Nomogram for overall survival in ampullary adenocarcinoma using the surveillance,epidemiology,and end results database and external validation

BACKGROUND Ampullary adenocarcinoma is a rare malignant tumor of the gastrointestinal ***,only a few cases have been reported,resulting in limited information on *** To develop a dynamic nomogram using internal and external validation to predict survival in patients with ampullary *** Data were sourced from the surveillance,epidemiology,and end results stat *** patients in the database were randomized in a 7:3 ratio into training and validation *** Cox regression univariate and multivariate analyses in the training group,we identified independent risk factors for overall survival and cancer-specific survival to develop the *** nomogram was validated with a cohort of patients from the First Affiliated Hospital of the Army Medical *** For overall and cancer-specific survival,12(sex,age,race,lymph node ratio,tumor size,chemotherapy,surgical modality,T stage,tumor differentiation,brain metastasis,lung metastasis,and extension)and 6(age;surveillance,epidemiology,and end results stage;lymph node ratio;chemotherapy;surgical modality;and tumor differentiation)independent risk factors,respectively,were incorporated into the *** area under the curve values at 1,3,and 5 years,respectively,were 0.807,0.842,and 0.826 for overall survival and 0.816,0.835,and 0.841 for cancer-specific *** internal and external validation cohorts indicated good consistency of the *** The dynamic nomogram offers robust predictive efficacy for the overall and cancer-specific survival of ampullary adenocarcinoma.

Spatio-temporal history of H9N2 viruses in Iran and neighbor countries by Bayesian analysis and molecular characterization

Objective: To delineate the H9N2 influenza virus circulation within Iran and its neighboring countries, the potential source of the epidemic in these countries, and its date of ***: We obtained all hemagglutinin(HA) and neuraminidase(NA) nucleotide sequences of influenza H9N2 available up to December 25, 2020 from Iran and its neighboring countries(i.e., Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Iraq). We also performed a Bayesian Markov chain Monte Carlo method to infer the evolutionary dynamic and the most recent common ancestor for the HA and NA ***: H9N2 epidemic may have started in Iran and Pakistan much earlier than the other investigated countries in the region, and an ongoing bidirectional dispersion of the virus between the investigated countries was also observed. The mean time of the most recent common ancestor of H9N2 viruses was 1988 for HA, and 1992 for ***: Strains from investigated countries rooted in Pakistan and Iran. Regular surveillance of H9N2 viruses, especially in the live bird markets, enhancing the biosecurity of poultry industry and screening newly arriving immigrants and tourists from neighboring countries at border should be considered to control spread of the virus. Furthermore, surveillance of viral molecular evolution should be initiated for effective prevention of epidemic and pandemic spreads.

Robust Backstepping Control of a Quadrotor Unmanned Aerial Vehicle under Colored Noises

Advances in software and hardware technologies have facilitated the production of quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs).Nowadays,people actively use quadrotor UAVs in essential missions such as search and rescue,counter-terrorism,firefighting,surveillance,and cargo *** performing these tasks,quadrotors must operate in noisy ***,a robust controller design that can control the altitude and attitude of the quadrotor in noisy environments is of great *** researchers have focused only on white Gaussian noise in their studies,whereas researchers need to consider the effects of all colored noises during the operation of the *** study aims to design a robust controller that is resistant to all colored ***,a nonlinear quadrotormodel was created with ***,a backstepping controller resistant to colored noises was *** backstepping controller was tested under Gaussian white,pink,brown,blue,and purple *** and Lyapunov-based controller designswere also carried out,and their time responses(rise time,overshoot,settling time)were compared with those of the backstepping *** the simulations,time was in seconds,altitude was in meters,and roll,pitch,and yaw references were in *** and settling time values were in seconds,and overshoot value was in *** the obtained values are examined,simulations prove that the proposed backstepping controller has the least overshoot and the shortest settling time under all noise types.

