By insisting on the primacy of double-plot, Empson brackets the sometimes deceptive appearances of a text′s content to uncover and disengage the more fundamental double-plot system at work within the defining structure of the text. Empson′s thinking about the reception of double-plot structures enables Raymond Williams′s early formulations of structure of feeling, in particular the gesturing this perplexing, underdeveloped, but persistent concept makes towards understanding collective response to cultural forms. This article explores the implications of the reception of double-plot structures, drawing out the assumptions inscribed in Empson′s claims about processes at work as an audience engages with these dramatic structures.

Fighting corruption has been a signature theme in the governance of China since Xi Jinping became General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China(CCCPC)in *** the extensive attention from academic and policy discourse to this unprecedented anti-corruption elfort in CPC's history,there are studies that take the one-sided view that the effort under way is not anti-corruption in its strict sense as it relies on the Party mechanism rather than the legal system,scripted,and calculated for the narrow self-interest of factional power *** contemporary fundamental anti-corruption discourses,anchored in critical discourse analysis,and assisted by 134 circulars of intra-Party disciplinary punishments of corrupt high-ranking officials(“tigers”,dalaohu),this interdisciplinary study reveals that,by contrast,China adopts an integrated approach to corruption,which incorporates republican and liberal-rationalist beliefs and ***,it is characterized by CCCPC as leadership,the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection as political agency,both following a mentality of the rule of law,and by the coordination between intra-Party disciplinary rules and state *** approach is appropriate because it conceptualizes corruption by targeting the main feature of the corruption-related *** study contributes from a discoursal perspective to the understanding of China's anti-corruption in the Xi Jinping Era.

In this article,we examine the syntactic derivation of subject wh-words in Jordanian ***,we provide empirical evidence that questions with a subject wh-word are syntactically derived by overt movement of the given subject wh-word to the left *** empirical evidence is based on the position of the subject wh-words to the left of the high IP adverbials,including epistemic adverbials and evidentials,as well as the position of the subject wh-words relative to topical ***,we examine the intriguing ban on the use of subject wh-words in VSO sentences although non-interrogative subjects are permitted to occur in such clauses,and other wh-words may appear in their thematic positions(given the appropriate context).We show that this ban results from the effects of a proposed economy-driven condition that disallows the use of an expletive(to fill Spec,TP)while the thematic subject is available(in Spec,vP).Additionally,we show that this ban results from the interactions of the effects of criterial freezing and the conditions that licence elements in the low IP area.

In order to evaluate the effects of exogenous indole butyric acid （IBA） and callus formation on the antioxidant activity, total phenolics, and anthocyanin constituents of Morus nigra L. and M. alba L. cuttings, we investigated the variations before and after the treatment. The results indicate that anti-oxidant ability, total phenolic, and anthocyanin constituents of the callus stems of both Morus species were higher than those of non-callus forming species. There were also increases observed in anti-oxidant ability, total phenolic, and anthocyanin constituents of calli treated with IBA （1 000-3 000 mg/L）.

Raman spectroscopy provides information on bone chemical composition and structure via widely used metrics including mineral to matrix ratio, mineral crystallinity and carbonate content, collagen cross- linking ratio and depolarization ratios. These metrics are correlated with bone material properties, such as hardness, plasticity and Young＇s modulus. We review application of Raman spectroscopy to two important irradiated animal models： the mouse tibia, a model for damage to cortical bone sites including the rib （breast cancer） and to healthy tissue adjacent to extremity sarcomas, and the rat mandible, a model for radiation damage in head and neck cancer radiotherapy. Longitudinal studies of irradiated mouse tibia demonstrate that radiation-induced matrix abnormalities can persist even 26 weeks post- radiation. Polarized Raman spectroscopy shows formation of more ordered orientation of both mineral and collagen. At 8 weeks post-radiation, irradiated rat hemimandible exhibits transient hyperminer- alization, increased collagen cross-linking and decreased depolarization ratios of mineral and collagen. A standard radioprotectant, amifostine, mitigates rat mandible radiation damage, with none remaining detectable 18 weeks post-radiation. Already a powerful tool to monitor radiation damage, Raman spectroscopy may be important in development of new radiotherapy protocols and radioprotective agents. Further in vfvo studies of radiation effects on the rodent models are underway, as are development of methodologies for eventual use in human subjects.

Recognizing land use changes(LUC)and evaluating their relationship with producing dust sources are considered effective to manage the *** Kermanshah Province,Iran as study area,dusty days from 2008 to 2015 were selected and dust sources were identified applying thermal-infrared dust index(TDI),hybrid single-particle lagrangian integrated trajectory(HYSPLIT),false color composite(FCC)and true color composite(TCC)of MODerate resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS)***,the land use change map was produced using Landsat images in 2000 and ***,the distribution and frequency of the sources in each land-use change class and important dust production areas were ***,two non-parametric tests including Chisquare and Kruskal-Wallis were applied to examine the relationship between LUC and dust *** indicated that the distribution of dust sources was not identical in the study area,and the sources were mainly generated in the areas where land-use change had *** fact,different classes of LUC have different contributions to dust production,and the highest contribution refers to the deflation in gentle slope areas and lowlands where the rangeland has been converted into agriculture *** findings from this study are useful to manage and control dust in the identified sources.

Optical, Energetic and Exergetic Analyses of Parabolic Trough Collectors

Parabolic trough collectors generate thermal energy from solar energy. Especially, they are very convenient for applications in high temperature solar power systems. To determine the design parameters, parabolic trough collectors must be analysed with optical analysis. In addition, thermodynamics （energy and exergy） analysis in the development of an energy efficient system must be achieved. Solar radiation passes through Earth＇s atmosphere until it reaches on Earth＇s surface and is focused from the parabolic trough collector to the tube receiver with a transparent insulated envelope. A11 of them constitute a complex mechanism. We investigate the geometry of parabolic trough reflector and characteristics of solar radiation to the reflecting surface through Earth＇s atmosphere, and calculate the collecting totM energy in the receiver. The parabolic trough collector, of which design parameters are given, is analysed in regard to the energy and exergy analysis considering the meteorological specification in May, June, July and August in 1sparta/TUrkey, and the results are presented.
