Integrated photon-pair sources based on spontaneous parametric down conversion(SPDC)in novel high-χ^((2))materials are used in quantum photonic systems for quantum information processing,quantum metrology,and quantum ***,the need for extensive fabrication process development and optimization of dry-etching processes significantly impedes the rapid exploration of different material platforms for low-loss quantum photonic ***,bound states in the continuum(BICs)have emerged as a promising approach for realizing ultralow-loss integrated photonic circuits without requiring an etching *** realizations of BIC photonic circuits have,however,been limited primarily to the classical ***,we explore the BIC phenomena in the quantum regime and show that the etchless BIC platform is suitable for use in integrated entangled photon-pair sources based on the SPDC process in high-χ^((2))*** lithium niobate as an example,we demonstrate photon-pair generation at telecommunication wavelengths,attaining a maximum internal generation rate of 3.46 MHz,a coincidence-to-accidental ratio of 5773,and an experimental two‐photon interference visibility of 94%.Our results demonstrate that the BIC platform can be used for quantum photonic circuits,and this will enable the rapid exploration of different emergingχ^((2))materials for possible use in integrated quantum photonics in the future.

A Joint Activity and Data Detection Scheme for Asynchronous Grant-Free Rateless Multiple Access

A Generalized Array Factor for Time-Modulated Hexagonal Based Antenna Array Geometry With Novel Trapezoidal Switching

The concept of the time-modulated array has been emerging as an alternative to the complex phase shifters,which lowers the cost of the array feeding network due to the utilization of radio frequency(RF)*** various forms of hexagonal antenna array geometries can be used for applications like surveillance tracking in phased array radar and wireless communication *** work proposes the generalized array factor(AF)for the hexagonal antenna array geometry based on time *** time modulation in generalized hexagonal geometry can maintain the fixed static amplitude excitation,giving more flexibility over ***,a novel trapezoidal switching function is also proposed and applied to the generalized array factor to enable future researchers to use this array factor in the field of advancement to observe how switching schemes like trapezoidal and rectangular affect the array pattern's side lobe level(SLL).The generalized equation can be utilized for the analysis and synthesis of radiation characteristics of the time-modulated hexagonal array(TMHA),time-modulated concentric hexagonal array(TMCHA),time-modulated hexagonal cylindrical array(TMHCA),and time-modulated hexagonal concentric cylindrical array(TMHCCA).The numerical result illustrates the generation of AF of time-modulated hexagonal structures and also shows that the trapezoidal switching sequence outperforms the rectangular switch using the cat swarm optimization(CSO)approach.

Physical Layer Encryption of OFDM-PON Based on Quantum Noise Stream Cipher with Polar Code

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing passive optical network(OFDM-PON) has superior anti-dispersion property to operate in the C-band of fiber for increased optical power budget. However,the downlink broadcast exposes the physical layer vulnerable to the threat of illegal eavesdropping. Quantum noise stream cipher(QNSC) is a classic physical layer encryption method and well compatible with the OFDM-PON. Meanwhile, it is indispensable to exploit forward error correction(FEC) to control errors in data transmission. However, when QNSC and FEC are jointly coded, the redundant information becomes heavier and thus the code rate of the transmitted signal will be largely reduced. In this work, we propose a physical layer encryption scheme based on polar-code-assisted QNSC. In order to improve the code rate and security of the transmitted signal, we exploit chaotic sequences to yield the redundant bits and utilize the redundant information of the polar code to generate the higher-order encrypted signal in the QNSC scheme with the operation of the *** experimentally demonstrate the encrypted 16/64-QAM, 16/256-QAM, 16/1024-QAM, 16/4096-QAM QNSC signals transmitted over 30-km standard single mode fiber. For the transmitted 16/4096-QAM QNSC signal, compared with the conventional QNSC method, the proposed method increases the code rate from 0.1 to 0.32 with enhanced security.

Blindness-free beam scanning antenna with array of array architecture: principle,design,and experiment

This paper presents a 66–76-GHz sparsely-excited phased array antenna with the array of array(Ao A) architecture for eliminating the blindness and suppressing the grating lobe when scanning. For the array antennas printed on the thick dielectric layers with high relative permittivity, scanning blindness appears and seriously impacts the radiation performance. To address this issue, the Ao A topology is developed first. It finds that the scanning blindness appears due to the coupling of the radiating Floquet modes to the non-radiating surface wave(SW) modes. Therefore, the array is divided into two types of domino *** inner-phase distributions are introduced into the domino subarrays to break the one-to-one relationship between the Floquet mode and the SW mode. Then, the blindness inside ±60° scanning volume is eliminated by the aperiodic subarrays. Meanwhile, the aperiodic inner-phase distributions enhance the aperiodicity of the array and contribute to suppressing the grating lobe when scanning. Next, the meta-surface-based dipole with the shorted post is chosen as the unit cell for the proposed aperiodic array. Based on these methods,the array achieves the wide-scanning performance of ±60° in the E-plane and ±30° in the H-plane, without the blindness and the grating lobe. Finally, the 16×16 array is built and simulated with the dimension of32 mm × 32 mm. At the highest operating frequency, the simulated gains are 28.42, 25.17, and 24.01 d Bi when scanning to the broadside, 50° in the E-plane, and 30° in the H-plane, respectively. Compared to the ideal gain, it shows that the simulated radiation efficiency is about 84.13%, 62.08%, and 35.23% when scanning to the broadside, 50° in the E-plane, and 30° in the H-plane, respectively. All-day perception for intelligent vehicles: switching perception algorithms based on WBCNet

A weather-and brightness-based classification network(WBCNet) is proposed for driving scene classification to address the decreased accuracy in perception caused by weather and environment *** facilitate its applicability in vehicles and minimize computational demands on vehicle chips, WBCNet has been designed with special modules, including attention mechanisms and dilated convolutions. Dilated convolutions combined with residual connections empower WBCNet to concurrently handle information at various scales. This aids in simplifying the training and optimization of deep networks, consequently enhancing the model's performance and mitigating the risk of overfitting. The outstanding feature association capability originating from the fusion of channel attention and spatial attention enables WBCNet to focus more on the sky, lanes, and other traffic information features within the image. This design enables WBCNet to use only images as input, making it highly suitable for engineering applications. The output of WBCNet provides the basis for the downstream perception model selection algorithm, allowing it to choose the appropriate perception model for different scenes accurately. A dataset with complex scenes based on Carla is constructed for comparison to verify WBCNet's performance. Finally, a real-world driving dataset is used to validate the effectiveness and real-time performance of WBCNet.
