In early December 2019,the city of Wuhan,China,reported an outbreak of coronavirus disease(COVID-19),caused by a novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2(SARS-CoV-2).On January 30,2020,the World Health Organization(WHO)declared the outbreak a global pandemic *** the face of the COVID-19 pandemic,the most important step has been the effective diagnosis and monitoring of infected *** COVID-19 using Machine Learning(ML)technologies can help the health care unit through assistive diagnostic suggestions,which can reduce the health unit's burden to a certain *** paper investigates the possibilities of ML techniques in identifying/detecting COVID-19 patients including both conventional and exploring from chest X-ray images the effect of viral *** approach includes preprocessing,feature extraction,and ***,the features are extracted using the Histogram of Oriented(HOG)and Local Binary Pattern(LBP)feature ***,for the extracted features classification,six ML models of Support Vector Machine(SVM)and K-Nearest Neighbor(KNN)is *** results show that the diagnostic accuracy of random forest classifier(RFC)on extracted HOG plusLBP features is as high as 94%followed by SVM at 93%.The sensitivity of the K-nearest neighbour model has reached an accuracy of 88%.Overall,the predicted approach has shown higher classification accuracy and effective diagnostic *** is a highly useful tool for clinical practitioners and radiologists to help them in diagnosing and tracking the cases of COVID-19.

Estimation of leaf area index from high resolution ZY-3 satellite imagery in a catchment dominated by Larix principis-rupprechtii,northern China

Leaf area index(LAI) is a key factor that determines a forest ecosystem's net primary production and energy exchange between the atmosphere and land *** can be measured in many ways, but there has been little research to compare LAI estimated by different methods. In this study, we compared the LAI results from two different approaches, i.e., the dimidiate pixel model(DPM) and an empirical statistic model(ESM) using ZY-3 high-accuracy satellite images validated by field data. We explored the relationship of LAI of Larix principis-rupprechtii Mayr plantations with topographic conditions. The results show that DPM improves the simulation of LAI(r = 0.86,RMSE = 0.57) compared with ESM(r = 0.62, RMSE =0.79). We further concluded that elevation and slope significantly affect the distribution of LAI. The maximum peak of LAI appeared at an aspect of east and southeast at an elevation of 1700–2000 m. Our results suggest that ZY-3 can satisfy the needs of quantitative monitoring of leaf area indices in small-scale catchment areas. DPM provides a simple and accurate method to obtain forest vegetation parameters in the case of non-ground measurement points.

Classical-quantum correspondence has been an intriguing issue ever since quantum theory was proposed. The search- ing for signatures of classically nonintegrable dynamics in quantum systems comprises the interesting field of quantum chaos. In this short review, we shall go over recent efforts of extending the understanding of quantum chaos to relativistic cases. We shall focus on the level spacing statistics for two-dimensional massless Dirac billiards, i.e., particles confined in a closed region. We shall discuss the works for both the particle described by the massless Dirac equation （or Weyl equation） and the quasiparticle from graphene. Although the equations are the same, the boundary conditions are typically different, rendering distinct level spacing statistics.

Vehicular Beacon Broadcast Scheduling Based on Age of Information(AoI)

Vehicular beaconing plays an important role to facilitate various applications in the paradigm of Internet of Vehicles(IoV). Due to high dynamic and resource limitation in IoV, how to schedule the vehicular beacon broadcast is challenging, especially in dense scenarios. In this paper, we investigate the beacon broadcast scheduling problem considering the Age of Information(AoI). We first propose an algorithm minimizing the expected sum of AoI considering the limited communication resource and vehicle mobility. Then the performance of the proposed algorithm is analyzed. With the proposed algorithm, the optimal solution can be obtained under certain conditions. Extensive simulations are conducted to verify the efficiency, effectiveness and fairness of the proposed solution.

Numerical simulation of thermal convection of viscoelastic fluids in an open-top porous medium with constant heat flux

This paper makes a numerical study of the buoyancy-driven convection of a viscoelastic fluid saturated in an open-top porous square box under the constant heat flux boundary condition. The effects of the relaxation and retardation times on the onset of the oscillatory convection, the convection heat transfer rate and the flow pattern transition are investigated. It is shown that a large relaxation time can destabilize the fluid flow leading to an early onset of the thermal convection and a high heat transfer rate, while a large retardation time tends to stabilize the flow and suppress the convection onset and the heat transfer. After the convection sets in, the flow bifurcation appears earlier with the increase of the relaxation time and the decrease of the retardation time, resulting in more complicated flow patterns in the porous medium. Furthermore, with the increase of the ratio of the relaxation time to the retardation time, the fluid may be blocked from flowing through the open-top boundary, which may be caused by the viscoelastic effect. Finally, the comparison of our results with those under isothermal heating boundary conditions reveals that the heat transfer rate correspo- nding to a constant heat flux boundary is always higher.

Modified Cuckoo Search Algorithm to Solve Economic Power Dispatch Optimization Problems

A modified cuckoo search(CS) algorithm is proposed to solve economic dispatch(ED) problems that have nonconvex, non-continuous or non-linear solution spaces considering valve-point effects, prohibited operating zones, transmission losses and ramp rate limits. Comparing with the traditional cuckoo search algorithm, we propose a self-adaptive step size and some neighbor-study strategies to enhance search ***, an improved lambda iteration strategy is used to generate new solutions. To show the superiority of the proposed algorithm over several classic algorithms, four systems with different benchmarks are tested. The results show its efficiency to solve economic dispatch problems, especially for large-scale systems.
