Scientific literature on monosialoganglioside in the Science Citation Index-Expanded A bibliometric analysis of articles from 1942 to 2011 by each decade

BACKGROUND： The monosialoganglioside （GM1） is a popular topic of research but the bibliometric analysis of GM1 over the decades in Science Citation Index-Expanded （SCI-E） remains poorly understood. OBJECTIVE： To identify the global research and to improve the understanding of research trends in the GM1 field from 1942 to 2011. DESIGN： A bibliometric study. DATA RETRIEVAL： We performed a bibliometric analysis based on the SCI-E published by the Institute of Scientific Information. INCLUSIVE CRITERIA： Articles closely related to GM1 were included. Exclusive criteria：（1） Articles related to gangliosidosis, disialo-ganglioside, trisialo-ganglioside or ganglioside GQIb. （2） Document types such as meeting abstracts, reviews, proceedings papers, notes, and letters. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES：（1） Type of publication output; （2） number of author outputs; （3） distribution of output in subject categories; （4） publication distribution of countries; （5） distribution of output in journals, and （6） distribution of citations in each decade. RESULTS： During 1942 to 2011, there were 10 126 papers on GM1 that were added to the SCI. Articles （8 004） were the most frequently used document type comprising 79.0%, followed by meeting abstracts, reviews and proceedings papers. Research on GM1 could be found in the SCI from 1942, it was developed in the 1970s, greatly increased in the 1980s, and reached a peak in the 1990s, and it was slightly decreased in 2000. The distribution of subject categories showed that GM1 research covered both clinical and basic science research. The USA, Japan, and Germany were the three most productive countries, and the publication numbers in the USA were highest in all decades. The Joumal of Biological Chemistry, Journal of Neurochemistry and biochemistry were core subject journals in GM1 studies in each decade. CONCLUSION： This study highlights the topics in GM1 research that are being published around the world.

Novel coronavirus,SARS-CoV-2 is responsible for causing a pandemic that has affected individuals worldwide,over 192 million people and about 4.1 million people died so *** spread is ongoing and the numbers are still *** therapeutic approaches have been explored and developed during this *** with virus-specific antibodies in convalescent plasma(CP)has shown potential benefits for various pathogenic *** many instances,it is the only available and safe management option for the COVID-19 *** we describe two confirmed cases of COVID-19 from two different geographical areas that were managed with standard treatment modalities *** of the patients were presented with high-grade fever,dry cough,and sore *** reports showed increased values of D-dimer,serum ferritin,leukocyte count(LC),Lactate dehydrogenase(LDH),and C-reactive protein(CRP).Chest X-ray showed bilateral infiltration(multifocal and bilateral ground-glass opacities and consolidations with peripheral and basal predominance),consistent with the previous reports on COVID-19 *** patients received conservative treatment according to the hospital's *** convalescent plasma(from recovered patients)infusion was the last treatment given to both *** the convalescent plasma transfusion,both patients showed a reduction of viral load,an increase of anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG and IgM antibodies,reduction in lung infiltration,with no adverse ***,further randomized controlled trials are needed to investigate the full scope of safety and efficacy(both short and long-term)of convalescent plasma therapy for COVID-19 and other related infections.

The present work involves an extensive analytical and toxicological description of a recently identified mixed halogenated carbazole found in sediment samples,1,8-dibromo-3,6-dichloro-9H-carbazole(BCCZ).Concentrations and the relative effect potency(REP)were calculated for the target BCCZ in a set of stream sediments collected in 2008 in Ontario,*** levels calculated for BCCZ as compared to those previously assessed for legacy persistent organic pollutants(POPs)in the same samples revealed a significant contribution of BCCZ to the total organic chemical contamination(<1%e95%;average 37%).The corresponding dioxin toxic equivalencies(TEQs)of BCCZ in the sediment extracts were estimated from experimental REP *** experimental data presented supports the classification of this emerging halogenated chemical as a contaminant of emerging environmental *** potential emission sources could not be identified,this study highlights the importance of on-going research for complete characterization of halogenated carbazoles and related compounds.

