FPGA based soft vector processing accelerators are used frequently to perform highly parallel data processing tasks. Since they are not able to implement complex control manipulations using software, most FPGA systems now incorporate either a soft processor or hard processor. A FPGA based AXI bus compatible vector accelerator architecture is proposed which utilises fully pipelined and heterogeneous ALU for performance, and microcoding is employed for reusability. The design is tested with several design examples in four different lane *** with Central processing unit(CPU), Digital signal processor(DSP), Altera C2H tool and Open CL SDK implementations, the vector processor improves on execution time and energy consumption by factors of up to 6.6 and 6.4 respectively.

A modelling method of microburst fields based on the slanted vortex-ring model was proposed. Unlike the previous vortex-ring-based model which can only generate the vertically downward microburst fields, the proposed method can produce the slanted microburst fields which are closer to the natural conditions. By setting the slant angle and the orientation angle of the slanted vortexring model, the microburst fields with any slant angle and orientation angle can be generated. A nested DE algorithm was introduced for the selection of model parameters, through which the model parameters can be flexibly and easily determined in accordance with the experimental requirements. A series of experiments were conducted and the results indicate that the proposed method can accurately and effectively generate the microburst fields.

Cyber-physical systems CPS are complex systems with organic integration and in-depth collaboration of computation, communications and control 3C technology. Subject to the theory and technology of existing network systems and physical systems, the development of CPS is facing enormous challenges. This paper first introduces the concept and characteristics of CPS and analyzes the present situation of CPS researches. Then the development of CPS is discussed from perspectives of system model, information processing technology and software design. At last it analyzes the main obstacles and key researches in developing CPS. © 2014 Chinese Association of Automation.

Lithium-ion batteries have become the third-generation space batteries and are widely utilized in a series of spacecraft. Remaining Useful Life （RUL） estimation is essential to a spacecraft as the battery is a critical part and determines the lifetime and reliability. The Relevance Vector Machine （RVM） is a data-driven algorithm used to estimate a battery＇s RUL due to its sparse feature and uncertainty management capability. Especially, some of the regressive cases indicate that the RVM can obtain a better short-term prediction performance rather than long-term prediction. As a nonlinear kernel learning algorithm, the coefficient matrix and relevance vectors are fixed once the RVM training is conducted. Moreover, the RVM can be simply influenced by the noise with the training data. Thus, this work proposes an iterative updated approach to improve the long-term prediction performance for a battery＇s RUL prediction. Firstly, when a new estimator is output by the RVM, the Kalman filter is applied to optimize this estimator with a physical degradation model. Then, this optimized estimator is added into the training set as an on-line sample, the RVM model is re-trained, and the coefficient matrix and relevance vectors can be dynamically adjusted to make next iterative prediction. Experimental results with a commercial battery test data set and a satellite battery data set both indicate that the proposed method can achieve a better performance for RUL estimation.

Discrete cosine transform(DCT) is an effective method to extract proper features for face recognition. Discrete cosine transform can only map the resource data to another data field instead of compress *** to select the DCT coefficients that are most effective for classification is an important problem. This paper proposes a novel method to search the best discriminant combination of DCT coefficients. A feature selection algorithm according to the separability criterion is used to preselect the DCT coefficients, and then follows a search algorithm based on binary particle swarm optimization and support vector machine to find an optimal combination of the DCT coefficient. The performance of the algorithm is assessed by computing the recognition rate and the number of selected features on ORL database and Cropped Yale database.

We derive an analytical expression for the propagation factor（known as M2-factor） of electromagnetic concentric rings Schell-model（EM CRSM） beams in non-Kolmogorov turbulence by utilizing the extended Huygens–Fresnel diffraction integral formula and the second-order moments of the Wigner distribution function（WDF）. Our results show that the EM CRSM beam has advantage over the scalar CRSM beam for reducing the turbulence-induced degradation under suitable conditions. The EM CRSM beam with multi-rings far-fields in free space is less affected by the turbulence than the one with dark-hollow far-fields or the electromagnetic Gaussian Schell-model（EGSM） beam. The dependence of the M2-factor on the beam parameters and the turbulence are investigated in detail.

Design of multi-spectrum BRDF measurement system

A multi-spectrum bidirectional reflectance distribution function （BRDF） measurement system was developed with the adoption of single reference standard measurement method. An arm-adjustable corner device was designed for the BRDF system. Changing the distance to the sample by moving the detector arm made the device applicable to different wavelengths. The system could be used for the spectrum range from visible light （0.6328μm） to mid-far infrared （10.6μm）, the facular size between 0.8 3 cm. The rotating limit of detector arm was ±180°, the rotation range of sample holding table was 360°, and the angle resolution was 0.036°. A silicon carbide sample was measured using this system with reflectance zenith from -55° to ＋55°. According to the error analysis, the measurement uncertainty of this device was about 6.42%.

A new screen-spot imaging method based on optical measurement is proposed, which is applicable to the close-range measurement of aircraft＇s three-dimensional （3D） attitude parameters. Laser tracker is used to finish the global calibrations of the high-speed cameras and the fixed screens on test site, as well as to establish media-coordinate-frames among various coordinate systems. The laser cooperation object mounted on the aircraft surface projects laser beams on the screens and the high-speed cameras synchronously record the light-spots＇ position changing with aircraft attitude. The recorded image sequences are used to compute the aircraft attitude parameters. Based on the matrix analysis, the error sources of the measurement accuracy are analyzed, and the maximum relative error of this mathematical model is estimated. The experimental result shows that this method effectively makes the change of aircraft position distinguishable, and the error of this method is no more than 3′ while the rotation angles of three axes are within a certain range.

Microburst is a special kind of low-level wind shear, which may do great damage to aircrafts. Modelling of a microburst is significant for flight simulations. In this paper we adopt multiple vortex ring principle to model microburst and propose a new parameter selection method of multiple vortex ring model. We treat the parameters selection as an optimization problem, and introduce the differential evolution algorithm into it. A nested differential evolution algorithm is proposed to complete the two optimization process, objective optimization and intermediate optimization. The simulation results show that this method can flexibly generate microburst with any maximum wind velocity.
