Background Providing access to pediatric palliative care(PPC)for children living with a serious illness,such as cancer,is of critical importance,although this specialized intervention,as a novel concept,still seems vague and *** present study analyzed the concept of PPC for children with *** Rodgers'evolutionary method was employed for the concept *** on PPC,particularly those for children suffering from cancer,published between 2010 and 2021 were searched in valid academic research *** inclusion criteria for the full-text articles were based on the characteristics,antecedents,and consequences of PPC for children with *** In total,19 relevant articles were selected and then reviewed and analyzed after applying the inclusion criteria and the final *** analysis of the concept of PPC for children affected with cancer revealed four characteristics,including"PPC as holistic and integrated care","PPC as patient-and family-centered care","PPC as early-start continuous care",and"PPC as interdisciplinary and team-based care".Some effective factors could also act as antecedents for this concept,i.e.,health care providers'training and expertise as well as human resources and ***,improved quality of life,symptom reduction,and coordination between patient care and family support were among the PPC consequences for such *** The study results demonstrated that delivering PPC to children with cancer demanded a comprehensive view of its various ***,numerous factors need to be delineated for its accurate and complete implementation.

Despite effective treatment options, more than 40% of cancer patients receive inadequate pain management. Our previous pilot study resulted in substantial adaptations of a cancer pain self-management intervention, the German PRO-Self? Plus Pain Control Program originally developed in the United States. This program will be implemented into clinical practice at the Medical Center-University of Freiburg. The purpose of this multiple methods pilot study is to test the implementation regarding feasibility and effects in clinical practice. In a randomized, wait-list controlled pilot study, adult oncology in-patients of a palliative care consultation service with pain >3/10 will be recruited. The intervention will be performed by a specialized advanced practice nurse with an in-hospital visit and, after discharge, via phone calls and visits. The follow-up will be personalized according to a clinical algorithm that factors in pain intensity, satisfaction with pain management, and patient adherence. The intervention includes structured and tailored components and is based on three key strategies: information, skill building and nurse coaching. The specific aims of this study are threefold: 1) to test the feasibility of the study and intervention procedures;2) to establish effect sizes of main outcome variables (e.g. decrease pain intensity, reduce the number of patients with pain as main symptom) for subsequent power calculation;3) to explore participants’ experiences with pain self-management support and their view of burden and benefit from study participation in a qualitative substudy. During the study period, which includes three data collection time points (T0 before, T1 one week and T2 six weeks after discharge), data will be collected via field notes of study nurses and questionnaires of patients. The results of this pilot study will build the basis for a larger comparative effectiveness study in which long term outcomes of a cancer pain self-management intervention

Introduction: Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) are among the most complex health problems of the 21st century. Young people aged 15 - 24 years are the HIV/AIDS at risk group. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of an educational interventional program on knowledge on HIV/AIDS among adolescent students of higher secondary school in Kathmandu, Nepal. Methods: The study was the pre test - post test experimental study design with an experimental and a control group conducted in the randomly selected eighteen higher secondary schools. The intervention, educational package on HIV/AIDS, was provided to all grade twelve students in the intervention group from 1st September, 2017 to 2nd January, 2018. In total, 321 from the intervention group, and 283 from the control enrolled at baseline and over 95% of these were followed up at posttest. The data were collected from self-administered questionnaires in English version and analyzed by using independence t-test and paired t-test. Results: Overall pretest knowledge of both intervention and control groups was comparable with 27.58 ± 4.05 and 28.53 ± 3.77 mean ± standard deviation respectively. But statistical analysis showed significant higher knowledge (P = 0.03) among control group. After the educational intervention, the mean knowledge score of control group increased by only 0.47, whereas the same score increased by 11.57 and reached 39.15 ± 3.7 in post-test for intervention group. The difference in post-test score was statistically highly significant (P Conclusion: Educational intervention was efficacious in improving awareness of adolescent students on HIV/AIDS. The study has also indicated that remarkable numbers of adolescents are practicing high risk behavior for HIV/AIDS like having early initiation sexual intercourse, multiple sex partners, using alcohol before intercourse etc. There is need to promote education program among higher secondary

Objective:The aim of this study was to evaluate health-promoting behaviors among hypertensive patients with and without ***:A cross-sectional study using multistage cluster sampling in Indonesia was *** health-promoting behaviors were assessed using Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile 2 and analyzed using independent t-test,point-biserial correlation,and logistic ***:A total of 116 participants joined this *** score of health-promoting behaviors in adults with and without hypertension was 2.90 and 2.79,*** patients with comorbidities had significantly higher results than those without comorbidities,with the following results for the considered subscales:total score(t=-2.00,P=0.047);health responsibility(t=-3.46,P=0.001);and nutrition(t=-2.82,P=0.006).Positive correlations were found between health responsibility(r_(pb)=0.260,P<0.01),nutrition(r_(pb)=0.255,P<0.01),and health-promoting behaviors(r_(pb)=0.185,P<0.05)and the existing *** gender indicated a significant outcome for the existing comorbidity in hypertensive patients(odds ratio=4.314,P=0.027,95%confidence interval=1.185-15.706).Conclusions:Hypertensive patients with comorbidities showed higher engagement in health-promoting behaviors and the male gender was a significant predictor for existing comorbidity among patients with hypertension.