Background: Hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) are classified clinically as pure when progressive spasticity occurs in isolation or complicated when other neurologic abnormalities are present. At least 22 genetic loci have been linked to HSP, 8 of which are autosomal recessive (ARHSP). HSP complicated with the presence of thin corpus callosum (HSP-TCC) is a common subtype of HSP. One genetic locus has been identified on chromosome 15q13-q15 (SPG11) for HSP-TCC, but some HSP-TCC families have not been linked to this locus. Methods: The authors characterized two families clinically and radiologically and performed a genome-wide scan and linkage analysis. Results: The two families had complicated ARHSP. The affected individuals in Family A had thin corpus callosum and mental retardation, whereas in Family B two of three affected individuals had epilepsy. In both families linkage analysis identified a locus on chromosome 8 between markers D8S1820 and D8S532 with the highest combined lod score of 7.077 at marker D8S505. This 9 cM interval located on 8p12-p11.21 represents a new locus for ARHSP-TCC. Neuregulin and KIF13B genes, located within this interval, are interesting functional candidate genes for this HSP form. Conclusion: Two consanguineous families with complicated autosomal recessive hereditary spastic paraplegia were clinically characterized and genetically mapped to a new locus on 8p12-p11.21.

Inhibitors of glucose transport and glycolysis as novel anticancer therapeutics

Metabolic reprogramming and altered energetics have become an emerging hallmark of cancer and an active area of basic, translational, and clinical cancer research in the recent decade. Development of effective anticancer therapeutics may depend on improved understanding of the altered cancer metabolism compared to that of normal cells. Changes in glucose transport and glycolysis, which are drastically upregulated in most can-cers and termed the Warburg effect, are one of major focuses of this new research area. By taking advantage of the new knowledge and understanding of cancer's mechanisms, numerous therapeutic agents have been developed to target proteins and enzymes involved in glucose transport and metabolism, with promising results in cancer cells, animal tumor models and even clinical trials. It has also been hypothesized that targeting a pathway or a process, such as glucose transport or glucose metabolism, rather than a specific protein or enzyme in a signaling pathway may be more effective. This is based on the observation that cancer somehow can always bypass the inhibition of a target drug by switching to a redundant or compensatory pathway. In addition, cancer cells have higher dependence on glucose. This review will provide background information on glucose transport and metabolism in cancer, and summarize new therapeutic developments in basic and translational research in these areas, with a focus on glucose transporter inhibitors and glycolysis inhibitors. The daunting challenges facing both basic and clinical researchers of the field are also presented and discussed.

Characterization and Optimization of Amylase Production in Strains LZ-10 and LZ-11 Belonging to Bacillus subtilis

In order to obtain pure enzyme with high activity,two amylase producing strains were isolated from soil samples,and named as the strains LZ-10 and *** to morphologic observation,physiology and biochemistry experiments,16S rRNA and gyrB gene analysis,the strains LZ-10 and LZ-11 were identified as Bacillus *** the method of ammonium sulfate,DEAE-52 anion purify enzyme,finally used polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis(SDS-PAGE)to detect molecular *** strain LZ-10 had an amylase activity of 123.3 U·mL^(-1),a purification factor of 6.8,a recovery rate of 69.5% and an optimal temperature of 50℃.The amylase activity of the strain LZ-11 was 59.91 U·mL^(-1),the purification factor was 4.5,the recovery rate was 60.5%,and the optimum temperature was 55℃.The commodity enzyme derived from Bacillus subtilis was 37.5 U·mL^(-1).The relative molecular weight of amylase activity from the two strains was 55 *** thermal stability and pH stability were higher than those of commercialized amylase.

The formation of undersaturated lead or iodide ions and I_(2) on the perovskite surface can decrease the performance and stability of perovskite solar cells(PSCs).Additionally,the leakage of noxious lead limits the application of ***,we develop a strategy for molecular modulation of a perovskite surface using thiol copper(Ⅱ)porphyrin(CuP)to post-treat the perovskite film.
