Photonic structures at the wavelength scale offer innovative energy solutions for a wide range of applications,from high-efficiency photovoltaics to passive cooling,thus reshaping the global energy landscape.Radiative cooling based on structural and material design presents new opportunities for sustainable carbon neutrality as a zero-energy,ecologically friendly cooling strategy.In this review,in addition to introducing the fundamentals of the basic theory of radiative cooling technology,typical radiative cooling materials alongside their cooling effects over recent years are summarized and the current research status of radiative cooling materials is outlined and discussed.Furthermore,technical challenges and potential advancements for radiative cooling are forecast with an outline of future application scenarios and development trends.In the future,radiative cooling is expected to make a significant contribution to global energy saving and emission reduction.

Split Method of Multipliers and Its Application to Parallel and Distributed Logistic Regression

We consider the scenario where two variables need to be optimized simultaneously. The minimization over one variable has an analytical solution, while it is intractable for the other. Under the Lagrangian dual framework, we propose two iterative optimization algorithms, which make partial minimization and gradient descent alternatingly over two variables. The first algorithm asserts that the iteration result converges to a KKT point under proper stepsize rules, which only needs the augmented Lagrangian function to be convex over partial variable. The second algorithm provides the local attraction property around the KKT point. Our algorithms provide a general solution to parallel and distributed optimization with summable objective functions. Simulation results on parallel and distributed logistic regression classification are present, which show faster convergence rate with less computational complexity compared with other methods.

A Secure Communication Protocol for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

Mavlink is a lightweight and most widely used open-source communication protocol used for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.Multiple UAVs and autopilot systems support it,and it provides bi-directional communication between the UAV and Ground Control Station.The communications contain critical information about the UAV status and basic control commands sent from GCS to UAV and UAV to GCS.In order to increase the transfer speed and efficiency,the Mavlink does not encrypt the messages.As a result,the protocol is vulnerable to various security attacks such as Eavesdropping,GPS Spoofing,and DDoS.In this study,we tackle the problem and secure the Mavlink communication protocol.By leveraging the Mavlink packet’s vulnerabilities,this research work introduces an experiment in which,first,the Mavlink packets are compromised in terms of security requirements based on our threat model.The results show that the protocol is insecure and the attacks carried out are successful.To overcomeMavlink security,an additional security layer is added to encrypt and secure the protocol.An encryption technique is proposed that makes the communication between the UAV and GCS secure.The results show that the Mavlink packets are encrypted using our technique without affecting the performance and efficiency.The results are validated in terms of transfer speed,performance,and efficiency compared to the literature solutions such as MAVSec and benchmarked with the original Mavlink protocol.Our achieved results have significant improvement over the literature and Mavlink in terms of security.

Towards Efficient and Secure Access Control System for Mobile Cloud Computing

This paper proposes a new access architecture onmobile cloud,which introduces a middle layer sitting between mobile devices and their cloud infrastructure.This middle layer is composed of cloudlets which are deployed by cloud services providers,such as wireless network access points(APs),to improve the performance of mobile cloud servicesand be different from traditional mobile operator mode.Then based on this new architecture.we improve our previous(Attribute-basedencryption) ABE access control scheme on cloud for mobile cloud,which is proposed to offload the main amount of computations to the cloudlet as the function of cloud.Simulationresults demonstratethe new access control scheme takes into consideration response time constraints and network statusof access task execution,while satisfying certain network security for mobile cloud.

Intelligent fault-tolerant algorithm with two-stage and feedback for integrated navigation federated filtering

In order to take full advantage of federated filter in fault-tolerant design of integrated navigation system, the limitation of fault detection algorithm for gradual changing fault detection and the poor fault tolerance of global optimal fusion algorithm are the key problems to deal with. Based on theoretical analysis of the influencing factors of federated filtering fault tolerance, global fault-tolerant fusion algorithm and information sharing algorithm are proposed based on fuzzy assessment. It achieves intelligent fault-tolerant structure with two-stage and feedback, including real-time fault detection in sub-filters, and fault-tolerant fusion and information sharing in main filter. The simulation results demonstrate that the algorithm can effectively improve fault-tolerant ability and ensure relatively high positioning precision of integrated navigation system when a subsystem having gradual changing fault.

Response time improvement of AlGaN photoconductive detectors by adjusting crystal-nuclei coalescence process in metal organic vapor phase epitaxy

AlGaN photoconductive ultraviolet detectors are fabricated to study their time response characteristics. Persistent photoconductivity, a deterring factor for the detector response time, is found to be strongly related to the grain boundary density in AlGaN epilayers. By improving the crystal-nuclei coalescence process in metal organic vapor phase epitaxy, the grain-boundary density can be reduced, resulting in an-order-of-magnitude decrease in response time.