Dietary adherence and the associated factors among Indonesian patients with type 2 diabetes: what should we be concerned about?

Objective: To identify the level of dietary adherence for particular foods and determine which are challenging for patients with diabetes in Indonesia, as well as the associated factors. Methods: This study was conducted in a primary health care facility, using a cross-sectional design. Diabetic patients who had received dietary education, agreed to par ticipate, and adult age were invited. All patients with type 1, gestational, and other types of diabetes who did not join regular meetings of Prolanis and were repor ted moving or dying were excluded. The data collection used demographic and perceived dietary adherence questionnaires(PDAQs). Moreover, the height, weight, and blood glucose level were recorded. Data were analyzed using Pearson, point biserial correlation, and one-way analysis of variance(ANOVA) tests. Results: The respondents were mostly female, married, and non-smoking with a mean age of 60.2 ± 8.48 years. Mean score for dietary adherence was 29.7 ± 8.85 with scores from the specific food groups between 0.72 ± 1.89 and 4.60 ± 2.30. The lower scores of adherence were identified on low-sugar foods, high-fiber foods, fish and foods with high omega-3, and olive/organic oils in cooking. Additionally, people living with diabetes for more than 10 years and not having any comorbidity showed a higher score of dietary adherence. Conclusions: There were 4 groups of foods that had a low score of adherence. Accordingly, health care providers working in primary health care should be concerned about those 4 food groups during diabetes education and counseling. Public health workers should make more effor ts to promote consumption of the healthy diet among patients with diabetes, par ticularly those who have had diabetes for less than 10 years and other comorbidities.

Objective: This study aimed to examine the sleep quality and prevalence of depression in post myocardial infarction patients attending cardiology outpatient clinics of selected hospitals in ***: A descriptive cross-sectional design was used to collect data from patients (n 180) who were at least 4 weeks post myocardial infarction diagnosis and receiving follow-up care in the outpatient *** Arabic version of the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and Patient Health Questionnaire-9 were used to assess sleep quality and depressive symptoms,***: The sample mean age was 62.0 ± 11.3 *** sleep quality affected 61.1% of the *** significant predictors of poor sleep quality were gender (P ≤ 0.05),body mass index (P ≤ 0.05),and self-reported regular exercise (P ≤ 0.01).The most impacted domains of sleep quality were sleep latency,sleep duration,and sleep *** prevalence of major depression was low (5%) and the rate of re-infarction was 27.2%.The prevalence of minimal to mild major depression with a potential of transitioning into major depression overtime was very ***-reported regular exercise (P ≤ 0.01) was the only significant predictor of depressive ***: The sleep quality of post myocardial infarction patients was poor and the prevalence of depression was *** was no significant relationship between sleep quality or depression with reinfarction.

Objectives:Loneliness is a biopsychosocial determinant of health and contributes to physical and psychological chronic illnesses,functional decline,and mortality in older *** paper presents the results of the first randomized trial of LISTEN,which is a new cognitive behavioral intervention for loneliness,on loneliness,neuroimmunological stress response,psychosocial functioning,quality of life,and measures of physical ***:The effectiveness of LISTEN was evaluated in a sample population comprising 27 lonely,chronically ill,older adults living in *** were randomized into LISTEN or educational attention control *** measures included salivary cortisol and DHEA,interleukin-6,interleukin-2,depressive symptoms,loneliness,perceived social support,functional ability,quality of life,fasting glucose,blood pressure,and body mass ***:At 12 weeks after the last intervention session,participants of the LISTEN group reported reduced loneliness(p=0.03),enhanced overall social support(p=0.05),and decreased systolic blood pressure(p=0.02).The attention control group reported decreased functional ability(p=0.10)and reduced quality of life(p=0.13).Conclusions:LISTEN can effectively diminish loneliness and decrease the systolic blood pressure in community-dwelling,chronically ill,older *** indicate that this population,if left with untreated loneliness,may experience functional impairment over a period as short as 4 *** studies on LISTEN are needed with larger samples,in varied populations,and over longer periods of time to assess the long-term effects of diminishing loneliness in multiple chronic conditions.

Caring for cancer patients requires both technical and psychosocial nursing *** aim of this study was to determine the psychosocial care skill levels of nurses and affecting *** multicenter,cross-sectional study was conducted with 1,189 nurses providing direct care to adult cancer patients in 32 hospitals in 12 geographical regions of Turkey.A questionnaire,the Psychosocial Skills Form,and the Professional Quality of Life Scale were used to collect the ***’psychosocial skill level was in the range of 2.72±0.98 and 2.47±0.89 out of four *** skills such as empathic response,active listening,and the ability to provide information were found to be at a higher level than skills such as the activation of social support systems,therapeutic touch,and development of coping *** 40%of nurses had received psychosocial care training,and 87%were interested in receiving additional psychosocial ***,educational status,previous training in psychosocial care,and work experience with cancer patients were shown to affect psychosocial skill *** was a positive relationship between the level of psychosocial skills and the level of compassion satisfaction,and a negative relationship between the level of psychosocial skills and the level of burnout and compassion fatigue(pcare for cancer patients.
