Changes in the activities of Δ 5\|3β\|hydroysteroid dehydrogenase(HSD) in testis and adrenal gland, 17β\|hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase in testis, acid and alkaline phosphatase in testis, prostate and seminal vesicle were observed in noise exposed mature rats at the intensity of 85 dB for 8 h/day for 45 days. The results indicated that noise exposed group showed a significant diminution in the activities of androgenic key enzymes Δ 5\|3β and 17β\|HSD, acid phosphatase in testis, prostate and seminal vesicle. There was a significant elevation in the activities of adrenal Δ 5\|3β\|HSD, alkaline phosphatase in testis and other accessory sex organ in noise exposed group. Gonadosomatic, prostatosomatic and seminal vesiculo\|somatic indexes were decreased significantly in noise exposed group. Therefore, it is evident that noise exposure at 85dB exerts a deleterious effect on testicular and adrenocortical activities.

Changes in soil properties and microbial communities regulated rhizosphere protistan assemblages. • Bacterial community was more sensitive to soil amendments than protists and fungi. • Soil amendments trigger the role of specific protistan taxa Cercozoa on microbial interactions. Understanding the responses of different rhizosphere microbial lineages to soil amendments during in situ remediation of Cd-contaminated soil is of great importance in the assessment of the restoration and crop health. Here, we evaluated the effects of lime (LM), biochar (BC), pig manure (PM), and a commercial Mg-Ca-Si conditioner (CMC) on the rice rhizosphere soil physicochemical properties and community assembly of bacteria, fungi, and protists in a six-year consecutive application of soil amendments field trial. Our results indicated that among the four amendments, the BC and CMC had the best efficiency in increasing soil pH, which were 5.2% and 16.2%, respectively. Despite the differences in soil Cd concentrations is not noticeable, all the soil amendment treatments significantly decreased the proportion of available Cd in total Cd compared to the control. Soil amendments significantly altered the diversity of bacterial community, while they had no effect on fungal and protistan communities. Linear discriminant analysis effect size (LEfSe) showed that the bacteria was more sensitive to soil amendment-induced changes. For protists, treatments with LM and BC changed the groups of protistan consumers, while treatments with PM and CMC significantly increased the relative abundances of protistan phototrophs. Co-occurrence network analysis revealed that soil amendments increased microbial network complexity and triggered the role of protists, especially for the predatory protists Cercozoa, on microbial trophic interactions. Introduction: COVID-19 was an emerging disease putting all public health systems in countries around the world in a state of emergency. To be able to prevent its spread and morbidity and mortality, several appropriate strategies were necessary, such as vaccination. The latter has been the subject of controversy. The objective of the present study is therefore to evaluate the factors associated with the acceptance of this vaccine within the population of the Kasenga State health Area. A result which will shed light on future strategies to be put in place for possible new vaccines. Methodology: Is a prospective and analytical cross-sectional study conducted over a period of approximately 1 month from January 5 to February 5, 2024. A survey questionnaire in Kobotoolbox was useful for collecting data. STATA software was very important for us in analyzing the data collected. Results: Prevalence of vaccination against COVID-19 among the population of the Kasenga State health Area is 37.5% (28.4 - 45.6). The study revealed that reluctance is observed among most of the population for different reasons, including, first and foremost, the deliberate aspect of not wanting to take the vaccine (46.6%) and rumors that this antigen is dangerous and harmful (32.9%). 72.5% of respondents believe that the COVID-19 vaccine is a fabrication, unhealthy and that the disease itself never existed. The study proved that there was a statistical relationship between age (p = 0.001) and adherence to vaccination. And the refusal of respondents to recommend the vaccine to loved ones was a factor associated with non-adherence to vaccination (OR = 7.901, 95% IC [3.028 - 20.615], p = 0.000). Conclusion: Vaccination against COVID-19 was not well accepted by the population of the study site. Raising public awareness and involving community leaders and political-administrative authorities, which has not been done well, would play an important role in the good perception of the disease, of the vaccine

Numerically generating synthetic surface topography that closely resembles the features and characteristics of experimental surface topography measurements reduces the need to perform these intricate and costly ***,existing algorithms to numerically generated surface topography are not well-suited to create the specific characteristics and geometric features of as-built surfaces that result from laser powder bed fusion(LPBF),such as partially melted metal particles,porosity,laser scan lines,and ***,we present a method to generate synthetic as-built LPBF surface topography maps using a progressively growing generative adversarial *** qualitatively and quantitatively demonstrate good agreement between synthetic and experimental as-built LPBF surface topography maps using areal and deterministic surface topography parameters,radially averaged power spectral density,and material ratio *** ability to accurately generate synthetic as-built LPBF surface topography maps reduces the experimental burden of performing a large number of surface topography ***,it facilitates combining experimental measurements with synthetic surface topography maps to create large data-sets that facilitate,*** as-built surface topography to LPBF process parameters,or implementing digital surface twins to monitor complex end-use LPBF parts,amongst other applications.

