Objective This study assesses the impact of smoke-free legislation on the incidence rate for acute myocardial infarction(AMI)and stroke in *** Data on ischemic(n=72,945)and hemorrhagic(n=18,659)stroke and AMI(n=17,431)incidence covering about 12 million people in Shenzhen from 2012 to 2016 were *** and gradual changes in incidence rates were analyzed using segmented Poisson *** Following the smoke-free legislation,a 9%(95%CI:3%-15%)immediate reduction was observed in AMI incidence,especially in men(8%,95%CI:1%-14%)and in those aged 65 years and older(17%,95%CI:9%-25%).The gradual annual benefits were observed only in hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke incidence,with a 7%(95%CI:2%-11%)and 6%(95%CI:4%-8%)decrease per year,*** health effect extended gradually to the 50-64 age *** addition,neither the immediate nor gradual decrease in stroke and AMI incidence rates did not show statistical significance among the 35-49 age group(P>0.05).Conclusion Smoke-free legislation was enforced well in Shenzhen,which would generate good experiences for other cities to enact and enforce smoke-free *** study also provided more evidence of the health benefits of smoke-free laws on stroke and AMI.

Liver transplantation represents a fundamental therapeutic solution to end-stage liver disease. The need for liver allografts has extended the set of criteria for organ acceptability, increasing the risk of adverse outcomes. Little is known about the early postoperative parameters that can be used as valid predictive indices for early graft function, retransplantation or surgical reintervention, secondary complications, long intensive care unit stay or death. In this review, we present state-of-the-art knowledge regarding the early post-transplantation tests and scores that can be applied during the first postoperative week to predict liver allograft function and patient outcome, thereby guiding the therapeutic and surgical decisions of the medical staff. Post-transplant clinical and biochemical assessment of patients through laboratory tests (platelet count, transaminase and bilirubin levels, INR, factor V, lactates, and Insulin Growth Factor 1) and scores (model for end-stage liver disease, acute physiology and chronic health evaluation, sequential organ failure assessment and model of early allograft function) have been reported to have good performance, but they only allow late evaluation of patient status and graft function, requiring days to be quantified. The indocyanine green plasma disappearance rate has long been used as a liver function assessment technique and has produced interesting, although not univocal, results when performed between the 1th and the 5th day after transplantation. The liver maximal function capacity test is a promising method of metabolic liver activity assessment, but its use is limited by economic cost and extrahepatic factors. To date, a consensual definition of early allograft dysfunction and the integration and validation of the above-mentioned techniques, through the development of numerically consistent multicentric prospective randomised trials, are necessary. Background and Aims:The impact of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)on the treatment outcome of chronic hepatitis B(CHB)is undefined and deserves an in-depth ***:Histologically-proven CHB receiving first-line antiviral regimens as initial therapy was enrolled and grouped by the concurrence of NAFLD,and followed up at six monthly *** response related data were recorded and compared at multiple time ***-Meier and Cox regression analyses were utilized to estimate the impact of NAFLD on complete virological response(CVR).Results:We enrolled 267 patients(CHB:164;CHB with NAFLD:103)with comparable follow-up *** were also comparable in baseline HBV DNA levels and HBeAg *** with concomitant NAFLD showed less significant decline in HBV DNA,qHBsAg,pgRNA,and liver enzyme levels over time;moreover,their cumulative incidences of CVR were significantly lower and that of low-level viremia(LLV)were significantly higher at 6,12,18,24 *** CVR of CHB was delayed with the presence NAFLD(11.0 vs.7.0 months,p<0.001)and further prolonged with higher grade of liver steatosis(Grade 2–3 vs.1:13.0 vs.9.0 months).On multivariate analysis,HBeAg positivity(HR:0.650,p=0.036),grade of steatosis(G2[HR:0.447,p=0.004];G3[HR:0.085,p=0.002])and HBV DNA(log10 IU/mL)(HR:0.687,p<0.001)were significantly associated with delayed CVR,whereas grade of necroinflammation(HR:1.758,p<0.001)accelerated the ***:In CHB patients receiving initial antiviral therapy,NAFLD was associated with higher levels of HBV DNA,pgRNA,and liver enzymes,and higher incidence of LLV and delayed CVR.

BACKGROUND Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) is a Gram-negative bacterium found in the upper digestive tract. Although H. pylori infection is an identified risk factor for gastric cancer, its role in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC) remains a topic of much *** To evaluate the association between H. pylori infection and the risk of precancerous lesions of ESCC, and further explore the association between dietary factors and the risk of H. pylori *** Two hundred patients with esophageal precancerous lesions(EPL) aged 63.01 ± 6.08 years and 200 healthy controls aged 62.85 ± 6.03 years were included in this case-control study. Epidemiological data and qualitative food frequency data were investigated. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay measuring serum immunoglobulin G antibodies was used to determine H. pylori seropositivity. An unconditional logistic regression model was used to assess the association between H. pylori infection and EPL risk dichotomized by gender, age, and the use of tobacco and alcohol, as well as the association between dietary factors and the risk of H. pylori *** A total of 47(23.5%) EPL cases and 58(29.0%) healthy controls had positive H. pylori infection. An inverse relation between H. pylori infection and the risk of EPL was found in the group of drinkers after adjustment for covariates [odds ratio(OR) = 0.32, 95% confidence interval(95%CI): 0.11-0.95]. Additionally, peanut intake was significantly associated with a decreased risk of H. pylori infection(OR = 0.39, 95%CI: 0.20-0.74).CONCLUSION Our study suggested that H. pylori infection may decrease the risk of EPL for drinkers in a rural adult Chinese population, and the consumption of peanut may reduce the risk of H. pylori infection. These findings should be framed as preliminary evidence, and further studies are required to address whether the mechanisms are related to the localization of lesions and alcohol consumption.

The International Diabetes Federation's most recent data indicates that the prevalence of diabetes worldwide is projected to rise to 12.2%by 2025,with783 million people affected^([1]).The prevalence of diabetes in China has risen from 9.3%in 2011 to13.04%in 2021^([1]).A cross-sectional study in China showed that the prevalence of diabetes among Tibetans was 6.5%and it was 6.3%among the Hui people in 2018,while the incidence of diabetes in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region was as high as 19.9%,ranking first in the country^([2]).The Mongolian population has a diet structured around meat and milk,supplemented by pasta,rice and vegetables,and foods such as homemade yogurt and bacon are often *** a unique diet may have contributed to a high incidence of diabetes among the Mongolian people.
