Carbon capture and storage(CCS)is a feasible strategy to mitigate the increasing carbon dioxide(CO2)emission,which is believed to be responsible for ocean acidification and global ***,the separation of CO2 from natural gas is also of critical importance in industry,because CO2 as the major impurity significantly reduces the conversion rate and energy content of natural gas[1].Currently,the main-stream technology for largescale capture and sorption of CO2 from industrial streams is amine-based wet scrubbing because the amine-based solutions have large CO2 capacity and high selectivity for acidic ***,a major drawback of their high heat capacity makes the regeneration very energy intensive and *** address the issue,solid porous adsorbents have emerged as the promising alternative owing to their much lower heat capacity.

intensive treatment of hyperlipidemia is an important factor in the prevention of cardiovascular disease. Among several therapies, statins are well recognized as playing a central role, although low density lipoprotein bound cholesterol-apheresis can be used to treat very severe cases of familial hypercholesterolemia. However, statins are not always effective on their own and, recently, ezetimibe has emerged as a unique anti- hypercholesterolemic drug that acts as a cholesterol transporter inhibitor;its role is only partially understood. I experienced rare case that appeared to benefit from ezetimibe therapy, and report them as they help increase our knowledge of this novel drug.

The emergence of van der Waals(vdW)materials resulted in the discovery of their high optical,mechanical,and electronic anisotropic properties,immediately enabling countless novel phenomena and *** success inspired an intensive search for the highest possible anisotropic properties among vdW ***,the identification of the most promising among the huge family of vdW materials is a challenging quest requiring innovative ***,we suggest an easy-to-use method for such a survey based on the crystallographic geometrical perspective of vdW materials followed by their optical *** our approach,we found As2S3 as a highly anisotropic vdW *** demonstrates high in-plane optical anisotropy that is~20%larger than for rutile and over two times as large as calcite,high refractive index,and transparency in the visible range,overcoming the century-long record set by *** these benefits,As2S3 opens a pathway towards nextgeneration nanophotonics as demonstrated by an ultrathin true zero-order quarter-wave plate that combines classical and the Fabry–Pérot optical phase ***,our approach provides an effective and easy-to-use method to find vdW materials with the utmost anisotropic properties.

BACKGROUND: Noninvasive monitoring of intra-abdominal pressure(IAP) by measuring abdominal wall tension(AWT) was effective and feasible in previous postmortem and animal studies. This study aimed to investigate the feasibility of the AWT method for noninvasively monitoring IAP in the intensive care unit(ICU).METHODS: In this prospective study, we observed patients with detained urethral catheters in the ICU of Shanghai Tenth People's Hospital between April 2011 and March 2013. The correlation between AWT and urinary bladder pressure(UBP) was analyzed by linear regression analysis. The effects of respiratory and body position on AWT were evaluated using the paired samples t test, whereas the effects of gender and body mass index(BMI) on baseline AWT(IAP<12 mm Hg) were assessed using one-way analysis of ***: A total of 51 patients were studied. A significant linear correlation was observed between AWT and UBP(R=0.986, P<0.01); the regression equation was Y=–1.369+9.57X(P<0.01). There were signif icant differences among the different respiratory phases and body positions(P<0.01). However, gender and BMI had no signif icant effects on baseline AWT(P=0.457 and 0.313, respectively).CONCLUSIONS: There was a signif icant linear correlation between AWT and UBP and respiratory phase, whereas body position had signif icant effects on AWT but gender and BMI did not. Therefore, AWT could serve as a simple, rapid, accurate, and important method to monitor IAP in critically ill patients.
