Acupuncture improves the live birth of patients with repeated implantation failure: a retrospective cohort study

OBJECTIVE: To explore the therapeutic efficacy of acupuncture treatment on repeated implantation failure(RIF) patients with cryo-thawed embryo transfer(CET).METHODS: In a retrospective cohort study, all eligible women undergoing RIF were recruited in our center from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2021. The patients were grouped by whether an acceptance of acupuncture treatment before CET, including the acupuncture group(Acu-group, 55 cycles) and control group(Con-group,244 cycles). Data were analyzed by using binary logistic regression to explore the relationship of acupuncture treatment with pregnancy ***: The Acu-group had higher live-birth rate(LBR)[54.5% vs 41.0%, respectively; odds ratio(OR) = 1.105,95% confidence interval(CI)(1.029, 1.187), P = 0.006]and ongoing pregnancy rate(OPR) [56.4% vs 43.0%,respectively; OR = 1.100, 95% CI(1.025, 1.181), P =0.008] than the Con-group. There were no significant between-group differences in the rates of implantation [OR = 1.070, 95% CI(0.996, 1.149), P = 0.064], clinical pregnancy [OR = 1.065, 95% CI(0.997, 1.138), P =0.061], biochemical pregnancy [OR = 1.002, 95% CI(0.903, 1.112), P = 0.967], or miscarriage [OR = 0.778,95% CI(0.551, 1.099), P = 0.155]. Perinatal outcomes did not differ significantly between the two ***: Acupuncture treatment could improve the LBR and OPR in RIF patients with CET cycles,suggesting a potential adjuvant therapy of acupuncture to improve the pregnancy outcomes in RIF patients.

Bone homeostasis relies on the dynamic balance of osteoblast mediated bone construction and osteoclast-based bone resorption processes,which has been reported to be controlled by various mineral ***,there is no direct evidence of the effect and the underlying mechanism of high salt stimulation on bone *** this study,we demonstrated that high salt stimulation promoted excessive mitochondrial fission mediated by dynamin-related protein 1 in mesenchymal stem cells,which resulted in impaired mitochondrial morphology and ***,this impairment hindered the bone formation of mesenchymal stem cells,resulting in osteopenia in ***,the impaired property of mesenchymal stem cells which was caused by high salt was controlled by dynamin-related protein 1 mediated mitochondrial fission,which inhibited the classical Wnt signaling ***,the osteogenic property of mesenchymal stem cells decreased by high salt could be restored by exosomes to transfer the mitochondrial DNA into the impaired mesenchymal stem *** study provides not only new strategies for promoting bone regeneration but also new insights into the effect and mechanism of exosome-mediated delivery.

Prognostic value of Controlling Nutritional Status score for postoperative complications and biochemical recurrence in prostate cancer patients undergoing laparoscopic radical prostatectomy

Background:Controlling Nutritional Status(CONUT)score was used for screening the preoperative nutritional *** correlation between the CONUT score and the prognosis of patients with prostate cancer(PCa)has yet to be ***,we analyzed the prognostic value of CONUT scores in patients with PCa who underwent laparoscopic radical *** and methods:Data of 244 patients were retrospectively *** variables and follow-up data were *** patients were categorized into 2 groups according to their preoperative CONUT *** complication and incontinence rates were also *** Kaplan-Meier method was used to estimate the median biochemical recurrence-free survival(BCRFS)between the 2 *** and multivariate Cox regression analyses were performed to identify the potential prognostic factors for ***:Patients were categorized into the low-CONUT group(CONUT score<3,n=207)and high-CONUT group(CONUT score≥3,n=37).The high-CONUT group had a higher overall complication rate(40.5%vs.19.3%,p=0.004),a higher major complication rate(10.8%vs.3.9%,p=0.013),and longer postoperative length of stay(8 days vs.7 days,p=0.017).More fever,urinary infection,abdominal infection,scrotal edema,rash,and hemorrhagic events(all p values<0.05)were observed in the high-CONUT group.A higher rate of urinary incontinence was observed in the high-CONUT group at 1(34.4%vs.13.2%,p=0.030)and 3 months(24.1%vs.8.2%,p=0.023)*** high-CONUT group had shorter medium BCRFS(23.8 months vs.54.6 months,p=0.029),and a CONUT score≥3 was an independent risk factor for a shorter BCRFS(hazards ratio,1.842;p=0.026).Conclusions:The CONUT score is a useful predictive tool for higher postoperative complication rates and shorter BCRFS in patients with PCa who undergo laparoscopic radical prostatectomy.

