Electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) techniques are important tools for the storage of the quantum states of light fields in atomic ensembles and for enhancement of the interaction between photons. In this paper, we briefly summarize the recent experimental studies conducted by our group on enhanced cross-phase modulation based on double EIT effects, the quantum interference of stored dual-channel spin-wave excitations and the coherent manipulation of the spin wave vector for the polarization of photons in a single tripod atomic system. The work presented here has potential application in the developing field of quantum information processing.

Two-dimensional(2 D) materials have attracted intense attention in photonics and optoelectronics for their excellent nonlinear characteristics and are applied for the generation of laser pulses. Here, an active–passive Nd:GdVO_4 1.3 μm laser is realized by using an acousto-optic modulator and gold nanobipyramids *** pulse width of 150.5 ns is obtained in the doubly Q-switched laser. The compression ratio and enhancement time are 82.6% and 16. The doubly Q-switched technology compresses the pulse width, improves the peak power,and stabilizes the pulse, illustrating that double modulation technology opens the door of controllable ultrafast lasers based on 2 D materials.

Photon quantum statistics of light can be shown by the high-order coherence. The fourth-order coherences of various quantum states including Fock states, coherent states, thermal states and squeezed vacuum states are investigated based on a double Hanbury Brown Twiss （HBT） scheme. The analytical results are obtained by taking the overall efficiency and background into account.

We present an experimental study on tilt-tip（TT） and phase-locking（PL） control in a coherent beam combination（CBC） system of adaptive fiber laser *** TT control is performed using the adaptive fiber-optics collimator（AFOC）,and the PL control is realized by the phase modulator（PM）.Cascaded and simultaneous controls of TT and PL using stochastic parallel gradient descent（SPGD） algorithm are investigated in this ***-fiber-laser-,four-fiber-laser-,and six-fiber-laser-arrays are employed to study the TT and PL *** the cascaded control system,only one high-speed CMOS camera is used to collect beam data and a computer is used as the *** a simultaneous control system one high-speed CMOS camera and one photonic detector（PD） are employed,and a computer and a control circuit based on field programmable gate array（FPGA） are used as the *** results reveal that both cascaded and simultaneous controls of TT using AFOC and PL using PM in fiber laser array are feasible and *** control is more effective in static control situation and simultaneous control can be applied to the dynamic control system *** control signals of simultaneous PL and TT disturb each other obviously and TT and PL control may compete with each other,so the control effect is limited.

We theoretically propose blue-detuned optical trapping for neutral atoms via strong near-field interfacing in a plasmonic nanohole array. The optical field at resonance forms a nanoscale-trap potential with an FWHM of 200 nm and about ～370 nm away from the nanohole; thus, a stable 3 D atom trapping independent of the surface potential is demonstrated. The effective trap depth is more than 1 m K when the optical power of trapping light is only about 0.5 m W, while the atom scattering rate is merely about 3.31 s^(-1), and the trap lifetime is about 800 *** compact plasmonic structure provides high uniformity of trap depths and a two-layer array of atom nanotraps, which should have important applications in the manipulation of cold atoms and collective resonance fluorescence.

The squeezed state was experimentally produced in the four wave mixing process for the first time thirty years ago [1]. Its intrinsic nonclassical property has always attracted the attention of the scientists, and it has also presented an unpredictable application potential in quantum information pro- cessing [2-6] and quantum metrology [7-9]. For gaining an insight into the quantum state, Bertrand et al. [10] intro- duced the concept of quantum tomography into quantum mechanics in 1987. And in 1997, Breitenbach et al. [11] pre- sented the noise distribution of the squeezed states of light fields and reconstructed the quantum states by balanced homodyne detection （BHD）. If the squeezed state light field has a relatively strong amplitude, BHD is not suitable. Consequently, other approaches have also been studied, such as self-tomography of the twin-beam state [12] and selftomography of the single-mode squeezed light field with an empty cavity [ 13]. These approaches enable people to understand the nature of the quantum state.

A spatial light modulator （SLM） based on surface plasmon polaritons （SPPs） that can generate chromatic pattern is demonstrated. The device is composed of a waveguide with a thin silver film and an active material. The simulated results show that the SLM can modulate the intensity of three different wavelengths at the same time and combine a colour picture in the image surface. The SLM also owns the characteristics of high sensitivity, high contrast, fast time response etc. This means that the SLM is promising in the chromatic display.

The far-field superlens based on surface plasmon polaritons （SPP） has shown great application potential, but it is difficult and time-consuming to reconstruct the far-field image. We derive a near-field optical transfer function （NOTF） of a silver slab and analyse its validity so that accurate information of nano-seale object in the near-field can be computed rapidly. The NOTF is helpful not only for analysing the super-resolution imaging process in far-field, but also for providing a track to describe the transmission of optical information from near-field to far-field by using the optical transfer functions theorv only.
