A series of mononuclear complexes and unsymmetric dinuclear alkynylplatinum(II)terpyridine complexes with oligo(paraphenylene ethynylene)(OPE)-derived backbone with a variation of the lengths of alkoxy chains and OPE backbones was *** morphological properties,packing lattice and gelation behaviors of the mononuclear complexes were systematically studied,and the thermodynamic parameters and packing lattices of the dinuclear complexes were also investigated,providing further insights into the roles of the non-covalent interactions and their delicate balance in constructing sophisticated supramolecular *** and nanotube formation have been observed upon a delicate control of the intermolecular interactions by altering the lengths and structural dimensions of the complexes.

Hormones play important roles in vegetative and reproductive processes;however,the regulatory roles of hormones in Nelumbo nucifera(Lotus)growth and development are *** this study,nine types of endogenous hormones,including gibberellins(GA_1,GA_3,and GA_4),indole-3-acetic acid(IAA),brassinolide(BR),ethylene(ETH),jasmonic acid(JA),abscisic acid(ABA),and zeatin(ZT)were detected in dormant shoot tips,vegetative shoot tips,developing leaf buds,and developing flower buds of *** results indicated that GA,ETH,and BR signaling can promote vegetative and reproductive development of *** signaling regulates plant height and stimulates flower bud *** levels were the highest in the flower buds;exogenous GA3+4 increased plant height by approximately 90%,increased flower quantity by nearly 40%,and advanced flowering by 4 *** GA biosynthesis using paclobutrazol decreased plant height and flower quantity by 38%and 87.1%,respectively,and delayed flowering by 15.6 *** signaling has positive regulatory effects on vegetative growth and flower *** ETH concentration in the developing leaf buds was at least 50%higher than that in other *** spraying led to remarkable increases in plant height and leaf thickness and extended the flowering *** signaling acts as a growth promoter during vegetative and reproductive development in *** highest BR levels were detected in the vegetative shoot *** application of28-epihomobrassinolide resulted in growth-promoting phenotypes including longer scapes,thicker leaves,and prolonged flowering.

Glaucoma is a chronic, progressive optic neuropathy characterized by the loss of peripheral vision first and then central vision. Clinically, normal tension glaucoma is considered a special subtype of glaucoma, in which the patient’s intraocular pressure is within the normal range, but the patient experiences typical glaucomatous changes. However, increasing evidence has challenged the traditional pathophysiological view of normal tension glaucoma, which is based only on intraocular pressure, and breakthroughs in central nervous system imaging may now greatly increase our knowledge about the mechanisms underlying normal tension glaucoma. In this article, we review the latest progress in understanding the pathogenesis of normal tension glaucoma and in developing imaging techniques to detect it, to strengthen the appreciation for the connection between normal tension glaucoma and the brain.

Background:To test clinically relevant factors associated with quantitative artifact-free deep capillary plexus(DCP)metrics in patients with diabetes mellitus(DM).Methods:563 eligible eyes(221 with no diabetic retinopathy[DR],135 with mild DR,130 with moderate DR,and 77 with severe DR)from 334 subjects underwent optical coherence tomography-angiography(OCT-A)with a swept-source OCT(Triton DRI-OCT,Topcon,Inc.,Tokyo,Japan).Strict criteria were applied to exclude from analysis those DCP images with artifacts and of poor quality,including projection artifacts,motion artifacts,blurriness,signal loss,B-scan segmentation error,or low-quality score.A customized MATLAB program was then used to quantify DCP morphology from the artifact-free DCP images by calculating three metrics:foveal avascular zone(FAZ),vessel density(VD),and fractal dimension(FD).Results:166(29.5%)eyes were excluded after quality control,leaving in the analysis 397 eyes(170 with no DR,101 with mild DR,90 with moderate DR,36 with severe DR)from 250 *** the multiple regression models,larger FAZ area was associated with more severe DR(β=0.687;p=0.037),shorter axial length(AL)(β=−0.171;p=0.003),thinner subfoveal choroid thickness(β=−0.122;p=0.031),and lower body mass index(BMI)(β=−0.090;p=0.047).Lower VD was associated with more severe DR(β=−0.842;p=0.001),shorter AL(β=0.107;p=0.039),and poorer visual acuity(VA)(β=−0.133;p=0.021).Lower FD was associated with more severe DR(β=−0.891;p<0.001)and with older age(β=−0.142;p=0.004).Conclusions:Quantitative artifact-free DCP metrics are associated with VA,DR severity,AL,subfoveal choroidal thickness,age,and BMI in diabetic *** effects of ocular and systemic factors should be considered for meaningful interpretations of DCP changes in DM patients.

This study analyzes the impact of biomass energy,financial development,and economic growth on environmental quality using the novel Fourier autoregressive distributed lag(ARDL)approach on annual data for the period 1965–2018 in the United States(USA).The study analyzes the impact of related variables on the load capacity factor(LCF)as well as on indicators of environmental degradation such as carbon dioxide emissions and ecological *** LCF is one of the most comprehensive environmental indicators to date,encompassing both biocapacity and ecological *** this regard,this study contributes to the environmental economics literature by examining,for the first time,the impact of biomass energy on the *** results of the cointegration test show that there is only a long-run relationship between the LCF and the independent *** to the Fourier ARDL results,biomass energy improves the environmental quality,while financial development has no effect on the ***,the increase in per capita income reduces the ***,since the income elasticity is larger in the long run than in the short-run,the environmental Kuznets curve is ***,the United States government should encourage the use of biomass and investment in this form of energy.

Prevalence of pre-school children for overweight/obesity in Turkey

Background Most of the studies and interventions are targeted to address undernutrition, but childhood obesity has become a silent killer among children. Developing countries, including Turkey, could recognize the importance of the issue now and have begun to discuss the necessity of studies on this subject. Therefore, this study aims to examine the prevalence of obesity among pre-school children in Turkey. Methods The data source of this study is the Turkey Demographic and Health Survey (TDHS)-2013. The TDHS-2013 was a sample study to gather information about the fertility levels and changes in them, infant and child mortality, family plan-ning, and maternal and infant health at the national level. Results Overweight/obesity for height was 8.6% and 6.6% for age. Overweight/obesity problems are mostly observed in the West and are higher in urban areas. Overweight/obesity decreases with increasing age. There is a positive correlation between overweight/obesity and maternal educational level. As the household welfare level increases, overweight/obesity increases in pre-school children. Female children are at higher risk of overweight/obesity than males. As birth order increases, overweight/obesity decreases. Children living in other regions have overweight/obesity problems more than the pre-school children living in the East. Conclusions This study speculates that obesity appears to be a major problem among pre-school children in Turkey. Based on the findings, the current situation of overweight/obesity among pre-school children is so close to many developing and developed countries, whose obesity levels are a greater concern. This finding demonstrates that effective interventions of obesity should begin as early as infancy in Turkey, as it is a developing country.

In recent years, due to frequent occurrence of public health emergencies, outbreaks of major infectious diseases represented by COVID-19have brought great harm to the lives and health of people. General hospitals are indispensable in disease prevention and control. The studyanalyzed a comprehensive evaluation method of epidemic prewarning and treatment for COVID‑19 in general hospitals through literature reviewand provided a reference for constructing urban public health prewarning and treatment system.
