Dynamic stress concentration in an infinitely long cylindrical cavity due to a point spherical source embedded within a fluid-saturated poroelastic formation of infinite extent

The effects of a harmonically exciting monopole source on an infinitely long cylindrical cavity embedded entirely within a fluid-saturated poroelastic formation of infinite extent are examined theoretically. It is assumed that the source is located outside the cavity at a specified distance from the borehole axis. The magnitudes of the hoop and radial stresses beside the pore pressures exerted on the interface and inside the porous medium surrounding the borehole are calculated and discussed. Biot's poroelastic modeling along with three types of boundary conditions for the cylindrical interface including the ideal fluid, empty borehole, and rigid inclusion with a hard boundary is employed for the analysis. Utilizing a proper translational addition theorem for expressing the incident spherical wave in terms of cylindrical wave expansions, the proposed boundary conditions at the interface are satisfied. Stresses are formulated by means of wave potential functions in a three-dimensional(3D) manner. The effects of the frequency and the radial distance between the source and borehole on the induced stresses are examined for the first cylindrical modes over frequency spectra. Two permeability conditions for the interface and three types of soils for the porous formation are considered throughout the analysis. To give an overall outline of the study, a numerical example is presented. The results clearly indicate that the distance is a key parameter and has considerable effects on the induced stress values. In addition, the interface permeability condition and soil characteristics play an important role in determining the dynamic response of the borehole. Finally,the obtained results are compared with the relevant analyses existing in the literature for some limit cases, and good agreement is achieved.

Transition metal sulfides have great potential as anode mterials for sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)due to their high theoretical specific ***,the inferior intrinsic conductivity and large volume variation during sodiation-desodiation processes seriously affect its high-rate and long-cyde performance,unbeneficial for the application as fast-charging and long-cycling SIBs ***,the three-dimensional porous Cu_(1.81)S/nitrogen-doped carbon frameworks(Cu_(1.81)S/NC)are synthesized by the simple and facile sol-gel and annealing processes,which can accommodate the volumetric expansion of Cu_(1.81)S nanoparticles and accelerate the transmission of ions and electrons during Na^(+)insertion/extraction processes,exhibiting the excellent rate capability(250.6 mA·g^(-1)at 20.0 A·g^(-1))and outstanding cycling stability(70% capacity retention for 6000 cycles at 10.0 A·g^(-1))for ***,the Na-ion full cells coupled with Na_(3)V_(2)(PO_(4))_(3)/C cathode also demonstrate the satisfactory reversible specific capacity of 330.5 mAh·g^(-1)at 5.0 A·g^(-1)and long-cycle performance with the 86.9% capacity retention at 2.0 A·g^(-1)after 750 *** work proposes a promising way for the conversionbased metal sulfides for the applications as fast-charging sodium-ion battery anode.

Nonlinear forced vibration in a subcritical regime of a porous functionally graded pipe conveying fluid with a retaining clip

This study examines the nonlinear behaviors of a clamped-clamped porous pipe made of a functionally graded material(FGM) that conveys fluids and is equipped with a retaining clip, focusing on primary resonance and subcritical dynamics. The nonlinear governing equations for the FGM pipe are derived by the extended Hamilton's principle, and subsequently discretized through the application of the Galerkin *** direct method of multi-scales is then used to solve the derived equations. A thorough analysis of various parameters, including the clip stiffness, the power-law index, the porosity, and the clip location, is conducted to gain a comprehensive understanding of the system's nonlinear dynamics. Through the analysis of the first natural frequency, the study highlights the influence of the flow velocity and the clip stiffness, while the comparisons with metallic pipes emphasize the role of FGM composition. The examination of the forced response curves reveals saddle-node bifurcations and their dependence on parameters such as the detuning parameter and the power-law index, offering valuable insights into the system's nonlinear resonant behavior. Furthermore, the frequency-response curves illustrate the hardening nonlinearities influenced by factors such as the porosity and the clip stiffness, revealing nuanced effects on the system response and resonance characteristics. This comprehensive analysis enhances the understanding of nonlinear behaviors in FGM porous pipes with a retaining clip, providing key insights for practical engineering applications in system design and optimization.

