Selective Harmonics Elimination Technique for Artificial Bee Colony Implementation

In this research,an Artificial Bee Colony(ABC)algorithm based Selective Harmonics Elimination(SHE)technique is used as a pulse generator in a reduced switch fifteen level inverter that receives input from a PV system.Pulse width modulation based on Selective Harmonics Elimination is mostly used to suppress lower-order harmonics.A high gain DC-DC-SEPIC converter keeps the photovoltaic(PV)panel’s output voltage constant.The Grey Wolf Optimization(GWO)filter removes far more Photovoltaic panel energy from the sunlight frame.To eliminate voltage harmonics,this unique inverter architecture employs a multi-carrier duty cycle,a high-frequency modulation approach.The proposed ABC harmonics elimination approach is compared to SHE strategies based on Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO)and Flower Pollination Algorithm(FPA).The suggested system’s performance is simulated and measured using the MATLAB simulation tool.The proposed ABC approach has a THD level of 4.86%,which is better than the PSO and FPA methods.

In the 5^(th) generation mobile communication(5G)system,better bitrate,better power consumption,and better Bit Error Rate are needed.To meet all these requirements in 5G,the waveform is important.Although the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing(OFDM)modulation scheme has been commonly used in 4G,it is difficult to meet the requirements of 5G.A lot of candidate waveforms are discussed in the 5G system included Filter Bank Multicarrier(FBMC),Universal Filtered Multicarrier(UFMC),Filtered OFDM(F-OFDM),and Generalized Frequency Division Multiplexing(GFDM),etc.However,since GFDM is no longer widely used,in this paper,FBMC,UFMC,and F-OFDM modulation schemes are discussed and compared with OFDM.Power Spectral Density(PSD),Bit Error Rate(BER),Transmitted Signal Power,Peak Average Power Ratio(PAPR)and Bit Rate parameters of the modulation schemes are studied and compared with OFDM.FBMC demonstrates to be the most promising modulation scheme for 5G systems.

Maximum power extraction from the photovoltaic(PV) system plays a critical role in increasing efficiency duringpartial shading conditions (PSCs). It directly reduces the outputpower of the PV array. There are different factors, such as bypassdiode configuration, array size, array configuration, shade intensity, environmental conditions etc., affecting the performance ofthe solar photovoltaic panel. Furthermore, series (S), parallel (P),series-parallel (SP), total-cross-tied (TCT), bridge-linked (BL),and honey-comb (HC), etc., are the various configurations to dealwith the mentioned issues. But these PV array configurations alsohave drawbacks, such as low dispersion factor, mismatch losses,and line losses under partial shading conditions. To overcomethese issues, the reconfiguration of the PV array is one of theeffective approaches. A comprehensive study of literature showsthat PV modules are connected under different reconfiguredschemes namely Sudoku, Optimal Sudoku, Magic square, zigzag, Skyscraper, etc. In this paper, a comprehensive review isperformed to highlight the advantages and limitations of eachscheme. This study can be used to address the advancementin this area since some parameter comparisons are made at theend of every technique, which might be a prominent base-rule forpicking the most promising reconfiguration technique for furtherresearch.

Performance Investigation of Hybrid and Conventional PV Array Configurations for Grid-connected/Standalone PV Systems

Currently,the critical challenge in solar photovoltaic(PV)systems is to make them energy efficient.One of the key factors that can reduce the PV system power output is partial shading conditions(PSCs).The reduction in power output not only depends on a shaded region but also depends on the pattern of shading and physical position of shaded modules in the array.Due to PSCs,mismatch losses are induced between the shaded modules which can cause several peaks in the output power-voltage(P-V)characteristics.The series-parallel(SP),total-cross-tied(TCT),bridge-link(BL),honey-comb(HC),and triple-tied(TT)configurations are considered as conventional configurations,which are severely affected by PSCs and generate more mismatch power losses along with a greater number of local peaks.To reduce the effect of PSCs,hybrid PV array configurations,such as series-parallel:total-cross-tied(SP-TCT),bridge-link:total-cross-tied(BL-TCT),honey-comb:total-cross-tied(HC-TCT)and bridge-link:honey-comb(BL-HC)are proposed.This paper briefly discusses the modeling,simulation and performance evaluation of hybrid and conventional 7×7 PV array configurations during different PSCs in a Matlab/Simulink environment.The performance of hybrid and conventional PV configurations are evaluated and compared in terms of global maximum power(GMP),voltage and currents at GMP,open and short circuit voltage and currents,mismatch power loss(MPL),fill factor,efficiency,and a number of local maximum power peaks(LMPPs).

In this paper,a novel fractional order controller design algorithm is proposed for a class of linear systems.The proposed control algorithm is developed by employing Riemann principal sheet stability criterion.Oustaloup recursive approximation(ORA)method is used to implement the controller.The proposed controller is implemented in simulation.The results show that the proposed fractional order controller provides better results than the existing controllers in the literature work.

