Neuropeptide cholecystokinin:a key neuromodulator for hippocampal functions

Spatial memory is crucial for survival within external surroundings and wild *** hippocampus,a critical hub for spatial learning and memory formation,has received extensive investigations on how neuromodulators shape its functions(Teixeira et al.,2018;Zhang et al.,2024).However,the landscape of neuromodulations in the hippocampal system remains poorly understood because most studies focus on classical monoamine neuromodulators,such as acetylcholine,serotonin,dopamine,and *** neuropeptides,comprising the most abundant neuromodulators in the central nervous system,play a pivotal role in neural information processing in the hippocampal ***(CCK),one of the most abundant neuropeptides,has been implicated in regulating various physiological and neurobiological statuses(Chen et al.,2019).CCK-A receptor(CCK-AR)and CCK-B receptors(CCK-BR)are two key receptors mediating the biological functions of CCK,both of which belong to class-A sevenfold transmembrane G protein-coupled receptors(Nishimura et al.,2015).CCK-AR preferentially reacts to sulfated CCK,whereas CCK-BR binds both CCK and gastrin with similar affinities(Ding et al.,2022).The expression patterns of CCK-AR and CCK-BR are distinct,implying that CCK has various functions in target *** instance,CCK-AR is widely expressed in the GI and brain subregions and is hence implicated in the control of digestive function and satiety ***,CCK-BR is abundantly and widely distributed in the central nervous system,which majorly regulates anxiety,learning,and memory(Ding et al.,2022).However,the roles of endogenous CCK and CCK receptors in regulating hippocampal function at electrophysiological and behavioral levels have received less attention.

Efficient photocatalytic reduction of CO2 to formate by a molecular noble metal-free system

Reducing CO2to carbon-neutral solar fuels can not only alleviate the energy demand but also mitigate the greenhouse *** present,developing an efficient non-noble metal photo/electrocatalytic system for converting CO2to a specific product beyond CO is still a big ***,we report a new cobalt complex bearing 2,2′-bi-1,10-phenanthroline ligand that can photocatalytically reduce CO2to formate （HCOO-）.Turnover number （TON） for HCOO-up to 677 with 99%selectivity can be achieved using organic dyes purpurin as photosensitizer and 1,3-dimethyl-2-phenyl-2,3-dihydro-1H-benzo[d]imidazole （BIH） as sacrificial reductant in a CO2-saturated NMP/TEA （v/v,3:1） solution under visible light *** potential electrolysis at-1.41 V （***/Ag Cl） in the presence of 12 m M Et3NHBF4also produced HCOO-with Faradaic efficiency of 39%.Spectroscopic and electrochemical studies suggest that a[CoI-H]species is the key intermediate for CO2reduction.

Low-Temperature Processed Carbon Electrode-Based Inorganic Perovskite Solar Cells with Enhanced Photovoltaic Performance and Stability

All-inorganic perovskite solar cells(PVSCs)have drawn widespread attention for its superior thermal ***-based devices are promising to demonstrate excellent long-term operational stability due to the hydrophobicity of carbon materials and the abandon of organic holetransporting materials(HTMs).However,the difficulty to control the crystallinity process and the poor morphology leads to serious non-radiative recombination,resulting in low V_(OC)and power conversion efficiency(PCE).In this article,the crystal formation process of all-inorganic perovskites is controlled with a facile composition engineering *** bromide incorporation,high-quality perovskite films with large grain and fewer grain boundaries are ***-prepared perovskite films demonstrate longer carrier lifetime,contributing to lower energy loss and better device *** carbon-based HTM-free PVSCs with CsPbI_(2.33)Br_(0.67) perovskite realized champion PCE of 12.40%,superior to 8.80%of CsPbI_(3)-based devices,which is one of the highest efficiencies reported for the carbon-based all-inorganic PVSCs to *** high V_(OC) of 1.01 V and FF of 70.98% indicate the significance of this composition engineering ***,fabricated carbon-based devices exhibit excellent stability,and unencapsulated device retains over 90%of its initial efficiency under continuous one sun illumination for 250 h in N_(2) atmosphere and keeps~84%of its original value after stored in ambient environment with RH 15–20% for 200 *** work provides a facile way to fabricate high-performance and stable carbon-based all-inorganic PVSCs.

Two-dimensional material-based virus detection

Cost-effective, rapid, and accurate virus detection technologies play key roles in reducing viral transmission. Prompt and accurate virus detection enables timely treatment and effective quarantine of virus carrier, and therefore effectively reduces the possibility of large-scale spread. However, conventional virus detection techniques often suffer from slow response, high cost or sophisticated procedures. Recently, two-dimensional(2D) materials have been used as promising sensing platforms for the highperformance detection of a variety of chemical and biological substances. The unique properties of 2D materials, such as large specific area, active surface interaction with biomolecules and facile surface functionalization, provide advantages in developing novel virus detection technologies with fast response and high sensitivity. Furthermore, 2D materials possess versatile and tunable electronic, electrochemical and optical properties, making them ideal platforms to demonstrate conceptual sensing techniques and explore complex sensing mechanisms in next-generation biosensors. In this review, we first briefly summarize the virus detection techniques with an emphasis on the current efforts in fighting again COVID-19. Then, we introduce the preparation methods and properties of 2D materials utilized in biosensors, including graphene, transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs) and other 2D materials. Furthermore, we discuss the working principles of various virus detection technologies based on emerging 2D materials, such as field-effect transistor-based virus detection, electrochemical virus detection, optical virus detection and other virus detection techniques. Then, we elaborate on the essential works in 2D material-based high-performance virus detection. Finally, our perspective on the challenges and future research direction in this field is discussed.

