Background:The optimal surgical timing and clinical outcomes of ventricular septal defect(VSD)closure in neo-nates remain *** aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes of VSD closure in neonates(age≤30 days).Methods:We retrospectively reviewed 50 consecutive neonates who underwent VSD closure for isolated VSDs between August 2003 and June *** for the procedure included congestive heart failure/failure to thrive and pulmonary *** adverse events(MAEs)were deﬁned as the composite of all-cause mortality,reoperation,persistent atrioventricular block,and signiﬁcant(≥grade 2)valvular ***:The median age and body weight at operation were 26.0 days(interquartile range[IQR],18.8–28.3)and 3.7 kg(IQR,3.3–4.2),*** median follow-up duration was 110.4 months(IQR,56.8–165.0).Seven patients required preoperative respiratory support,andﬁve had signiﬁcant(≥grade 2)preoperative valvular *** early mortality occurred due to irreversible cardiogenic shock;no late mortality was *** reopera-tion was due to hemodynamically signiﬁcant residual VSD at 103.8 months *** overall survival,freedom from reoperation,and freedom from MAE at 15-years were 98.0%,96.3%,and 94.4%,***-operative mechanical ventilation was associated with a longer duration of postoperative mechanical ventilation(prespiratory support may require careful postoperative management considering the long-term postoperative ***,surgical VSD closure might be indicated earlier in neonates with respiratory compromise.

Glanzmann’s thrombasthenia(GT)is an inherited autosomal recessive bleeding disorder,resulting from mutations in the ITGA2B and ITGB3 genes,that lead to a defect in the platelet membrane integrinαIIbβ3.[1]As integrinαIIbβ3 plays an important role in thrombus formation,the clinical manifestation of GT includes bleeding(mostly mucocutaneous)and *** this reason,patients with GT are typically thought to be unlikely to suffer from thromboembolic *** is an anticoagulant that inhibits thrombin and is activated factor X and other serine proteases in the coagulation cascade.[2]Antithrombin deficiency is an autosomal dominant hereditary disease with an approximate prevalence of 1/500 in the overall population.[3]In contrast to the hemorrhagic tendency of GT,patients with antithrombin deficiency are at increased risk of thromboembolism,especially in the venous ***,we describe a rare case of GT and antithrombin deficiency coexisting in a single *** was used for the treatment of pulmonary embolism(PE)and deep vein thrombosis(DVT).

The health significance of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins,also known as remnant cholesterol,has been increasingly ***,evidence of their associations with cause-specific mortality in the general population was previously *** explore these associations and their heterogeneities across subgroups,a prospective cohort study was conducted including 3,403,414 community-based participants from China HEART,an ongoing government-funded public health program throughout China,from November 2014 through December *** study assessed mortality risk of all-cause mortality,cardiovascular disease(CVD)mortality(including mortality from ischemic heart diseases(IHD),ischemic stroke(IS),and hemorrhagic stroke(HS),separately),and cancer mortality(including lung cancer,stomach cancer,and liver cancer,separately).During the 4-year follow-up,23,646 individuals died from CVD(including 8807 from IHD,3067 from IS,and 5190 from HS),and 20,318 from cancer(including 6208 from lung cancer,3013 from liver cancer,and 2174 from stomach cancer).Compared with individuals with remnant cholesterolcardiovascular disease mortality,as well as a reduced risk of mortality for certain types of cancer.

Dear Editor,Gliomas are the most prevalent malignant tumors affecting the central nervous system (CNS), categorized into low-grade gliomas (LGG) comprising CNS WHO grades 2–3, and high-grade gliomas(HGG) encompassing CNS WHO grade 4(Aldape et al., 2015). The current standard therapeutic approach involves maximal safe margin excision followed by radiotherapy and temozolomide (TMZ)treatment (Armstrong et al., 2020).However, due to the unique site and microenvironment of gliomas, patients experience limited benefits from emerging revolutionary therapies such as targeted therapy and immunotherapy (Sampson et al., 2020; Yang et al., 2022).

Myocarditis is characterized by inflammatory cell infiltration into the myocardium and a high risk of deteriorating cardiac function with a heterogeneous etiology. Both viral- and myosin-induced myocarditis experimental models are used to mimic myocarditis in humans. Here, coxsackie virus B3-induced and non-virus-induced myocarditis models and data obtained in clinical studies were reviewed. Experimental murine myocarditis following immunization with α-myosin together with complete Freund adjuvant represents the classical immune-mediated model. T helper 1 (Th1) and Th2 pathways and important cytokines are involved in the autoimmunity of myocarditis, and the dynamic balance between Th17 and regulatory T cell seems to have an important role in the process of myocarditis. The purpose of this review is to summarize the existing understanding of the immunological mechanisms underlying myocarditis and exploring gaps in knowledge in both animal and human studies, since these mechanistic insights are a critical requirement for the development of novel therapeutic and vaccination strategies.
