Constant load tests in NS4 solution purged with N2-5%CO2 gas mixture were conducted on American Petroleum Institute （API） X80 pipeline steel applied in the 2nd West-East （;as Pipeline project with and without preload. The results show that cracks could initiate and propagate in X80 pipeline steel in near-neutral pH environment under a constant load condition. The life of crack initiation and propagation increased with decreasing applied stress. Preload did not change its corrosion behavior obviously. However, preload reduced the time for crack initiation.

A sensitive square-wave voltammetric method for the determination of lmidacloprid （IMD） was developed using electrochemically pretreated boron-doped diamond （BDD） electrode. Aqueous solutions were prepared with Confidor 200 SL as the commercial formulation of IMD. Sodium sulfate （Na2SO4） was used as supporting electrolyte. The influence of operating parameters, such as the pH of the medium, frequency, pulse amplitude, scan increment and the concentration of IMD was investigated. An irreversible cathodic peak, corresponding to the reduction oflMD is observed at 1.21 V （vs. SCE） and the electrode reaction was controlled by adsorption. Under optimized conditions, the square-wave reduction peak current was linear over the concentration range of （30-200 μmol L 1） with a detection and quantification limits of 8.60 μmol L 1 and 28.67 μmol L 1, respectively. The results were compared with spectrophotometry and HPLC methods under some conditions and found to be in good agreement. To investigate applicability to real samples, the proposed method was applied to the determination of IMD in plum juice.

A carbon paste modified sensor based on a novel composite of zinc oxide nanoparticles deposited on reduced graphene oxide(ZnO-rGrO) and Prussian blue(PB) was drop-cast(ZnO-rGrO-PB/MCPE) for the sensitive estimation of Rutin(Rtn) at pH *** high surface area of ZnO-rGrO and electrocatalytic property of PB promotes the oxidation of Rtn. Field emission scanning electron microscope(FE-SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX) techniques were employed to confirm the deposition of ZnO-rGrO and PB on carbon paste electrode(CPE). The ability of ZnO-rGrO-PB/MCPE in charge transfer at the interface was investigated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS). The heterogeneous rate constant(ks) and the charge transfer coefficient(α) have been calculated as 6.08 s^(-1) and 0.74 respectively. This sensor showed a wide linear response for Rtn from 7.0×10^(-8)to 7.0×10^(-6) M and 7.0×10^(-6) to 1.0×10^(-4) M with a limit of detection(2.05±0.04)×10^(-8) M(S/N=3). The application of ZnO-rGrO-PB/MCPE was found in the analysis of Rtn in fruit juice samples using standard addition method. This sensor showed good reproducibility, stability, selectivity and sensitivity.

Layered double hydroxide(LDH) has been widely developed in the field of corrosion and protection in recent years based on its unique characteristics including anion capacity, anion exchange ability, structure memory effect, and barrier resistance. This paper comprehensively reviews recent work on the preparations, properties of LDH in the forms of powder and film and their applications in different environments in corrosion and protection. Some novel perspectives are also proposed at the end of the review for future research in corrosion and protection field.

Microstructure characterization and electrochemical corrosion behavior of Zn and Zn/Mg alloys in H_2SO_4 solution

The three systems of pure Zn, Zn-0.10% Mg(mass fraction), and Zn-0.15% Mg(mass fraction) were cast under controlled atmosphere and their microstructures were characterized by SEM/EDS analysis. The electrochemical corrosion behavior of these three samples was examined in the very aggressive solution of 50% H2SO4(mass fraction) using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) and potentiodynamic polarization measurements. The results show that magnesium improves in some extent the corrosion resistance of pure Zn in 50% H2SO4(mass fraction) confirmed by EIS test. Results of polarization measurment also demonstrate that small amount of Mg significantly improves the passivation of Zn in the test solution. Results of surface morphology of the samples and EDS analysis reveal that Mg reduced the corrosion attacks to pure Zn.