The application of thermoelectric devices(TEDs)for personalized thermoregulation is attractive for saving energy while balancing the quality of *** that directly attach to human skin remarkably minimized the energy wasted for cooling the entire ***,facing the extreme dynamic geometry change and strain of human skin,conventional TEDs cannot align with the contour of our bodies for the best thermoregulation ***,we designed a kirigami-based wearable TED with excellent water vapor permeability,flexibility,and *** analysis and experimental results reveal that our product can withstand various types of large mechanical deformation without circuit *** stated outcome and proposed facile approach not only reinforce the development of wearable TEDs but also offer an innovative opportunity for different electronics that require high conformability.

Quantization and Event-Triggered Policy Design for Encrypted Networked Control

This paper proposes a novel event-driven encrypted control framework for linear networked control systems(NCSs),which relies on two modified uniform quantization policies,the Paillier cryptosystem,and an event-triggered *** to the fact that only integers can work in the Pailler cryptosystem,both the real-valued control gain and system state need to be first quantized before *** is dramatically different from the existing quantized control methods,where only the quantization of a single value,e.g.,the control input or the system state,is *** handle this issue,static and dynamic quantization policies are presented,which achieve the desired integer conversions and guarantee asymptotic convergence of the quantized system state to the ***,the quantized system state is encrypted and sent to the controller when the triggering condition,specified by a state-based event-triggered strategy,is *** doing so,not only the security and confidentiality of data transmitted over the communication network are protected,but also the ciphertext expansion phenomenon can be ***,by tactfully designing the quantization sensitivities and triggering error,the proposed event-driven encrypted control framework ensures the asymptotic stability of the overall closedloop ***,a simulation example of the secure motion control for an inverted pendulum cart system is presented to evaluate the effectiveness of the theoretical results.

Influence of temperature and alloying elements on the threshold displacement energies in concentrated Ni-Fe-Cr alloys

Concentrated solid-solution alloys(CSAs)have demonstrated promising irradiation resistance depending on their *** irradiation,various defects can be *** of the most important parameters characterizing the defect production and the resulting defect number is the threshold displacement energies(Ed).In this work,we report the results of Ed values in a series of Ni-Fe-Cr concentrated solid solution alloys through molecular dynamics(MD)*** on several different empirical potentials,we show that the differences in the Ed values and its angular dependence are mainly due to the stiffness of the potential in the intermediate *** influences of different alloying elements and temperatures on Ed values in different CSAs are further evaluated by calculating the defect production *** results suggest a limited influence of alloying elements and temperature on Ed values in concentrated ***,we discuss the relationship between the primary damage and Ed values in different ***,this work presents a thorough study on the Ed values in concentrated alloys,including the influence of empirical potentials,their angular dependence,temperature dependence,and effects on primary defect production.

MODELING PHOTONIC CRYSTALS WITH COMPLEX UNIT CELLS BY DIRICHLET-TO-NEUMANN MAPS

For a photonic crystal （PhC） of finite size, it is important to calculate its transmission and reflection spectra. For two-dimensional （2-D） PhCs composed of a square lattice of circular cylinders, the problem can be solved by an efficient method based on the Dirichlet-to-Neumann （DtN） map of the unit cell and a marching scheme using a pair of operators. In this paper, the DtN operator marching method is extended to handle 2-D PhCs with complex unit cells and arbitrary lattice structures.

Defect properties in a VTaCrW equiatomic high entropy alloy(HEA)with the body centered cubic(bcc)structure

We report first-principles results of the point defect properties in a V-Ta-Cr-W high-entropy alloy(HEA)with the body-centered cubic(bcc)*** from the widely-investigated face-centered cubic(fcc)HEAs,the local lattice distortion is more pronounced in bcc ones,which has a strong influence on the defect properties and defect evolution under *** to the large size of Ta,the exchange between vacancies and Ta exhibits lower energy *** the other hand,interstitial dumbbells containing V and Cr possess lower formation *** defect energetics predicts an enrichment of V and Cr and a depletion of Ta andWin the vicinity of defect ***,we find that interstitial dumbbells favor the[110]orientation in the HEA,instead of[111]direction in most nonmagnetic bcc metals,which helps to slow down interstitial diffusion ***,the distribution of migration energies for vacancies and interstitials exhibit much larger overlap regions in the bcc HEA compared to fcc HEAs,leading to the good irradiation resistance by enhancing defect *** results suggest that HEAs with the bcc structure may bear excellent irradiation tolerance due to the particular defect properties.
