Geomorphological responses of rivers to active tectonics along the Karahay?t Fault, Weste.n.t.rkiye

Understanding the topography in active tectonic areas and assessing the rates and models of active deformation in the upper crust are primary objectives in tectonic geomorphology studies. the drainage pattern of river systems is highly sensitive to tectonically induced changes, and it often preserves the records of the formation and progression of most tectono-geomorphic processes within its boundaries. therefore, the evolution of landforms is a consequence of the evolution of individual drainage basins in which they are formed. Assessing the rates of tectonic deformation using geomorphic data is a traditionally adopted method to characterize the.n.t.re of active faults. Globally, the Digital elevation Model(DeM) is widely used as a crucial tool to analyze the morphotectonic features of drainage basins. In this study, some geomorphic indices were applied to investigate the impact of tectonism on landscape along the Karahay?t Fault and its associated drainage areas. these geomorphic indices are mountain front sinuosity(Smf values between 1.17-1.52), valley floor width-to-height ratio(Vf values between 0.25-1.46), basin asymmetry factor(AF values between 15-72), drainage basin shape(Bs values between 3.18-6.01), hypsometric integral and curve(HI values between 0.32-047), channel sinuosity(S values between 1-1.6), normalized steepness index(Ksn values between 1-390) and Chi integral(χ values between 200-4400). the development of drainage areas on the hanging wall and footwall block of the Karahayit Fault differs depending on the uplift. the drainage areas developed on the hanging wall present different patterns depending on the regional uplift caused by the fault. this reveals that the fault contributed significantly to the development of drainage areas and regional uplift in the region. Valuable Beyond Vulnerable: A Scoping Review on the Contributions of Older Forced Migrants in Post-migration Recovery

During times of crisis, including pandemics, climate change, and forced migration, much of the discourse in ageing research and intervention centers on the vulnerabilities of older adults. Unfortunately, the valuable contributions of older adults to post-disaster recovery and healing are often overlooked and undervalued. Our aim in this scoping review is to shed light on the critical contributions of older forced migrants to post-migration recovery. We set the scene by introducing the two significant global demographic changes of the twenty-first century: forced migration and ageing. We provide a discourse on older forced migrants, ageing in situations of forced migration, and some of the challenges faced by older forced migrants. We then present some of the substantial roles of older forced migrants in post-migration recovery, including building resilience, contributing to culture and language transfer, providing emotional support, offering mentorship and leadership, participating in community building, and fostering social integration. We close by highlighting some of the lessons that can be drawn from understanding the unique roles played by older adults in post-forced migration recovery and the key actions necessary to promote these roles.

Using deep neural networks coupled with principal component analysis for ore production forecasting at open-pit mines

Ore production is usually affected by multiple influencing inputs at open-pit ***,the complex nonlinear relationships betwe.n.t.ese inputs and ore production remain *** becomes even more challenging when training data(*** haulage information and weather conditions)are *** machine learning(ML)algorithms,deep neural network(Dnn)is a superior method for processing nonlinear and massive data by adjusting the amount of neurons and hidden *** study adopted Dnn to forecast ore production using truck haulage information and weather conditions at open-pit mines as training *** the prediction models were built,principal component analysis(PCA)was employed to reduce the data dimensionality and eliminate the multicollinearity among highly correlated input *** verify the superiority of Dnn,three Anns containing only one hidden layer and six traditional ML models were established as benchmark *** Dnn model with multiple hidden layers performed better than the Ann models with a single hidden *** Dnn model outperformed the extensively applied benchmark models in predicting ore *** can provide engineers and researchers with an accurate method to forecast ore production,which helps make sound budgetary decisions and mine planning at open-pit mines.

the emergence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)in 2019 prompted scientific,medical,and biotech communities to investigate infection-and vaccine-induced immune responses in the context of this pathogen.B-cell and antibody responses are at the center of these investigations,as neutralizing antibodies(nAbs)are an important correlate of protection(COP)from infection and the primary target of SARS-CoV-2 vaccine *** addition to absolute levels,nAb longevity,neutralization breadth,immunoglobulin isotype and subtype composition,and presence at mucosal sites have become important topics for scientists and health policy *** recent pandemic was and still is a unique setting in which to study de novo and memory B-cell(MBC)and antibody responses in the dynamic interplay of infection-and vaccine-induced *** also provided an opportunity to explore new vaccine platforms,such as mRnA or adenoviral vector vaccines,in unprecedented cohort *** with the technological advances of recent years,this situation has provided detailed mechanistic insights into the development of B-cell and antibody responses but also revealed some unexpected *** this review,we summarize the key findings of the last 2.5 years regarding infection-and vaccine-induced B-cell immunity,which we believe are of significant value.n.t.only in the context of SARS-CoV-2 but also for future vaccination approaches in endemic and pandemic settings.

