Coronary bypass graft surgery (CABG) is a revascularization procedure which reduces myocardial ischemia and cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in selected patients;however, up to 40% of saphanous vein grafts may degenerate over 10 years. Although coronary angiography is the gold standard to detect graft patency and native vessel disease, sometimes it is difficult to locate the grafts resulting in increased exposure to radiation and contrast administration. This case highlights the utility of cardiac computerized tomography and magnetic resonance imaging to provide comprehensive noninvasive assessment in a patient post CABG.(J Geriatr Cardiol 2007;4:244-247.)

We present a retrospective analysis of three cases of cardiac hydatidosis,who underwent surgery between 2010 and *** patients had a lesion in the interventricular septum,whereas one patient had the lesion in apicoinferior wall of *** diagnosis was made by echocardiography,but magnetic resonance imaging was utilized to assess cyst activity and extend of *** patients were placed on cardiopulmonary *** postoperative complication or death *** patients discharged uneventfully and all of them were free from hydatid disease at two years *** concluded that cardiac hydatid cysts should be removed surgically regardless of their location or extent,even in asymptomatic patients.

*** study the mechanism and effects of blood perfusion on acute ischemic region of myocardium through channel created by Ho- Yag laser and True- cut biopsy needles with myocardial contrast echocardiography. Methods. We partially ligated the left anterior descending coronary artery of canine hearts between the lst and 2nd diagonal branches to produce two groups of acute myocardial ischemia models and then performed tran- smyocardial revascularization (TMR) on this region with Ho- Yag laser and True- cut biopsy needles. Myocardial contrast echocardiography was performed with a new generation of ultrasound contrast agent and second harmonic imaging of this region before, during ischemia and after revascularization. Pictures were taken with“ R” wave trigger skill. Results. Acoustic density (dB) in the ischemic region (anterior wall) with myocardial contrast echocardiography decreased obviously after the left anterior descending artery was ligated (Laser group: 5.40± 1.81, Needle group: 7.11± 2.51) compared with that before (Laser group: 11.69± 1.61, Needle group: 12.96± 2.88, P0.05). We found that the acoustic density of the contrast developed one picture (one cardiac cycle) ahead in the transmyocardial revascularization region than that in the lateral and other region of the left ventricle wall in the scan of both groups. Conclusions. Acute ischemic myocardium can be perfused immediately by oxygenated blood from the left ventricle through channels created with both Ho- Yag laser and True- cut biopsy needles. Evidence of blood perfusion through these channels mainly during systolic phase was detected, and myocardial contrast ultrasound using intravenous perfluorocarbon- exposed sonicated dextrose albumin was regarded as a reliable method i

A 54-year-old black African woman, 22 years human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)-positive, presented with an acute coronary syndrome. She was taking two nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors and two protease inhibitors. Viral load and CD4 count were stable. Angiography revealed a right coronary artery lesion, which was treated with everolimus eluting stent. She also underwent balloon angioplasty to the first diagonal. She re-presented on three different occasions and technically successful coronary intervention was performed. The patient has reported satisfactory compliance with dual anti platelet therapy throughout. She was successfully treated with surgical revascularisation. The patient did not experience any clinical recurrence on follow up. This case demonstrates exceptionally aggressive multifocal and recurrent instent restenosis in a patient treated for HIV infection, raising the possibility of an association with HIV infection or potentially components of retro viral therapy.

Dilated cardiomyopathy(DCM) is a primary myocardial disease of unknown cause that is characterized by ventricular enlargement and ventricular systolic dysfunction(Reichart et al., 2019). DCM exhibits obvious heterogeneity, and its outcomes extend from arrhythmia to heart failure. Early arrhythmia is a common condition that may progressively become aggravated, and death can occur at any stage of the disease. The most serious complications are heart failure and sudden death(Mc Nally et al., 2013).

The features of myocardial strains from speckle-tracking echocardiography (STE) have not been well defined in fulminant myocarditis (FM) *** this study,changes in the left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and global and layer-specific myocardial strains over time were *** aimed to determine the echocardiographic patterns of FM and ascertain their significance in FM *** patients who were clinically diagnosed with FM and received mechanical life support were prospectively *** echocardiographic measurements were obtained,and serial strain echocardiography was performed from admission to hospital discharge until LVEF recovery (> 50%).Global/regional peak systolic longitudinal strains (GLS/RLS) and layer-specific longitudinal strains were quantified,and their changes with time were monitored in 14 FM *** patients had severely impaired cardiac *** improvement in LVEF and GLS were observed within 6 ***-specific strain analysis showed that reduction at admission or recovery at discharge in the endocardium and epicardium strains were *** conclusion,FM patients who received mechanical circulatory supports exhibited steep improvement in ventricular function within 6 *** patchy and diffused distribution pattern of reduced RLS and equally and severely impaired strain in the endocardium and epicardium are valuable features in the diagnosis of FM.

Chronic stress is strongly associated with the occurrence and development of depression and cardiovascular *** can induce altered mitochondrial function and activation of apoptosis in the cardio-cerebral ***,it is unknown whether the protein kinase C ε（PKCε）-aldehyde dehydrogenase 2（ALDH2） pathway is altered under chronic stress,and this study sought to address this question.A rat model of depression was established using a chronic unpredictable mild stress（CUMS） *** experiencing CUMS for 4 weeks,the sucrose preference test and the forced swim test verified depressive-like *** linked immunosorbent assays showed that ALDH2 activity was decreased in the rat hippocampus and prefrontal cortex,but was not altered in the *** blot assays demonstrated reduced levels of ALDH2 and PKCε,but increased levels of 4-hydroxy-2-nonenal（4 HNE） ***-3 expression did not obviously alter,but active forms of caspase-3 were increased in the hippocampus and prefrontal *** the myocardium,expression of ALDH2,PKCε and 4 HNE adducts did not remarkably alter;while caspase-3 expression was reduced and the active forms of caspase-3 were ***＇s correlation test demonstrated that expression of 4 HNE adducts was positively correlated with levels of the active forms of caspase-3 in the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex,but not in the *** conclusion,chronic stress can damage the PKCε-ALDH2 signaling pathway in the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex,but not in the ***,4 HNE is associated with active forms of caspase-3 in the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex.
