Federated Learning’s Role in Next-Gen TV Ad Optimization

In the rapidly evolving landscape of television advertising,optimizing ad schedules to maximize viewer engagement and revenue has become *** methods often operate in silos,limiting the potential insights gained from broader data analysis due to concerns over privacy and data *** article introduces a novel approach that leverages Federated Learning(FL)to enhance TV ad schedule optimization,combining the strengths of local optimization techniques with the power of global Machine Learning(ML)models to uncover actionable insights without compromising data *** combines linear programming for initial ads scheduling optimization with ML—specifically,a K-Nearest Neighbors(KNN)model—for predicting ad spot *** into account the diversity and the difficulty of the ad-scheduling problem,we propose a prescriptivepredictive approach in which first the position of the ads is optimized(using Google’s OR-Tools CP-SAT)and then the scheduled position of all ads will be the result of the optimization ***,this output becomes the target of a predictive task that predicts the position of new entries based on their characteristics ensuring the implementation of the scheduling at large scale(using KNN,Light Gradient Boosting Machine and Random Forest).Furthermore,we explore the integration of FL to enhance predictive accuracy and strategic insight across different broadcasting networks while preserving data *** FL approach resulted in 8750 ads being precisely matched to their optimal category placements,showcasing an alignment with the intended diversity ***,there was a minimal deviation observed,with 1133 ads positioned within a one-category variance from their ideal placement in the original dataset.

This review aims to analyze the development and impact of Artificial Intelligence(AI)in the context of Saudi Arabia’s public healthcare system to fulfill Vision 2030 *** is extensively devoted to AI technology deployment relevant to disease management,healthcare delivery,epidemiology,and ***,its AI is culturally sensitive and ethically grounded in *** on the PRISMA framework,an SLR evaluated primary academic literature,cases,and practices of Saudi Arabia’s AI implementation in the public healthcare ***,it categorizes prior research based on how AI can work,the issues it poses,and its implications for the Kingdom’s healthcare *** Saudi Arabian context analyses show that AI has increased the discreet prediction of diseases,resource management,and monitoring outbreaks during mass congregations such as ***,the study outlines critical areas for defining the potential for artificial intelligence and areas for enhancing digital development to support global healthcare *** key themes emerging from the review include Saudi Arabia:(i)the effectiveness of AI with human interaction for sustainable health services;(ii)conditions and quality control to enhance the quality of health care services using AI;(iii)environmental factors as influencing factors for public health care;(iv)Artificial Intelligence,and advanced decision-making technology for Middle Eastern health care *** policymakers,healthcare managers,and researchers who will engage with AI innovation,the review proclaims that AI applications should respect the country’s socio-cultural and ethical practices and pave the way for sustainable healthcare *** empirical research is needed on the implementation issues with AI,creating culturally appropriate models of AI,and finding new applications of AI to address the increasing demand for healthcare services in Saudi Arabia.

Enhancing Classification Algorithm Recommendation in Automated Machine Learning: A Meta-Learning Approach Using Multivariate Sparse Group Lasso

The rapid growth of machine learning(ML)across fields has intensified the challenge of selecting the right algorithm for specific tasks,known as the Algorithm Selection Problem(ASP).Traditional trial-and-error methods have become impractical due to their resource *** Machine Learning(AutoML)systems automate this process,but often neglect the group structures and sparsity in meta-features,leading to inefficiencies in algorithm recommendations for classification *** paper proposes a meta-learning approach using Multivariate Sparse Group Lasso(MSGL)to address these *** method models both within-group and across-group sparsity among meta-features to manage high-dimensional data and reduce multicollinearity across eight meta-feature *** Fast Iterative Shrinkage-Thresholding Algorithm(FISTA)with adaptive restart efficiently solves the non-smooth optimization *** validation on 145 classification datasets with 17 classification algorithms shows that our meta-learning method outperforms four state-of-the-art approaches,achieving 77.18%classification accuracy,86.07%recommendation accuracy and 88.83%normalized discounted cumulative gain.

