The redox active ionic liquid, 1-ethyl-4-(methoxycarbonyl)pyridinium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)amide(RIL), was synthesized from its iodide form by an anion exchange reaction of Li(NTf_2) with viscos liquid(η= 122 cP at 25C) and characterized by NMR, IR, and elemental analysis. The compound showed reversible redox couples at -0.65 V and -1.48 V vs. Ag/AgCl and worked as an electron mediator in the B_(12) complex/[Ru(bpy)_3]Cl_2 photosensitizer catalytic system under visible light irradiation. The catalytic efficiency in the RIL was higher than those in DMF, MeOH, and the redox inactive ionic liquid, 1-butyl-3-methyl imidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)amide.

2,4,6,8,10,12-Hexanitro-2,4,6,8,10,12-hexaazaisowurtzitane(HNIW), commonly called as CL-20, is a high energy and high density material of keen interest to both commercial and scientific worlds due to its greater insensitivity(reduced sensitivity) along with a positive high heat of formation, which is due to the azanitro groups attached to the skeleton of HNIW and its highly strained cage structure. It plays a remarkable role in modification and replacement of most of the propellant(gun and rocket) preparations. In this report we present the comparative strategies involved in the syntheses of HNIW with respect to economical and environmental aspects. Various methods reported in the literature on the purification of the crude HNIW(α-HNIW) to obtain ε-form of HNIW(high dense/more potential) are consolidated. Understanding of the structure, morphology, energetics, thermal behavior and their modification to meet the applicability(decreased impact sensitivity) determines the industrial application of HNIW. A compilation of the available literature on the aforementioned characteristic properties for obtaining a value added ε-HNIW is discussed here. This overview also reports the literature available on newer forms of HNIW including derivatives and cocrystals,which increase the performance of HNIW.

The heteroleptic (8-quinolinolato)bis(2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methyl-phenoxo) samarium complex was synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectrum and X-ray diffraction analysis. The complex is a five-coordinate dimer. Each 8-quinolinolato oxygen atom links two samarium atoms as a bridge and the Sm-N bond is a typical donor bond.

Designing bifunctional oxygen electrocatalysts with high activity,lasting stability,and low-cost for rechargeable zinc-air batteries(RZABs)is a tough ***,an advanced electrocatalyst is prepared by anchoring atomically dispersed Co atoms on Ndoped graphene-like hierarchically porous carbon nanosheets(SA-Co-N4-GCs)and thereby forming Co-N4-C *** unique structure with excellent conductivity,large surface area,and three dimensional(3D)interconnected hierarchically porous architecture exposes not only more Co-N4 active sites to accelerate the kinetics of both oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER),but also provides an efficient charge/mass transport environment to reduce diffusion ***,SA-Co-N4-GCs exhibits excellent ORR/OER bifunctional activities and durability,surpassing noble-metal *** RZABs using SA-Co-N4-GCs cathodes display a high open-circuit voltage of 1.51 V,a remarkable power density of 149.3 mW·cm−2,as well as excellent stability and rechargeability with faint increase in polarization even at a large depth of charge–discharge cycle with 16 h per cycle over an entire 600 h long-term ***,flexible quasi-solid-state RZABs with SA-Co-N4-GCs cathodes also deliver a considerable power density of 124.5 mW·cm−2,which is even higher than that of liquid batteries using noble-metal *** work has thrown new insight into development of high-performance and low-cost electrocatalysts for energy conversion and storage.

The adsorption and desorption behaviors of Pd（Ⅱ） on D201 resin were investigated. The effects of parameters including HCl concentrations, initial metal ion concentrations, contact time, and temperature on the adsorption of Pd（Ⅱ） were studied by batch method. The HCl concentration for studying the effects was set from 0.01 to 2 mol·L-1 and the optimal adsorption condition is in 0.01 mol·L-1 HCl solution. The adsorption isotherm of Pd（Ⅱ） on D201 resin was determined and the equilibrium data fitted the Langmuir model better than the Freundlich model. The maximum uptake capacity of Pd（Ⅱ） was 253 mg·g-1 at 298 K. The adsorption could be best described by the liquid film diffusion model. The enthalpy variation （ΔH） and entropy change （ΔS） of adsorption were equal to 2.49 kJ·mol-1 and 74.8 J·（mol·K）-1 respectively, indicating that the adsorption was endothermic in nature. Furthermore, the negative value of ΔG showed that movement of adsorbate from the solution to adsorbent surface was a spontaneous process. Pd（Ⅱ） could be eluted with 0.5 mol·L-1 HNO 3 solution. Thomas model was applied to experimental column data to determine the characteristic parameters of the column useful for process design.

Six novel pentanuclear complexes [Cu 3Ln 2(ClCH 2CO 2) 12 (H 2O) 8]·2H 2O (Ln=La, Pr, Sm, Gd, Dy, or Er) were synthesized by the reaction of chloroacetic acid with Cu and Ln ions in aqueous solutions. The X ray crystallography established the structure of the Gd complex, which contains a pair of quadruply acetato bridged CuGd dinuclear subunits, and each of them is linked to the central Cu atom by a single acetato bridge. The coordination sphere of each Gd atom is completed by three aqua ligands [Gd-O=0.242 8(5)-0.244 4(4) nm] to form an 8 coordinated distorted square antiprism. The central Cu atom is coordinated by two oxygen atoms from the two bridging acetato groups and two oxygen atoms from the two monodentate acetato groups in a slightly distorted square planar fashion, while each terminal Cu atom is coordinated by the four acetato oxygen atoms at the basal plane and an aqua ligand at the apical position to form a square pyramid. The variable temperature (4 320 K) magnetic susceptibility data of the Gd complex were measured, and fitted to the Curie Weiss law with C =16.38 K cm 3·mol -1 and θ =-1.55 K, indicating very weak antiferromagnetic interaction.

A facile and highly diastereoselective method for the construction of 2-quaternary 1,3-amino alcohols and 1,3-diols has been developed on the basis of the AlEt3/THF-promoted tandem rearrangement/reductive reaction of a-hydroxy (amino) aziridines (epoxides). The progressive achievement in this article included that both 2-epimers of the units could be constructed from the initially same substrate. Also a stereochemistry assignment we reported previously was corrected.