目的随着老龄化社会进程加速,老年人躯体衰弱和肌少症的患病率逐年上升,并带来诸多不良影响。膳食营养是防治躯体衰弱和肌少症的重要方式,但在社区环境中实施膳食营养干预受到诸多复杂因素影响。本综述旨在对相关研究中的促进和障碍因素进行系统综述,为制订相关健康管理方案提供参考。方法在Pub Med. .Web of Science 、Medline(Ovid). Embase(Ovid)和Cochrane Library 数据库进行检索,发表时间限定为建库至2023年1月。使用主题词和自由词组合完成检索。使用英国牛津大学循证医学中心质性研究质量评价工具(the Critical Appraisal Skills Program Qualiative Sudies Checklist)对纳入研究进行质量评价。利用社会生态建模框架对提取的信息进行编码和分析。本综述方案已在PROSPERO注册(CRD42022381339)。结果共纳入10项研究。其中,4项研究仅进行营养相关干预,而膳食营养和运动干预相结合的有6项。根据社会生态模型,从个体特征、外部环境和干预措施3个层面对促进和障碍因素进行了总结,包含10个副主题。结论对社区中的躯体衰弱和肌少症老年人实施膳食营养干预措施时,应整合个人内部动机和外部支持,为参与者制订“量身定制”的干预方案,并最大程度地优化可利用的人力和物理资源。

Geospatial Variability of Cholera Cases in Malawi Based on Climatic and Socioeconomic Influences

Cholera remains a public health threat in most developing countries in Asia and Africa including Malawi with seasonal recurrent outbreaks. Malawi’s recent Cholera outbreak in 2022 and 2023, exhibited higher morbidity and mortality rates than the past two decades. Lack of spatiotemporal-based technology and variability assessment tools in Malawi’s Cholera monitoring and management, limit our understanding of the disease’s epidemiology. The present work developed a spatiotemporal variability model for Cholera disease at district level and its relationship to socioeconomic and climatic factors based on cumulative confirmed Cholera cases in Malawi from March 2022 to July 2023 using Z-score statistic and multiscale geographically weighted regression (MGWR) in a Geographical Information System (GIS). We found out that socioeconomic factors such as access to safe drinking water, population density and poverty level, and climatic factors including temperature and rainfall strongly influenced Cholera prevalence in a complex and multifaceted manner. The model shows that Lilongwe, Mangochi, Blantyre and Balaka districts were highly vulnerable to Cholera disease followed by lakeshore districts of Salima, Nkhotakota, Nkhata-Bay and Karonga than other districts. We recommend strategic measures such as Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) interventions, community awareness on proper water storage, Cholera case management, vaccination campaigns and spatial-based surveillance systems in the most affected districts. This research has shown that MGWR, as a surveillance system, has the potential of providing insights on the disease’s spatial patterns for public health authorities to identify high-risk districts and implement early response interventions to reduce the spread of the disease.

Association of post-traumatic stress disorder and work performance: A survey from an emergency medical service, Karachi, Pakistan

BACKGROUND: The purpose of the study was to explore the association between posttraumatic stress disorder(PTSD) and work performance of emergency medical services personnel in Karachi, ***: Emergency medical service personnel were screened for potential PTSD using Impact of Event Scale-Revised(IES-R). Work performance was assessed on the basis of fi ve variables: number of late arrivals to work, number of days absent, number of days sick, adherence to protocol, and patient satisfaction over a period of 3 months. In order to model outcomes like the number of late arrivals to work, days absent and days late, negative binomial regression was applied, whereas logistic regression was applied for adherence to protocol and linear for patient satisfaction ***: Mean scores of PTSD were 24.0±12.2. No association was found between PTSD and work performance measures: number of late arrivals to work(RRadj 0.99; 0.98–1.00), days absent(RRadj 0.98; 0.96–0.99), days sick(RRadj 0.99; 0.98–1.00), adherence to protocol(ORadj 1.01; 0.99–1.04) and patient satisfaction(β 0.001%–0.03%) after adjusting for years of formal schooling, living status, coping mechanism, social support, working hours, years of experience and anxiety or ***: No statistically significant association was found between PTSD and work performance amongst EMS personnel in Karachi, Pakistan.