Tuberculosis in the mines of Zambia:A case for intervention

Zambia is among the sub-Saharan countries highly burdened with tuberculosis(TB) and has an estimated prevalence rate of 638 per 100 000 population in those aged 15 years and *** mining industry is the main contributor to the country's gross national product,although it is associated with public health challenges,with TB in the mines being among the occupational health diseases having a negative economic impact and threatening to delay the control of TB in the *** reviewed available evidence on the extent of the burden of TB in the mines so as to inform the development of targeted interventions for the post-2015 End TB *** was a review of published data from Medline/Pubmed,Cochrane Library and Embase,including unpublished "grey"literature on the burden of TB and the risk factors of TB in the mines of *** is limited research in Zambia to fully understand the burden of TB and risk factors associated with TB in the ***,the few studies and data available have shown that TB is a significant health problem requiring interventions to improve the quality of life of miners,ex-miners and surrounding *** is a potential problem in the mines of Zambia and the actual burden needs to be *** to silica as a risk factor needs further investigation.

Social network analysis and modeling of cellphone-based syndromic surveillance data for ebola in Sierra Leone

Objective:To explore and visualize the connectivity of suspected Ebola cases and surveillance callers who used cellphone technology in Moyamba District in Sierra Leone for Ebola surveillance,and to examine the demographic differences and characteristics of Ebola surveillance callers who make more calls as well as those callers who are more likely to make at least one positive Ebola ***:surveillance data for 393 suspected Ebola cases(192 males,201 females) were collected from October 23,2014 to June 28,2015 using cellphone *** and Net Draw software were used to explore and visualize the social connectivity between callers and suspected Ebola *** and logistic regression analyses were used to do multivariable ***:The entire social network was comprised of 393 ties and 745 ***(AOR=0.33,95% CI [0.14,0.81]) were associated with decreased odds of making at least one positive Ebola surveillance call compared to ***(IR= 0.63,95% CI [0.49,0.82]) were also associated with making fewer Ebola surveillance calls compared to ***:Social network visualization can analyze syndromic surveillance data for Ebola collected by cellphone technology with unique insights.

A compartmental model to investigate the dynamics of the COVID-19 pandemic:A case study in five countries

Coronavirus Disease 2019(COVID-19),caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)infections,was declared a pandemic by the WHO on March 12,*** April 10,2020,it has spread to almost 215 UN Territories,affected more than 1,600,000 people,and become fatal to more than 100,000 *** propose a compartmental model to investigate the dynamics of the COVID-19 pandemic and analyze the effects of governments and health officials’intervention strategies,using data in the USA,Italy,Spain,Germany,and *** are the countries with the most confirmed cases of the COVID-19 as of April 11,*** perform parameter estimations,sensitivity,and predictive analysis and compare the COVID-19 trend in these understudy *** on the model,we compute the basic reproduction number of the pandemic in these *** results indicate that the most sensitive parameters are the contact rate and degree of intervention;these parameters have high value in containing the *** basic reproduction number in each of the countries under study is more than *** on our findings,the COVID-19 pandemic will continue to spread;but higher compliance with the intervention strategies will help minimize the disease’s spread.

Effectiveness and safety of Shenmai injection in treatment of shock:a Meta-analysis

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Shenmai injection for ***: Randomized controlled trials(RCTs)that evaluated the therapeutic effect of Shenmai injection on shock(including septic shock, cardiogenic shock, hypovolemic shock, neurogenic shock and anaphylactic shock) were included in this analysis. The major electronic databases were searched until May 2015. The methodological quality of the trials was assessed according to the Cochrane Handbook. Review Manager 5.3 and Stata 12.0 software were applied for data ***: Thirty RCTs involving 2038 participants were included. The methodological quality of the trials was generally passable. The combined use of Shenmai injection and conventional medicine was significantly more effective at managing shock compared to conventional medicine alone in the outcomes of total effective rate [risk ratio(RR 1.25,95% confidence interval(CI) 1.18 to 1.31] and mortality rate [risk difference(RD)-0.10, 95% CI-0.17 to-0.02]. Likewise, improvements were observed in other metrics. Three trials reported adverse events, but no trial reported serious adverse ***: Our results indicated the potential effectiveness of Shenmai injection combined with conventional medicine treatment for shock. However, further rigorously designed trials are needed to collect and weigh up all the evidence for the use of Shenmai injection.
