identified three factors that influence transfer time: preparation time for bed transfer, time required for shift handovers, and time required for between-ward patient movement. Unfamiliarity with transfer routes and long elevator wait times were factors that also influenced transfer time. The following strategies were proposed: develop a standardized material checklist, design key notes for patient transfers, and optimize transfer routes. These strategies reduced transfer times by 40% to 43%. This study demonstrates that by addressing logistical challenges and streamlining relevant procedures, hospitals can enhance safety and quality of care during patient transfers.

Study on the Fluid-Solid Coupling Seepage of the Deep Tight Reservoir Based on 3D Digital Core Modeling

Deep tight reservoirs exhibit complex stress and seepage fields due to varying pore structures,thus the seepage characteristics are significant for enhancing oil *** study conducted triaxial compression and permeability tests to investigate the mechanical and seepage properties of tight sandstone.A digital core of tight sandstone was built using Computed Tomography(CT)scanning,which was divided into matrix and pore phases by a pore equivalent diameter threshold.A fluid-solid coupling model was established to investigate the seepage characteristics at *** results showed that increasing the confining pressure decreased porosity,permeability,and flow velocity,with the pore phase becoming the dominant seepage *** and large pores closed first under increasing pressure,resulted in a steep drop in ***,permeability slightly decreased under high confining pressure,which followed a first-order exponential *** velocity increased with seepage *** the damage mainly occurred in stress-concentration regions under low seepage *** behavior followed linear Darcy flow,the damage emerged at seepage entrances under high pressure,which decreased rock elastic modulus and significantly increased permeability.

The Zongwulong Shan-Qinghai Nanshan tectonic belt of the northern Tibet Plateau experienced a protracted tectonic history， including the openings and closures of the Proto- and Paleo-Tethyan Oceans. Although the tectonic belt has been extensively studied， details regarding the tectonic processes involved in its development remain controversial. To better constrain the tectonic processes of this tectonic belt， we conducted detailed field geological mapping， zircon U-Pb geochronology， and whole-rock geochemical and Sr-Nd isotopic analyses. Our results show that intrusive rocks in the tectonic belt crystallized in ca. 292–233 Ma， perhaps in an arc/subduction setting. Geochemical and Sr-Nd isotopic data suggest that early Permian–late Triassic ultramafic-intermediate intrusions were sourced from the enriched mantle， whereas intermediate-acidic rocks were sourced from mixed crust-mantle. We present the tectonic model that involves: (1) Early Devonian–early Permian intracontinental extension occurred in the northern margin of the Qaidam continent (ca. 416 Ma–292 Ma); (2) Early Permian–late Triassic northward subduction of the Paleo-Tethyan Ocean resulted in arc magmatism (ca. 292 Ma–233 Ma); and (3) subsequent late Triassic intracontinental extension (ca. 233 Ma–215 Ma). Our results suggest that the late Paleozoic–early Mesozoic development of the Zongwulong Shan-Qinghai Nanshan was related to the opening， subduction， and slab retreat of the Paleo-Tethyan Ocean， which has key implications for the tectonic evolution of the northern Tibetan Plateau.

Extensive use of avermectin(AVM)in agriculture can seriously contaminate fish in *** acid(FA)is a strong antioxidant sourced from plants and is widely applied in food and medicine,but its protective function on the immunological damage caused by AVM is still *** this study,carp were chronically exposed to(1/1096 hr LC_(50))AVM for 30 day(s),with a dietary supplement of FA(400 mg/kg)to assess its effects on carp *** experimental groups(n=10)included:control,AVM-exposed(2.404μg/L),FA+AVM co-treated,and FA ***-term AVM exposure altered spleen tissue,reducing serum complement C3(p<0.01)and immunoglobulin M levels(p<0.001),and increasing proinflammatory tnf-α(p<0.001),il-6(p<0.001),il-1β(p<0.001),and inos mRNA levels,whilst down-regulating the anti-inflammatory tgf-β(p<0.05).Additionally,it disrupted the balance of oxidative stress indicators such asMDA(p<0.001),T-AOC,GSH,and CAT,leading to spleen tissue apoptosis(42.4%).However,the addition of FA reversed these conditions,elevated the anti-inflammatory factor,and improved spleen immune function following chronic exposure to AVMin ***,the ability to restore oxidative homeostasis in carp by adjusting the Nrf2/NQO-1 axis protected the health of spleen *** discovery also supports the development of fish feed for aquaculture.

Permanently shadowed regions(PSRs)on the Moon are potential reservoirs for water ice,making them hot spots for future lunar *** water ice in PSRs would cause distinctive changes in space weathering there,in particular reduction-oxidation processes that diff er from those in illuminated *** determine the characteristics of products formed during space weathering in PSRs,the lunar meteorite NWA 10203 with artifi cially added water was irradiated with a nanosecond laser to simulate a micro-meteorite bombardment of lunar soil containing water *** TEM results of the water-incorporated sample showed distinct amorphous rims that exhibited irregular thickness,poor stratifi cation,the appearance of bubbles,and a reduced number of npFe^(0).Additionally,EELS analysis showed the presence of ferric iron at the rim of the nanophase metallic iron particles(npFe^(0))in the amorphous rim with the involvement of *** results suggest that water ice is another possible factor contributing to oxidation during micrometeorite bombardment on the lunar *** addition,it off ers a reference for a new space weathering model that incorporates water in PSRs,which could be widespread on asteroids with volatiles.