Ordered titanium dioxide nanotubes （TiOaNTs） modified with indium tin oxide （ITO） films were obtained via magnetron sputtering, in which ITO plate was used as a target, onto the as-anodized titania support followed by the calcination process. The morphology of fabricated material with deposited oxide was investigated using scanning electron microscopy. Raman and UV-Vis spectroscopies were utilized to characterize crystalline phase and optical properties of prepared samples, whereas X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy allowed determining the binding energy of present elements. In the case of titanium, three various oxidation states were identified and also the presence of indium and tin was confirmed. The electrochemical test carried out when the sample was exposed to light allows for selection of the most photoactive material. The highest photocurrent was registered when only 5-nm ITO layer was sputtered, and it equals 256 and 133 μA cm^-2 for the electrode material immersed in 0.5 M KOH and K2SO4 electrolytes, respectively, that is accordingly 3.5 and 4.4 times higher than the one observed for pristine titania. Furthermore, ITO-modified titania exhibits excellent photostability upon prolonged illumination that is of key importance for possible application in light-driven processes.

The effect of cold rolling and post-rolling heat treatment on the microstructural and electrochemical properties of the 316L stainless steel was ***-pass and four-pass cold-rolled stainless steel specimens were heat-treated by annealing at 900℃followed by quenching in *** the cold rolling,the microstructure of the as-received specimen transformed from austenite to strain-inducedα′-martensite due to significant plastic deformation that also resulted in significant grain elongation(i.e.,~33%and 223%increases in the grain elongation after two and four rolling passes,respectively).The hardness of the heat-treated as-received specimen decreased from HV 190 to 146 due to the recovery and recrystallization of the austenite grain *** cyclic polarization scans of the as-rolled and heat-treated specimens were obtained in 0.9wt%NaCl *** pitting potential of the four-pass rolled specimen was significantly increased from 322.3 to 930.5 mV after post-rolling heat *** beneficial effect of the heat treatment process was evident from~10-times-lower corrosion current density and two-orders-of-magnitude-lower passive current density of the heat-treated specimens compared with those of the as-rolled ***,appreciably lower corrosion rate(3.302×10^(−4)mm/a)and higher pitting resistance(1115.5 mV)were exhibited by the postrolled heat-treated specimens compared with the as-rolled 316L stainless steel specimens.

A new technique—series electro-pulse discharge (SEPD)—was developed as a surface coating process. In this process, both positive and negative poles of a pulse power were used as the depositing electrodes and the substrate alloy was used as an induction electrode. The physical process for such SEPD was tested by measuring the relationship between the discharge voltages and gaps in a pin-plate-pin system. Microcrystalline Ni20Cr alloy coatings and oxidedispersed Ni20Cr alloy coatings were prepared on Ni20Cr alloy surface by using a vibrating SEPD device. Oxidation at 950°C in ambient air showed that the microcrystalline Ni20Cr alloy coatings greatly improved the oxidation resistance of the substrate alloy. The addition of dispersed Y2O3 nano-particles into the microcrystalline coatings was found to further reduce the oxidation rate and enhance the oxide spallation resistance.

Sulfate-reducing bacteria(SRB)has been pointed out as one of the causative agents of microbial induced corrosion in the marine *** address this problem,novel strategies are being experimented as against the earlier methods which have been banned due to their toxic effects on useful aquatic ***,the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of non-toxic perfluorodecyltrichlorosilane(PFDTS)on resistance of hydrophobic poly(dimethylsiloxane)/phosphoric acid-treated zinc oxide(PDMS/PA-treated ZnO)coatings to SRB-induced biofouling and *** surface features of the coatings before and after exposure to SRB/NaCl solution were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM).Wettability of the coatings before and after exposure was also *** interaction of SRB with the coatings was investigated by FTIR *** resistance performance of the modified coatings against SRB-induced corrosion was monitored by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS).The EIS measurements revealed that 0.20 g PFDTS-based coating displayed highest corrosion resistance with impedance modulus of 6.301×10^10 after 15 d of exposure to SRB/NaCl *** results were corroborated by surface and chemical interaction analyses,and thus,indicate that 0.20 g PFDTSmodified PDMS/PA-treated ZnO coating has potentials for excellent SRB-induced corrosion resistance and anti-biofouling performance.
