Identifying flow regime in the aquifer of fractured rock system in Germi Chai Basin,Iran

Considering the importance of fractured rock aquifers in the hydrogeologic process,this research aimed to analyze the flow regime,internal degree of karstification,and estimate storage volume in fractured rock aquifers of the Germi Chai Basin in northwest Iran,which is attributed to its active tectonics,erosion,and the lithological *** the geological setting,the hypothesis is that this basin is characterized by a high degree of karstification and diffuse or intermediate flow regime leading to variation in discharge flow *** hydrodynamic and hadrochemical analysis was conducted on 9 well distributed springs across the basin from 2019 to *** maximum flow rate in most of the springs appeared in the early wet season despite their different levels of fluctuations on the monthly discharge time *** the spring recession curve form revealed an aquifer containing multiple micro-regimes withαrecession coefficients and a degree of karstification ranging between 0.001 to 0.06 and 0.55 to 2.61,*** findings indicated a dominant diffuse and intermediate flow system resulting from the development of a high density of fractures in this *** electrical conductivity of the spring changes inversely proportional to the change in flow discharge,indicating the reasonable hydrological response of the aquifer to rainfall *** analysis revealed that the delay time of spring discharge after rainfall events mostly varies between 10 to 30 *** total dynamic storage volume of the spring for a given period(2019-2020)was estimated to be approximately 1324 million cubic meters reflecting the long-term drainage potential and high perdurability of dynamic *** the maximum and minimum ratio revealed that the springs recharging system in Germi Chai Basin comes under the slow aquifers *** finding provides valuable insight into the hydrogeological properties of fractured rock aquifers contributing to effective w

Zeno and the Wrong Understanding of Motion—A Philosophical-Mathematical Inquiry into the Concept of Finitude as a Peculiarity of Infinity

In contrast to the solutions of applied mathematics to Zeno’s paradoxes, I focus on the concept of motion and show that, by distinguishing two different forms of motion, Zeno’s apparent paradoxes are not paradoxical at all. Zeno’s paradoxes indirectly prove that distances are not composed of extensionless points and, in general, that a higher dimension cannot be completely composed of lower ones. Conversely, lower dimensions can be understood as special cases of higher dimensions. To illustrate this approach, I consider Cantor’s only apparent proof that the real numbers are uncountable. However, his widely accepted indirect proof has the disadvantage that it depends on whether there is another way to make the real numbers countable. Cantor rightly assumes that there can be no smallest number between 0 and 1, and therefore no beginning of counting. For this reason he arbitrarily lists the real numbers in order to show with his diagonal method that this list can never be complete. The situation is different if we start with the largest number between 0 and 1 (0.999…) and use the method of an inverted triangle, which can be understood as a special fractal form. Here we can construct a vertical and a horizontal stratification with which it is actually possible to construct all real numbers between 0 and 1 without exception. Each column is infinite, and each number in that column is the starting point of a new triangle, while each row is finite. Even in a simple sine curve, we experience finiteness with respect to the y-axis and infinity with respect to the x-axis. The first parts of this article show that Zeno’s assumptions contradict the concept of motion as such, so it is not surprising that this misconstruction leads to contradictions. In the last part, I discuss Cantor’s diagonal method and explain the method of an inverted triangle that is internally structured like a fractal by repeating this inverted triangle at each column. Pelleting and particle size reduction of corn increase net energy and digestibility of fiber,protein,and fat in corn-soybean meal diets fed to group-housed pigs

A UNIFORM CONVERGENT PETROV-GALERKIN METHOD FOR A CLASS OF TURNING POINT PROBLEMS

In this paper,we propose a numerical method for turning point problems in one dimension based on Petrov-Galerkin finite element method(PGFEM).We first give a priori estimate for the turning point problem with a single boundary turning *** we use PGFEM to solve it,where test functions are the solutions to piecewise approximate dual *** prove that our method has a first-order convergence rate in both L∞h norm and a discrete energy norm when we select the exact solutions to dual problems as test *** results show that our scheme is efficient for turning point problems with different types of singularities,and the convergency coincides with our theoretical results.

Scree conglomerate and its derivatives in the Upper Cretaceous Kallankurichchi Limestone,Ariyalur Group,Cauvery Basin,South India

The repetitive influx of coarse clastics of mixed composition,siliciclastics and carbonates,locally common in the lower part of the Upper Cretaceous marine Kallankurichchi Limestone specifies a resurgence of tectonic unrest in the Cauvery rift basin,*** basin-margin scree and its derivatives elicit diverse modes of emplacement and differ in many ways from denoting it only as basal *** study meticulously reveals the depositional history of these basin-margin coarse *** scree conglomerate bodies are wedge-shaped in appearance and often have flat,eroded *** places,their surfaces,tops and flanks,are encrusted with Inoceramus although internally,they are mostly *** are clast-supported and extremely poorly sorted,having interstitial spaces filled by sand-sized grains at the basal *** clasts can be traced into the underlying Sillakuddi Sandstone and the granitic *** clasts derived from the sandstone are angular and measure up to 60 cm in length,while the basement-derived clasts dominate the smaller(maximum diameter measured 5 cm)and more rounded *** elongated clasts are chaotically arranged,even oriented sub-vertically,reclining on other *** lowermost scree conglomerate has a sharp base,and the pebbles sunk into the underlying sandstone,although no discernible impact laminae wrapping their bottom were ever ***,the scree fans were initiated under the sea,which permitted the slow sinking of assorted rock fragments dropped from *** sporadic occurrence of marine fossils further corroborates this *** scree conglomerates at different stratigraphic levels transitioned laterally into conglomerates of mass flow origin and then to massive calcarenite,together forming wedge-shaped *** initial alignment of clasts parallel to bedding transforms to a chaotic alignment representing the transition from internally sheared flow to debris flow and associated ***

Tocotrienol isoforms:The molecular mechanisms underlying their effects in cancer therapy and their implementation in clinical trials

Tocotrienols are found in a variety of natural sources,like rice bran,annatto seeds and palm oil,and have been shown to have several health-promoting properties,particularly against chronic diseases such as *** incidence of cancer is rapidly increasing around the world,not only a result of continued aging and population growth,but also due to the adoption of aspects of the Western lifestyle,such as high-fat diets and low-physical *** literature provides strong evidence that tocotrienols are able to inhibit the growth of various cancers,including breast,lung,ovarian,prostate,liver,brain,colon,myeloma and pancreatic *** findings,along with the reported safety profile of tocotrienols in healthy human volunteers,encourage further research into these compounds’potential use in cancer prevention and *** current review provided detailed information about the molecular mechanisms of action of different tocotrienol isoforms in various cancer models and evaluated the potential therapeutic effects of different vitamin E analogues on important cancer hallmarks,such as cellular proliferation,apoptosis,angiogenesis and ***/PubMed and Scopus databases were used to identify recently published articles that investigated the anticancer effects of vitamin E derivatives in various types of cancer in vitro and in vivo along with clinical evidence of adjuvant chemopreventive *** an overview of pre-clinical studies,we describe several completed and ongoing clinical trials that are paving the way for the successful implementation of tocotrienols in cancer chemotherapy.