Power synchronization: taming massive diversified serverless functions under power constraints

Carbon neutrality has become an important design objective worldwide. However, the on-going shift to cloud-naive era does not necessarily mean energy efficiency. From the perspective of power management, co-hosted serverless functions are difficult to tame. They are lightweight, short-lived applications sensitive to power capping activities. In addition, they exhibit great individual and temporal variability, presenting idiosyncratic performance/power scaling goals that are often at odds with one another. To date, very few proposals exist in terms of tailored power management for serverless platforms. In this work, we introduce power synchronization, a novel yet generic mechanism for managing serverless functions in a power-efficient way. Our insight with power synchronization is that uniform application power behavior enables consistent and uncompromised function operation on shared host machines. We also propose PowerSync, a synchronization-based power management framework that ensures optimal efficiency based on a clear understanding of functions. Our evaluation shows that PowerSync can improve the energy efficiency of functions by up to 16% without performance loss compared to conventional power management strategies.

A Two-Pronged Approach to Security of Discrete-Event systems

This paper investigates a security problem of simultaneously addressing two types of attacks: Eavesdropping and infiltration. The authors model the target system as a discrete-event system(DES) with subsets of concealable events and protectable events, in order to make the proposed methodology applicable to various practical systems and employ two existing works of DES security: Degree of opacity and state protection. Specifically, the authors consider that all protectable events are observable, and some observable events are concealable. In addition, protectable events cannot be protected once they are concealed. Given such a constraint, the goal is to figure out which events to conceal and which transitions to protect so that the prescribed requirements of degree of opacity and state protection are satisfied. In this work the authors decide which events to conceal as all transitions of a given event label are concealed or not concealed. The proposed problem formulation also requires a solution to only involve absolutely necessary protectable events in order for the system to avoid superfluous protection costs. The authors first examine a general version of our security problem with an intuitive algorithm to compute acceptable solutions, and then present a special version which results in a reduced computation time compared to the general version.

Due to scale effects, micromechanical resonators offer an excellent platform for investigating the intrinsic mechanisms of nonlinear dynamical phenomena and their potential applications. This review focuses on mode-coupled micromechanical resonators,highlighting the latest advancements in four key areas: internal resonance, synchronization, frequency combs, and mode localization. The origin, development, and potential applications of each of these dynamic phenomena within mode-coupled micromechanical systems are investigated, with the goal of inspiring new ideas and directions for researchers in this field.

Assessing the vulnerability of wintering habitats for the red-listed Asian Houbara(Chlamydotis macqueenii)using climate models and human impact assessments

The Asian Houbara(Chlamydotis macqueenii),a vulnerable species,is under significant threat from habitat degradation and anthropogenic pressures in Pakistan's arid *** study addresses the urgent need for conservation by identifying critical habitats,analyzing the influence of environmental and human factors on species distribution,and projecting future habitat shifts under climate change *** the Max Ent model,which achieves a robust predictive accuracy(AUC=0.854),we mapped current and future habitat suitability under Shared Socioeconomic Pathways(SSP126,SSP370,SSP585)for the years 2040 and ***,the suitable habitat extends over 217,082 km^(2),with 52,751 km^(2) classified as highly *** environmental drivers,identified via the Jackknife test,revealed that annual mean temperature(Bio1)and slope play a dominant role in determining habitat *** show significant habitat degradation;however,under SSP585,highly suitable areas are expected to expand by up to 24.92%by *** this increase,vast areas remain unsuitable,posing serious risks to population ***,only 2115 km^(2) of highly suitable habitat currently falls within protected zones,highlighting a critical conservation *** findings highlight the imperative for immediate,targeted conservation efforts to secure the species'future in Pakistan's desert ecosystems.

A Review of Human Vulnerabilities in Cyber Security: Challenges and Solutions for Microfinance Institutions

This review examines human vulnerabilities in cybersecurity within Microfinance Institutions, analyzing their impact on organizational resilience. Focusing on social engineering, inadequate security training, and weak internal protocols, the study identifies key vulnerabilities exacerbating cyber threats to MFIs. A literature review using databases like IEEE Xplore and Google Scholar focused on studies from 2019 to 2023 addressing human factors in cybersecurity specific to MFIs. Analysis of 57 studies reveals that phishing and insider threats are predominant, with a 20% annual increase in phishing attempts. Employee susceptibility to these attacks is heightened by insufficient training, with entry-level employees showing the highest vulnerability rates. Further, only 35% of MFIs offer regular cybersecurity training, significantly impacting incident reduction. This paper recommends enhanced training frequency, robust internal controls, and a cybersecurity-aware culture to mitigate human-induced cyber risks in MFIs.
