Prospects on mangrove knowledge services in the smart era: From plant atlas to knowledge graphs

Mangroves are crucial to the ecological security of the Earth and human well-being. Their management, conservation, and restoration are of great importance and necessitate the support of spatio-temporal information and multidisciplinary knowledge such as biology and ecology. Traditional knowledge services such as plant atlas provide illustrated textual knowledge of mangroves. However, this kind of service is oriented to information retrieval and is incapable of effectively mining and utilizing fragmented knowledge from multi-source heterogeneous data, facing the problem of “massive data, rare knowledge”. Knowledge graphs are capable of extracting, organizing, and fusing the knowledge contained in massive data into semantic networks that can be understood and computed by computers. They provide a solution for the realization of intelligent knowledge services. Focusing on the urgent need for mangrove knowledge acquisition, formal representation, and intelligent services, this paper proposes a research prospect on mangrove knowledge graphs and knowledge services. We first analyze the similarities and differences between various domain-specific concepts of Tupu. On this basis, we define the mangrove knowledge graph as a large-scale knowledge base that integrates multi-disciplinary knowledge and spatio-temporal information with mangrove ecosystems as the core. Then, we propose a research framework for mangrove knowledge services that can realize the transformation from multi-modal data to intelligent knowledge services, including multiple research levels such as ubiquitous data sensing and aggregation, knowledge organization and graph construction, and intelligent mangrove knowledge services. Subsequently, the methods and workflow for constructing mangrove knowledge graphs are introduced. Propagating subduction initiation of the Caroline Plate at the Mussau Trench

New seismic imaging from the Mussau Trench confirms that, under horizontal compression on an oceanic plate boundary, it is within the young and weak oceanic plate that a trench will develop, and it is the young plate, not so long after its birth, that starts to subduct toward the old plate. The Mesozoic Pacific Plate cannot easily bend, under the joint horizontal compression and vertical gravity pull, even with a pre-existing weak zone in place and with a large age offset across the plate boundary. The bending of the Caroline Plate near the northern end of the Mussau Trench started only after a long-time span of trench migration, and/or after a prolonged transition from initial compression to trench development. Highly contrasting trench deformation and sedimentary accretion between two parallel seismic sections support an evident migration of underthrusting or significant longitudinal heterogeneity along the trench. The swift transition from underthrusting to non-thrusting can be explained by a counter-clockwise rotation of the Caroline Plate. That miniature accretionary wedges develop even before the subduction initiates imply strong compression and uplifting before the underthrusting can kick-start. Rotation of the Caroline Plate have been halted as the Mussau Trench is seismically rather quiet and the Lyra Trough to the east shows relaxational extension.

Formation and evolution of supercritical geofluid

In this work, we provide a comprehensive review on the formation, evolution, properties, and effects of supercritical geofluid. In Earth's interior, enhanced miscibility between H2O and silicate by the addition of special components or by the increase of pressure and temperature gives rise to supercritical geofluid with a significant amount of both H2O and silicate *** formation of supercritical geofluid in magmatic-hydrothermal systems, typified by pegmatite system, is governed by meltfluid critical curve. The formation of supercritical geofluid in metamorphic systems, typified by subducted slab, is governed by the second critical end point. Experimental results suggest that the presence of boron and fluorine in pegmatite system makes it possible to form supercritical geofluid at crustal depths, but the release of supercritical geofluid from subducted slab is withheld until almost 100 km depth. A major presence of both H2O and depolymerized structural units（monomers, dimers, etc.） endows supercritical geofluid with unique physical properties including low density, low elastic moduli, low viscosity, high diffusivity,and high electrical conductivity. Supercritical geofluid can effectively mobilize a variety of elements even including high field strength elements and heavy rare earth elements. The chemical signatures of supercritical geofluid can be inherited by metasomatized mantle and mantle-derived melts, and this could give an explanation of the oxidation of arc magmas. Phase separation of supercritical geofluid through the mechanism of spinodal decomposition leads to formation of a melt network. Multiphase fluid inclusions recovered from subduction zone rocks and pegmatites are possible relics of supercritical geofluid. Supercritical geofluid can cause electrical anomaly and low seismic velocity near the top of subducted slab, and can be linked with intermediate-focus earthquakes. Efficient photocatalytic reduction of CO2 to formate by a molecular noble metal-free system

Late Paleozoic–Early Mesozoic tectonic evolution of the Zongwulong Shan-Qinghai Nanshan tectonic belt in the northern Qaidam continent， northern Tibet