Leaf disease recognition using image processing and deep learning techniques is currently a vibrant research area.Most studies have focused on recognizing diseases from images of whole leaves.This approach limits the resulting models’ability to estimate leaf disease severity or identify multiple anomalies occurring on the same leaf.Recent studies have demonstrated that classifying leaf diseases based on individual lesions greatly enhances disease recognition accuracy.In those studies,however,the lesions were laboriously cropped by hand.This study proposes a semi-automatic algorithm that facilitates the fast and efficient preparation of datasets of individual lesions and leaf image pixel maps to overcome this problem.These datasets were then used to train and test lesion classifier and semantic segmentation Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)models,respectively.We report that GoogLeNet’s disease recognition accuracy improved by more than 15%when diseases were recognized from lesion images compared to when disease recognition was done using images of whole leaves.A CNN model which performs semantic segmentation of both the leaf and lesions in one pass is also proposed in this paper.The proposed KijaniNet model achieved state-of-the-art segmentation performance in terms of mean Intersection over Union(mIoU)score of 0.8448 and 0.6257 for the leaf and lesion pixel classes,respectively.In terms of mean boundary F1 score,the KijaniNet model attained 0.8241 and 0.7855 for the two pixel classes,respectively.Lastly,a fully automatic algorithm for leaf disease recognition from individual lesions is proposed.The algorithm employs the semantic segmentation network cascaded to a GoogLeNet classifier for lesion-wise disease recognition.The proposed fully automatic algorithm outperforms competing methods in terms of its superior segmentation and classification performance despite being trained on a small dataset.

Due to the inconsistency of rice variety,agricultural industry faces an important challenge of rice grading and classification by the traditional grading system.The existing grading system is manual,which introduces stress and strain to humans due to visual inspection.Automated rice grading system development has been proposed as a promising research area in computer vision.In this study,an accurate deep learning-based non-contact and cost-effective rice grading system was developed by rice appearance and characteristics.The proposed system provided real-time processing by using a NI-myRIO with a high-resolution camera and user interface.We firstly trained the network by a rice public dataset to extract rice discriminative features.Secondly,by using transfer learning,the pre-trained network was used to locate the region by extracting a feature map.The proposed deep learning model was tested using two public standard datasets and a prototype real-time scanning system.Using AlexNet architecture,we obtained an average accuracy of 98.2%with 97.6%sensitivity and 96.4%specificity.To validate the real-time performance of proposed rice grading classification system,various performance indices were calculated and compared with the existing classifier.Both simulation and real-time experiment evaluations confirmed the robustness and reliability of the proposed rice grading system.

In this research work,single-stageﬁfteen levels cascaded DC-interface converter(CDDCLC)is proposed for sun arranged photovoltaic technology(PV)applications.The proposed geography is joined with help DC chopper and H-associate inverter to upgrade the power converter to accomplish the diminished harmonic proﬁle.In assessment with the customary inverter structures,the proposed system is used with diminished voltage stress,decreased switch count and DC source tally.The proposed research work with cascaded DC link conver-ter design requires three DC sources for combiningﬁfteen-level AC output.This investigation structure switching technique is phase opposition and disposition pulse width modulation technique(POPD)which results in improved quality of obtained output AC power with 6.73%THD and also determinedly recommended for power converters used in UPS and drive applications since it is extremely affordable.A simulation and prototype model ofﬁfteen-level CDDCLC system is deployed and its performance is analyzed for various operating conditions.

Water is an essential resource for agriculture and the majority of land is irrigated through borewells or wells.The power requirement for an irrigation pump motor is fed by the on-grid power supply but the availability of electricity in rural areas is still questionable.With rising concerns about global warming and the rise in carbon footprints,it is necessary to choose clean and green energy,thereby attaining self-sustainable life.India receives yearly a mean solar irradiation of 6.5 kWh/m^(2)day.Hence,a solar photovoltaic-water-pumping system(SPV-WPS)is a suitable alternative to grid energy;thereby,the farmers would generate electricity through the solar photovoltaic system and become self-sufficient in their energy needs.In this paper,two different agricultural fields in Tamil Nadu,India that deploy flood irrigation and drip irrigation are taken as a case study.The paper discusses the concerns on the use of grid power and their carbon footprint,design and simulation of 4-and 5.5-kW SPV-WPSs using PVsyst 7.1.1,and the advantages of using SPV-WPSs and life-cycle cost analysis on different use cases.The Government of India has introduced a special scheme to promote the installation of SPV-WPSs by offering attractive incentives through PM-Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan(KUSUM)yojana.The results of the case study show that with the use of SPV-WPSs,either with or without subsidy,the farmer could gain a minimum of 250%on the investment with a project lifetime of 25 years.