Global minimization of adaptive local image fitting energy for image segmentation

The active contour model based on local image fitting （LIF） energy is an effective method to deal with intensity inhomo- geneities, but it always conflicts with the local minimum problem because LIF has a nonconvex energy function form. At the same time, the parameters of LIF are hard to be chosen for better per- formance. A global minimization of the adaptive LIF energy model is proposed. The regularized length term which constrains the zero level set is introduced to improve the accuracy of the bound- aries, and a global minimization of the active contour model is presented, in addition, based on the statistical information of the intensity histogram, the standard deviation σ with respect to the truncated Gaussian window is automatically computed according to images. Consequently, the proposed method improves the performance and adaptivity to deal with the intensity inhomo- geneities. Experimental results for synthetic and real images show desirable performance and efficiency of the proposed method.

Influence of a two-dimensional electron gas on current-voltage characteristics of Al_(0.3)Ga_(0.7) N/GaN high electron mobility transistors

The J-V characteristics of AltGa1 tN/GaN high electron mobility transistors（HEMTs） are investigated and simulated using the self-consistent solution of the Schro dinger and Poisson equations for a two-dimensional electron gas（2DEG） in a triangular potential well with the Al mole fraction t = 0.3 as an example.Using a simple analytical model,the electronic drift velocity in a 2DEG channel is obtained.It is found that the current density through the 2DEG channel is on the order of 10^13 A/m^2 within a very narrow region（about 5 nm）.For a current density of 7 × 10^13 A/m62 passing through the 2DEG channel with a 2DEG density of above 1.2 × 10^17 m^-2 under a drain voltage Vds = 1.5 V at room temperature,the barrier thickness Lb should be more than 10 nm and the gate bias must be higher than 2 V.

A New Metaheuristic Approach to Solving Benchmark Problems: Hybrid Salp Swarm Jaya Algorithm

Metaheuristic algorithms are one of the methods used to solve optimization problems and find global or close to optimal solutions at a reasonable computational cost.As with other types of algorithms,in metaheuristic algorithms,one of the methods used to improve performance and achieve results closer to the target result is the hybridization of algorithms.In this study,a hybrid algorithm(HSSJAYA)consisting of salp swarm algorithm(SSA)and jaya algorithm(JAYA)is designed.The speed of achieving the global optimum of SSA,its simplicity,easy hybridization and JAYA’s success in achieving the best solution have given us the idea of creating a powerful hybrid algorithm from these two algorithms.The hybrid algorithm is based on SSA’s leader and follower salp system and JAYA’s best and worst solution part.HSSJAYA works according to the best and worst food source positions.In this way,it is thought that the leader-follower salps will find the best solution to reach the food source.The hybrid algorithm has been tested in 14 unimodal and 21 multimodal benchmark functions.The results were compared with SSA,JAYA,cuckoo search algorithm(CS),firefly algorithm(FFA)and genetic algorithm(GA).As a result,a hybrid algorithm that provided results closer to the desired fitness value in benchmark functions was obtained.In addition,these results were statistically compared using wilcoxon rank sum test with other algorithms.According to the statistical results obtained from the results of the benchmark functions,it was determined that HSSJAYA creates a statistically significant difference in most of the problems compared to other algorithms.

Assistive devices for disabled people with the help of Brain-Computer Interaction(BCI)technology are becoming vital bio-medical engineering.People with physical disabilities need some assistive devices to perform their daily tasks.In these devices,higher latency factors need to be addressed appropriately.Therefore,the main goal of this research is to implement a real-time BCI architecture with minimum latency for command actuation.The proposed architecture is capable to communicate between different modules of the system by adopting an automotive,intelligent data processing and classification approach.Neuro-sky mind wave device has been used to transfer the data to our implemented server for command propulsion.Think-Net Convolutional Neural Network(TN-CNN)architecture has been proposed to recognize the brain signals and classify them into six primary mental states for data classification.Data collection and processing are the responsibility of the central integrated server for system load minimization.Testing of implemented architecture and deep learning model shows excellent results.The proposed system integrity level was the minimum data loss and the accurate commands processing mechanism.The training and testing results are 99%and 93%for custom model implementation based on TN-CNN.The proposed real-time architecture is capable of intelligent data processing unit with fewer errors,and it will benefit assistive devices working on the local server and cloud server.
