Development and validation of the NCC‐BC‐A scale to assess patient‐reported outcomes for breast cancer patients in China

Prevalence and intensity of urinary schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminths among women of reproductive age in Mwaluphamba,Kwale

Objective:To assess the epidemiology of urinary schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminthiasis among women of reproductive age in Mwaluphamba,Kwale County,***:A community-based cross-sectional study design was employed to randomly sample 422 women of reproductive age(15-<50 years)from four villages in Mwaluphamba *** specimens were collected and examined using the Kato-Katz method,while filtration technique was used to analyze urine ***’sociodemographic details were obtained using a standardized ***:Urinary schistosomiasis prevalence was at 4.7%(20/422,95%CI 2.8%-6.9%)while the prevalence of soil-transmitted helminthiasis infection was 4.5%(19/422,95%CI 2.6%-6.7%).The infection intensities of urinary schistosomiasis among the study participants ranged from 1 to 120 eggs/10 mL of urine with median egg count of 18.45 eggs/10 *** patients were diagnosed with light infection,of 56.16 egg/gram and 48.48 egg/gram for Trichuris trichiura and hookworms,*** without latrines had 15.7 times higher risk of having urinary schistosomiasis compared to those with a ***,use of surface water(aOR=1.0,95%CI 0.2-1.4,P=0.010)and crossing the river to go to a place(aOR=1.1,95%CI 0.3-1.6,P=0.009)were statistically significant risk factors for getting urinary *** bivariable regression analysis,defecating around the water source(OR=4.3,95%CI 1.5-12.9)had a statistically significant association with the prevalence of soil-transmitted helminthiasis(P=0.008).Conclusions:This study has given an insight on the prevalence and intensity of urinary schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminthiasis in Mwaluphamba location that form a basis for strengthening the control and elimination programmes for these neglected tropical diseases.

Although there has been significant advancement in the identification and management of colorectal cancer(CRC)in recent years,there is still room for improvement in the current standard treatment *** area of concern is the lack of reliable tumor markers to predict treatment efficacy and guide tailored *** to its dynamic,effective,and non-invasive benefits over tissue biopsy,the detection of minimal or molecular residual lesions(MRD)based on circulating tumor DNA(ctDNA)is beneficial to the clinical development of drugs for patients with CRC after radical treatment,as well as for continuous monitoring of tumor recurrence and malignancy molecular gene *** detection of ctDNA can currently be used to guide individual postoperative auxiliary treatment decisions(upgrade or downgrade treatment)in CRC,stratify the risk of clinical recurrence more precisely,and predict the risk of recurrence in advance of imaging examination,according to a large number of observational or prospective clinical *** increasing clarity comes the possibility of selecting a regimen of treatment based on postoperative ctDNA,which also improves the accuracy of clinical recurrence risk assessment for ***,it is anticipated that the identification of ctDNA would alter the current framework for dealing with CRC and lead to individualized,stratified precision therapy;however,additional confirmation will require subsequent high-quality,prospective,large-scale randomized controlled *** article will provide an overview of the definition and clinical significance of MRD,the primary indications and technological challenges for MRD detection,along with the advancement in clinical research about ctDNA detection following radical resection of the CRC.

Physically active primary care physicians consult more on physical activity and exercise for patients: A public teaching-hospital study

Physical activity and exercise(PAE)improve quality of life and reduce the effects of chronic *** care physicians(PCPs)play an important role to encourage PAE in *** aim to assess PCPs'current PAE consultation practices and their enablers/barriers in daily clinical *** had 64 PCPs(age[35.3±4.7]y,47 women)that completed self-administered questionnaires on PAE consultation practices,training,and confidence ***(n=42)also completed the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form to assess their physical activity(PA)*** conducted correlation,one-way analysis of variance and a linear regression to assess the associations between enablers,barriers and PA levels to PAE consultation *** average,PCPs consulted on PAE in 49.7%of their daily clinical *** of PCPs(70%)strongly agreed that more PAE knowledge were needed to increase consultation *** three barriers related(phealth-enhancing PA levels,n=6)gave significantly more daily consultations in PAE,73.2%±21.9%,compared to inactive PCPs(n=13),37.4%22.8%(p=0.013).In our regression output,PCPs who had higher PA levels consulted more on PAE daily(R^(2)=0.38,p<0.001)while controlling for ***,PCPs require more knowledge on PAE and need be physically active themselves to increase PAE consultation for patients in their daily *** education should consider including more PA and exercise topics that may benefit both physicians and their patients.
