Retrieval algorithm of sea surface wind vectors for WindSat based on a simple forward model

WindSat/Coriolis is the first satellite-borne polarimetric microwave radiometer, which aims to improve the potential of polarimetric microwave radiometry for measuring sea surface wind vectors from space. In this paper, a wind vector retrieval algorithm based on a novel and simple forward model was developed for WindSat. The retrieval algorithm of sea surface wind speed was developed using multiple linear regression based on the simulation dataset of the novel forward model. Sea surface wind directions that minimize the difference between simulated and measured values of the third and fourth Stokes parameters were found using maximum likelihood estimation, by which a group of ambiguous wind directions was obtained. A median filter was then used to remove ambiguity of wind direction. Evaluated with sea surface wind speed and direction data from the U.S. National Data Buoy Center （NDBC）, root mean square errors are 1.2 rn/s and 30~ for retrieved wind speed and wind direction, respectively. The evaluation results suggest that the simple forward model and the retrieval algorithm are practicable for near-real time applications, without reducing accuracy.

We propose a robust scheme to achieve the synchronization of chaotic systems with modeling mismatches and parametric variations. The proposed algorithm combines high-order sliding mode and feedback control. The sliding mode is used to estimate the synchronization error between the master and the slave as well as its time derivatives, while feedback control is used to drive the slave track the master. The stability of the proposed design is proved theoretically, and its performance is verified by some numerical simulations. Compared with some existing synchronization algorithms, the proposed algorithm shows faster convergence and stronger robustness to system uncertainties.

Conjugated ployfluorene with 2-（2-（2-methoxyethoxy）ethoxy）ethyl groups （EO-PF） is prepared by the palladium- catalyzed Suzuki coupling reaction. The polymer is purified carefully by a simple chemical procedure. The inductively coupled plasma （ICP） test shows palladium-catalyst in the polymer can be removed by this procedure. The thermal properties, electrochemical properties, UV-Vis absorption properties, photoluminescence properties and electroluminescent properties of the polymer without （EO-PF1） or with purification （EO-PF2） are studied. EO-PF2 shows better PL CIE coordinates in THF solutions as blue light-emitting materials and better photoluminescence stability in thin solid films. Polymer light emitting diodes and electrochemical cells based on EO-PF2 exhibit somewhat improved optoelectronic performance than control devices of EO-PF 1.

Influence of typhoon MITAG on the Kuroshio intrusion in the Luzon Strait during early fall 2019

Typhoons in the western Pacific have a significant impact on the transport of heat,salt and particles through the Luzon ***,there are very limited field observations of this impact because of extreme difficulties and even dangers for ship-based measurements during the rough ***,we present the preliminary results from analyzing a dataset collected by a glider deployed west of the Luzon Strait a few days prior to the arrival of typhoon *** gilder data revealed an abnormally salinity(>34.8)subsurface water apparently sourced from Kuroshio intrusion during the *** typhoon MITAG traveled on the east of the Luzon Strait,the positive wind stress curl strengthened the cyclonic eddy and weakened the anti-cyclonic *** led to a slowdown of Kuroshio and made its intrusion *** main axis of the Kuroshio at the northern part of the strait shifted westward after the typhoon and did not return to its original position until a week *** Ekman transport from persistent northerly wind of typhoon MITAG was significant,but its importance in enhancing the Kuroshio intrusion is only secondary relative to the eddies variations.

We propose a scheme of quantum screening to enhance the parameter-estimation precision in open quantum systems by means of the dynamics of quantum Fisher information. The principle of quantum screening is based on an auxiliary system to inhibit the decoherence processes and erase the excited state to the ground state. By comparing the case without quantum screening, the results show that the dynamics of quantum Fisher information with quantum screening has a larger value during the evolution processes.

Nb_(2)O_(5)nanoparticles with an average particle size of 10 nm supported on a rhombic dodecahedral metal organic framework(MOF)were successfully synthesized by a facile one-pot hydrothermal reaction and subsequent calcination *** results demonstrated that the prepared catalyst drastically improved the hydrogen storage behavior of MgH_(2).7 wt%Nb_(2)O_(5)@MOF doped MgH_(2)started to desorb hydrogen at 181.9℃and 6.2 wt%hydrogen could be released within 2.6 min and 6.3 min at 275℃and 250℃,*** fully dehydrogenated composite also displayed excellent hydrogenation by decreasing the onset absorption temperature to 25℃and taking up4.9 wt%and 6.5 wt%hydrogen within 6 min at 1750C and 1500C,***,the corresponding activation energy was calculated to be 75.57±4.16 kJ mol^(-1)for desorption reaction and 51.38±1.09 kJ mol^(-1)for absorption *** 20 cycles,0.5 wt%hydrogen capacity was lost for the MgH_(2)+7 wt%Nb_(2)O_(5)@MOF composite,much lower than 1.5 wt%of the MgH_(2)+7 wt%Nb_(2)O_(5)***,the addition of Nb_(2)O_(5)@MOF had limited effect on reducing the dehydrogenation enthalpy of MgH_(2).Microstructure analysis revealed that Nb_(2)O_(5)particles were uniformly distributed on surface of the MgH_(2)matrix and synergistically improved the hydrogen storage property of MgH_(2)with MOF.

Two new coordination polymers [Cd（EBLA）（ip）（H2O）] （1） and [Ni（EBSA）（im）2（H2O）], （2） were synthesized by hydrothermal and solution methods using 2,2＇-dithio- salicylicacid （EBSA）, lH-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline （ip）, imidazole （im）, Cd（NO3）2-4H2O and Ni（NOa）z＇6H20. The complexes were characterized by elemental analysis and FT-IR. Meanwhile, the crystal structures, fluorescence properties of complex 1 and thermogravimetrie analysis of complex 2 have been studied. In complex 1, 2,2＇-dicarboxydiphenylthioether （EBLA） was prepared with 2,2＇-dithiosalicylicacid （EBSA） in situ reaction by hydrothermal method. Complex 1 is a dinuclear structure and Cd2＋ is five-coordinated in a distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometry. Complex 2 is a one-dimensional infinite linear chain and Ni2＋ is six-coordinated to form a distorted octahedral geometry. Hydrogen bonding and π-π interactions are observed in these complexes.