BACKGROUND The liver is an important metabolic and digestive organ in the human body,ca-pable of producing bile,clotting factors,and *** To investigate the recovery of gastrointestinal function in patients after hepato-biliary surgery and identify effective rehabilitation *** A total of 200 patients who underwent hepatobiliary surgery in our hospital in 2022 were selected as the study *** were divided into a control group and a study group based on the extent of the surgery,with 100 patients in each *** control group received routine treatment,while the study group re-ceived targeted interventions,including early enteral nutrition support,drinking water before gas discharge,and large bowel enema,to promote postoperative gastrointestinal function *** recovery of gastrointestinal function was compared between the two *** Compared with the control group,patients in the study group had better recovery of bowel sounds and less accumulation of fluids in the liver bed and gallbladder fossa(P<0.05).They also had shorter time to gas discharge and first meal(P<0.05),higher overall effective rate of gastrointestinal function recovery(P<0.05),and lower incidence of postoperative complications(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Targeted nursing interventions(early nutritional support,drinking water before gas discharge,and enema)can effectively promote gastrointestinal function recovery in patients undergoing hepatobiliary surgery and reduce the incidence of complications,which is worthy of promotion.

A real-world study of the differences in Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis and treatment rules for coronavirus disease 2019 between Northern and Southern China

OBJECTIVE: To explore the differences in Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) diagnosis and treatment rules for coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) between Northern and Southern China based on the real-world data from 982 COVID-19 patients. METHODS: All consecutive cases of COVID-19 admitted to the TCM department of designated COVID-19 hospitals in eight provinces and cities were retrospectively analyzed. Patients were divided into a Northern and a Southern group according to the location of the admitting hospital. The symptoms, syndrome elements, syndrome distribution and herbal treatments were analyzed. The core prescriptions were extracted using the multiscale backbone-based network comparison algorithm(msbNC). RESULTS: The distribution of syndrome elements showed that dampness was common in Northern and Southern China, wind and heat were more often present in the South, while fire toxin and spleen deficiency were more often encountered in the North. The distribution of syndromes showed that the South was dominated by heat dampness accumulating in the lung(55.69%), while the North was dominated by dampness-toxin stagnating in the lung(44.90%).The results of core prescription mining showed that dispelling dampness, dispersing wind, clearing heat and strengthening spleen were the common treatment methods in Northern and Southern China. For mild cases, Jinyinhua(Flos Lonicerae) and Lianqiao(Fructus Forsythiae Suspensae) were often used in the South to clear heat and relieve exterior symptoms, while Chaihu(Radix Bupleuri Chinensis) and Huangqin(Radix Scutellariae Baicalensis) were often used in the North to relieve muscles by expelling heat. For moderate cases, Chaihu(Radix Bupleuri Chinensis), Qinghao(Herba Artemisiae Annuae), and Shigao(Gypsum Fibrosum) were often used to clear heat of Tri-jiao Channel and stomach in the South, while Fuling(Poria), Chenpi(Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae), and Dangshen(Radix Codonopsis) were often used to invigorate spleen and remove damp

AIM:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Usights UC100 illuminated microcatheter in microcatheter-assisted trabeculotomy(MAT).METHODS:Totally 10 eyes of 10 patients with primary open angle glaucoma(POAG)who underwent MAT facilitated by Usights UC100(5 eyes)or iTrack(5 eyes)were *** success of this surgery was defined as intraocular pressure(IOP)30%reduction,without oral glaucoma medications,or additional glaucoma ***:The mean pre-operative IOP was 25.38±10.22 mm Hg in the Usights UC100 group and 19.98±3.87 mm Hg in the iTrack *** was achieved in all eyes in both *** success rates for the Usights UC100 group and iTrack groups were in all and 4 eyes,*** microcatheters produced a statistically significant reduction in IOP,and eyes using Usights UC100 achieved a lower IOP than the iTrack group at 3mo followup(12.58±1.52 and 14.84±1.89 mm Hg,respectively),but no statistical significance was *** severe side effects were observed in either ***:MAT using Usights UC100 or iTrack both achieve significant pressure reduction in cases of POAG,and Usights UC100 is as safe as iTrack.