Preparation of maximally-entangled states with multiple cat-state qutrits in circuit QeD

In recent years,cat-state encoding and high-dimensional entanglement have attracted much ***,previous works are limited to generation of entangled states of cat-state qubits(two-dimensional entanglement with cat-state encoding),while how to prepare entangled states of cat-state qutrits or qudits(high-dimensional entanglement with cat-state encoding)has not been *** here propose to generate a maximally-entangled state of multiple cat-state qutrits(three-dimensional entanglement by cat-state encoding)in circuit *** entangled state is prepared with multiple microwave cavities coupled to a superconducting flux ququart(a four-level quantum system).this proposal operates essentially by the cavity-qutrit dispersive *** circuit hardware resource is minimized because only a coupler ququart is *** higher intermediate level of the ququart is occupied only for a short time,thereby decoherence from this level is greatly suppressed during the state ***,the state preparation time does not depend on the number of the qutrits,thus it does not increase with the number of the *** an example,our numerical simulations demonstrate that,with the present circuit QeD technology,the high-fidelity preparation is feasible for a maximally-entangled state of two cat-state ***,we numerically analyze the effect of the inter-cavity crosstalk on the scalability of this *** proposal is universal and can be extended to accomplish the same task with multiple microwave or optical cavities coupled to a natural or artificial four-level atom.

Accurate Distinction of Weak and Strong AC Grids for emerging Hierarchical-Infeed LCC-UHVDC Systems

Distinction of weak and strong AC grids for emerging hierarchical-infeed LCC-UHVDC systems is important for planning and operation departments. However, accuracy of earlier distinction methods is limited as they were developed by empirical reasoning without rigorous theoretical analysis. Hence in this letter, hierarchical-infeed interactive effective short-circuit ratio (HIeSCR) index is first used for strength evaluation of HIDC systems with complex inter-inverter interactions considered. Boundary HIeSCR (BHIeSCR) is also introduced in the proposed distinction method of weak and strong AC grids. that is, weak (or strong) AC grids are, respectively, identified when HIeSCR is less (or greater) than BHIeSCR. Second, it is shown BHIeSCR remains almost unchanged as 3.0 versus various system parameters and rated operation variables based on rigorous theoretical analysis. this salient feature makes the proposed method more accurate than earlier methods. Finally, the proposed method is validated by simulations based on the PSCAD/eMtDC program.

Changes in snow cover extent in the Central taurus Mountains from 1981 to 2021 in relation to temperature, precipitation, and atmospheric teleconnections

the snow cover over the taurus Mountains affects water supply, agriculture, and hydropower generation in the region. In this study, we analyzed the monthly Snow Cover extent(SCe) from november to April in the Central taurus Mountains(Bolkar, Aladaglar, tahtali and Binboga Mountains) from 1981 to 2021. Linear trends of snow cover season(november to April) over the last 41 years showed decreases in SCe primarily at lower elevations. the downward trend in SCe was found to be more pronounced and statistically significant for only november and March. SCe in the Central taurus Mountains has declined about-6.3% per decade for 2500-3000 m in november and about-6.0% per decade for 1000-1500 m and 3000+ m in March over the last 41 years. the loss of SCe has become evident since the 2000s, and the lowest negative anomalies in SCe have been observed in 2014, 2001, and 2007 in the last 41 years, which are consistent with an increase in air temperature and decreased precipitation. SCe was correlated with both me.n.t.mperature and precipitation, with temperature having a greater relative importance at all elevated gradients. Results showed that there is a strong linear relationship between SCe and the mean air temperature(r =-0.80) and precipitation(r = 0.44) for all elevated gradients during the snow season. the Arctic Oscillation(AO), the north Atlantic Oscillation(nAO), and the Mediterranean Oscillation(MO) winter indices were used to explain the year-to-year variability in SCe over the Central taurus Mountains. the results showed that the inter-annual variability observed in the winter SCe on the Central taurus Mountains was positively correlated with the phases of the winter AO, nAO and MO, especially below 2000 m elevation.

A robust vector tracking loop structure based on potential bias analysis

this paper proposes a robust vector tracking loop structure based on potential bias analysis. the influence of four kinds of biases on the existing two implementations of Vector tracking Loops(VtLs) is illustrated by theoretical analysis and numerical simulations, and the following findings are obtained. Firstly, the initial user state bias leads to steady navigation solution bias in the relative VtL, while new measurements can eliminate it in the absolute VtL. Secondly, the initial code phase bias is transferred to the following navigation solutions in the relative VtL, while new measurements can eliminate it in the absolute VtL. thirdly, the user state bias induced by erroneous navigation solution of VtLs can be eliminated by both of the two VtLs. Fourthly,the multipath/nLOS likely affects the two VtLs, and the induced tracking bias in the duration of the multipath/nLOS would decrease the performance of VtLs. Based on the above analysis,a robust VtL structure is proposed, where the absolute VtL is selected for its robustness to the two kinds of initialization biases;meanwhile, the instant bias detection and correction method is used to improve the performance of VtLs in the duration of the multipath/nLOS. numerical simulations and experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed robust VtL structure.