The Zongwulong Shan-Qinghai Nanshan tectonic belt of the northern Tibet Plateau experienced a protracted tectonic history， including the openings and closures of the Proto- and Paleo-Tethyan Oceans. Although the tectonic belt has been extensively studied， details regarding the tectonic processes involved in its development remain controversial. To better constrain the tectonic processes of this tectonic belt， we conducted detailed field geological mapping， zircon U-Pb geochronology， and whole-rock geochemical and Sr-Nd isotopic analyses. Our results show that intrusive rocks in the tectonic belt crystallized in ca. 292–233 Ma， perhaps in an arc/subduction setting. Geochemical and Sr-Nd isotopic data suggest that early Permian–late Triassic ultramafic-intermediate intrusions were sourced from the enriched mantle， whereas intermediate-acidic rocks were sourced from mixed crust-mantle. We present the tectonic model that involves: (1) Early Devonian–early Permian intracontinental extension occurred in the northern margin of the Qaidam continent (ca. 416 Ma–292 Ma); (2) Early Permian–late Triassic northward subduction of the Paleo-Tethyan Ocean resulted in arc magmatism (ca. 292 Ma–233 Ma); and (3) subsequent late Triassic intracontinental extension (ca. 233 Ma–215 Ma). Our results suggest that the late Paleozoic–early Mesozoic development of the Zongwulong Shan-Qinghai Nanshan was related to the opening， subduction， and slab retreat of the Paleo-Tethyan Ocean， which has key implications for the tectonic evolution of the northern Tibetan Plateau.

Comparative Evaluation and Performance Analysis of Heat Exchangers Featured with Peened Surface

Heat exchangers have the potential for various engineering applications,and their performance is enriched by surface *** proposed system enriches the heat exchanger's performance by adapting a peened stainless steel（SS） surface blasted with copper,grinding,sand,and *** influences peened SS surface modified with a copper blast,grinding,sandblast,and iron blast on the surface morphology of shell and tube heat exchanger surface（STHE） is analyzed via tungsten heated cathode electron gun featured scanning electron microscope and observed coarse grain *** SS surface featured STHE performance is experimentally evaluated by different flow rates（30,60,90,and 120 L/min） underwater fluid medium functioned by the temperature ranges of 25-75℃ and its results are compared with computational fluid dynamic（CFD）/heat transfer research（HTRI） analyzed *** 60 L/min flow rate was spotted as an optimum value for both shell and tube side *** STHE is operated with a 60 L/min flow rate under the different peened surfaces and evaluated its Stanton number,Nusselt number,logarithmic mean temperature difference（LMTD）,overall heat transfer coefficient,number of transfer units（NTU）,effectiveness,and exergy *** iron blasted SS peened surface was observed to have better SHTE performance like Stanton number（0.0012）,Nusselt number（2180）,reduced LMTD of 31℃,improved overall heat transfer co-efficient of 2400 W/（m2·K）,better NTU of 0.5532,good effectiveness value of 0.451 62,and hiked exergy efficiency of 10% respectively.

Decentralized fault diagnosis of discrete-event systems with unreliable sensors using linear temporal logic

In this paper,we investigate a decentralized diagnosis problem of a discrete-evnt system(DES) subject to unreliable sensors,where the sensor observations of local diagnosers may be non-deterministic as a result of possible *** studies on decentralized robust diagnosis can only deal with different types of sensor failures separately,e.g.,all sensors suffer from the same type of sensor failures such as intermittent sensor failures or permanent sensor ***,since sensors of different local diagnosers may face different external environments and have different internal characteristics,sensors corresponding to different local diagnosers may also have their own fault *** this paper,we propose a flexible framework of decentralized diagnosis for DES subject to unreliable sensors such that sensors of different local diagnosers are permitted to have different types of sensor *** this end,we extend the existing decentralized diagnosis framework to the case where there exist common sensors broadcasting their observations to all local *** apply linear temporal logic(LTL) to constrain infinite behaviors of private sensors of local diagnosers and common ***,a new notion of φ-codiagnosability is proposed as the necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a decentralized diagnoser that works correctly under sensors,satisfying LTL-based sensor ***,we provide an effective approach to verify the φ-codiagnosability.

Rivers increasingly warmer:Prediction of changes in the thermal regime of rivers in Poland

Emphasis on future environmental changes grows due to climate change, with simulations predicting rising river temperatures globally. For Poland, which has a long history of thermal studies of rivers, such an approach has not been implemented to date. This study used 9 Global Climate Models and tested three machine-learning techniques to predict river temperature changes. Random Forest performed best, with R2=0.88 and lowest error(RMSE:2.25, MAE:1.72). The range of future water temperature changes by the end of the 21st century was based on the Shared Socioeconomic Pathway scenarios SSP2-4.5 and SSP5-8.5. It was determined that by the end of the 21st century, the average temperature will increase by 2.1°C(SSP2-4.5) and 3.7°C(SSP5-8.5). A more detailed analysis, divided by two major basins Vistula and Odra, covered about 90% of Poland's territory. The average temperature increase, according to scenarios SSP2-4.5 and SSP5-8.5 for the Odra basin rivers,is 1.6°C and 3.2°C and for the Vistula basin rivers 2.3°C and 3.8°C, respectively. The Vistula basin's higher warming is due to less groundwater input and continental climate *** findings provide a crucial basis for water management to mitigate warming effects in Poland.
