What is already known about this topic?Approximately 80%of newly diagnosed human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)cases among individuals aged 15–24 years in China are attributed to out-ofschool youth.What is added by this report?This study presents findings on HIV prevalence and comprehensive insights into HIV service utilization,risky behaviors,and prevention knowledge among young out-of-school men who have sex with men(MSM)aged 16–24 years in China.This population exhibits a disproportionately high burden of HIV,with only 51.6%of HIV cases previously diagnosed.What are the implications for public health practice?HIV services should be expanded to include these key populations.Tailored interventions are needed to remove barriers to regular HIV services faced by young key populations.

Objective This study aimed to determine the current epidemiological status of PLWHA aged≥50 years in China from 2018 to 2021.It also aimed to recommend targeted interventions for the prevention and treatment of HIV/aids in elderly patients.Methods Data on newly reported cases of PLWHA,aged≥50 years in China from 2018 to 2021,were collected using the CRIMS.Trend tests and spatial analyses were also conducted.Results Between 2018 and 2021,237,724 HIV/aids cases were reported among patients aged≥50 years in China.The main transmission route was heterosexual transmission(91.24%).Commercial heterosexual transmission(CHC)was the primary mode of transmission among males,while non-marital non-CHC([NMNCHC];60.59%)was the prevalent route in women.The proportion of patients with CHC decreased over time(Z=67.716,Paids cases exhibited spatial clustering.Based on these results,the expansion of HIV testing,treatment,and integrated behavioral interventions in high-risk populations is recommended to enhance disease detection in key regions.

What is already known about this topic?The advent of antiretroviral therapy(ART)has markedly decreased mortality rates among patients infected with human immunodeficiency virus(HIV).Globally,there has been a 43%reduction in acquired immunodeficiency syndrome(aids)-related deaths from 2010 to 2022.Additionally,prior research indicates that the initiation of ART at an early stage within China has substantially lowered mortality rates.What is added by this report?Over the previous decade,following the implementation of China’s universal ART access strategy,the patterns of mortality causes among HIVinfected individuals across the country have undergone significant alterations.In 2022,the all-cause mortality rate among this population was reported at 2.7%,with the non-aids-related mortality rate at 1.8%.However,it is important to consider that the accuracy of death reporting could contribute to potential misclassification of the underlying causes of death.What are the implications for public health practice?Efforts to enhance health outcomes should persist in emphasizing the advancement of ART strategies,with a particular focus on mitigating non-aids-related mortality in the future.

Summary Hepatitis C virus(HCV)infection is a major public health problem in China.In 2016,the World Health Organization(WHO)proposed a goal to eliminate viral hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030,and in 2018,the National Health Commission of China launched Hepatitis C Elimination Action by 2030.Hepatitis C control and prevention has made significant progress in China in recent years.To implement the“Healthy China 2030”plan and the Healthy China Initiative(2019–2030),and to contribute to the global target of eliminating viral hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030,the National Health Commission of China and eight other government departments jointly issued the National Action Plan for Eliminating Hepatitis C as a Public Health Threat(2021–2030)(hereinafter referred to as the“National Plan”)in 2021.The National Plan has an overarching goal and 15 specific targets that cover health education,comprehensive prevention interventions,testing and treatment,and capacity building.The National Plan introduces key tasks and strategies of“five strengthenings,one expanding,and one implementation,”i.e.,strengthening health education,comprehensive prevention,referral and treatment,drug supply,and information management;expanding testing;and implementing relevant medical insurance policies.The National Plan also proposes key guaranteeing measures of“four intensifications and one mobilization,”i.e.,intensification of organizational leadership,capacity building,scientific research and international cooperation,and supervision and fulfillment;mobilization of social participation.The National Plan is an important component of the Healthy China initiative,adhering to the integration of treatment and prevention and deepening the“integration of medical treatment,medical insurance,and medicine supplies.”In this review,we describe the National Plan and discuss its challenges and prospects.

Comparative Analysis of Epidemiological Features of HIV/aids Cases Aged Over and Under 50 Years Old—China,2010-2022

Introduction:Recent data indicate a year-on-year increase in the proportion of human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome(HIV/aids)cases reported among individuals aged≥50 in China.This study compares the epidemiological characteristics of HIV/aids cases in populations above and below 50 years of age.By doing so,it seeks to scrutinize the current epidemiological landscape of HIV within these distinct age cohorts and suggest tailored interventions for each group.Methods:We utilized data from the Chinese HIV/aids Comprehensive Response Information Management System for our comparative analysis.Joinpoint regression analysis was employed to assess the trends in standardized detection rates.Results:In China,the number of newly reported HIV/aids cases in the 15-49 age group increased from 51,436 in 2010 to 55,397 in 2022,while it increased from 11,751 in 2010 to 51,856 in 2022 in the group aged≥50 years.Recent years have seen a greater proportion and detection rate of HIV/aids cases among the≥50 age demographic compared to the 15-49 age group.In 2022,significant statistical differences were observed between males and females in both age cohorts with respect to education,marital status,occupation,mode of transmission,location of diagnosis,and region.Conclusions:The observed trend of a rising proportion of HIV/aids cases in individuals aged 50 years and older necessitates heightened attention.It is imperative that we develop and implement interventions specifically designed to prevent and control the transmission of HIV within this demographic.

Summary What is already known on this topic?Men who have sex with men(MSM)in China have a high rate of human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)infection.Pre-exposure prophylaxis(PrEP)and postexposure prophylaxis(PEP)have been shown to be effective in preventing HIV,which may help to contain the HIV epidemic among MSM.What is added by this report?This study found that knowledge and usage of PrEP were low among MSM,indicating that this population is at high risk for HIV infection.Promotion of PrEP and PEP among MSM is necessary to reduce the risk of HIV infection in this population.What are the implications for public health practice?PrEP and PEP are novel HIV prevention strategies that have been demonstrated to be effective and safe.To further reduce HIV transmission among MSM in China,it is necessary to promote the use of PrEP and PEP.

Hepatitis B virus(HBV)infection results in liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).HBx/nuclear factor(NF)-κB pathway plays a role in HBV replication.However,whether NF-κB-interacting long noncoding RNA(NKILA),a suppressor of NF-κB activation,regulates HBV replication remains largely unknown.In this study,gain-and-loss experiments showed that NKILA inhibited HBV replication by inhibiting NF-κB activity.In turn,HBV infection down-regulated NKILA expression.In addition,expression levels of NKILA were lower in the peripheral blood-derived monocytes(PBMCs)of HBV-positive patients than in healthy individuals,which were correlated with HBV viral loads.And a negative correlation between NKILA expression level and HBV viral loads was observed in blood serum from HBV-positive patients.Lower levels of endogenous NKILA were also observed in HepG2 cells expressing a 1.3-fold HBV genome,HBV-infected HepG2-NTCP cells,stable HBV-producing HepG2.2.15 and HepAD38 cells,compared to those HBV-negative cells.Furthermore,HBx was required for NKILA-mediated inhibition on HBV replication.NKILA decreased HBx-induced NF-κB activation by interrupting the interaction between HBx and p65,whereas NKILA mutants lack of essential domains for NF-κB inhibition,lost the ability to inhibit HBV replication.Together,our data demonstrate that NKILA may serve as a suppressor of HBV replication via NF-κB signalling.