Few-shot learning for screening 2D Ga2CoS4-x supported single-atom catalysts for hydrogen production

The development of low-temperature solid oxide fuel cells(LT-SOFCs)is of significant importance for realizing the widespread application of *** has stimulated a substantial materials research effort in developing high oxide-ion conductivity in the electrolyte layer of *** this context,for the first time,a dielectric material,CaCu_(3)Ti_(4)O_(12)(CCTO)is designed for LT-SOFCs electrolyte application in this *** individual CCTO and its heterostructure materials with a p-type Ni_(0.8)Co_(0.15)Al_(0.05)LiO_(2−δ)(NCAL)semiconductor are evaluated as alternative electrolytes in LT-SOFC at 450–550℃.The single cell with the individual CCTO electrolyte exhibits a power output of approximately 263 mW cm^(-2) and an open-circuit voltage(OCV)of 0.95 V at 550℃,while the cell with the CCTO–NCAL heterostructure electrolyte capably delivers an improved power output of approximately 605 mW cm^(-2) along with a higher OCV over 1.0 V,which indicates the introduction of high hole-conducting NCAL into the CCTO could enhance the cell performance rather than inducing any potential short-circuiting *** is found that these promising outcomes are due to the interplay of the dielectric material,its structure,and overall properties that led to improve electrochemical mechanism in CCTO–***,density functional theory calculations provide the detailed information about the electronic and structural properties of the CCTO and NCAL and their heterostructure CCTO–*** study thus provides a new approach for developing new advanced electrolytes for LT-SOFCs.

NUMERICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF BEVELED TRAILING EDGE FLOW FIELDS

The characteristics of flow past beveled trailing edges attached to flat plates have been investigated numerically and experimentally. The test models used in the present study were two 2D blunt-faced flat plates having asymmetric beveled trailing edges of angles 27° and 60°. The numerical simulation results display an asymmetric wake behind the 27° beveled trailing edge and von karmen street vortices behind the 60° beveled trailing edge. The flow visualization using cavitation technique showed the same observations of the numerical simulation. Therefore, it is obvious that the trailing edge geometry has a pronounced effect on the wake development and vortex shedding. Also, it is concluded that the cavitation phenomenon can be used as a visualization technique at high flow velocities.

Dynamic behaviors of graphene platelets-reinforced metal foam piezoelectric beams with velocity feedback control

Graphene platelets(GPLs)-reinforced metal foam structures enhance the mechanical properties while maintaining the lightweight characteristics of metal foams. Further bonding piezoelectric actuator and sensor layers on the surfaces of GPLs-reinforced metal foam beams enables active vibration control, greatly expanding their applications in the aerospace industry. For the first time, this paper investigates the vibration characteristics and active vibration control of GPLs-reinforced metal foam beams with surfacebonded piezoelectric layers. The constant velocity feedback scheme is used to design the closed-loop controller including piezoelectric actuators and sensors. The effects of the GPLs on the linear and nonlinear free vibrations of the beams are numerically *** Newmark-β method combined with Newton's iteration technique is used to calculate the nonlinear responses of the beams under different load forms including harmonic loads,impact loads, and moving loads. Additionally, special attention is given to the vibration reduction performance of the velocity feedback control on the responses of the beam.

EFFECT OF FRACTIONAL ORDER PARAMETER ON THERMOELASTIC BEHAVIORS OF ELASTIC MEDIUM WITH VARIABLE PROPERTIES

This paper is concerned with the thermoelastic behaviors of an elastic medium with variable thermal material properties. The problem is in the context of fractional order heat conduction. The governing equations with variable thermal properties were established by means of the fractional order calculus. The problem of a half-space formed of an elastic medium with variable thermal material properties was solved, and asymptotic solutions induced by a sudden temperature rise on the boundary were obtained by applying an asymptotic approach. The propagations of thermoelastic wave and thermal wave, as well as the distributions of displacement, temperature and stresses were obtained and plotted. Variations in the distributions with different values of fractional order parameter were discussed. The results were compared with those obtained from the case of constant material properties to evaluate the effects of variable material properties on thermoelastic behaviors.

Potassium ions and cyano group modified g-C3N4 for effective generation of H2O2 through two-electron oxygen reduction

Potassium ions （K+） doped graphitic carbon nitride （g-C3N4） was prepared by a thermal etching method using potassium hydroxide （KOH） as an ion *** transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR） and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS）results showed that the generation of the cyano group was detected while introducing K+.Under simulated sunlight irradiation,the sample with a K+doping amount of 10%showed the highest hydrogen peroxide （H2O2） generation rate of2,140.2μmol *** apparent quantum yield （AQY） at 400 nm and the solar-to-chemical conversion （SCC） are 4.35%and1.23%,respectively.K+acted as a bridge between g-C3N4layers,which enhanced charge transfer ***,the cyano group enhanced the adsorption capacity of protons （H+） and promoted the yield of *** catalyst exhibited excellent photocatalytic stability based on four-cycle *** addition,a mechanism study showed that superoxide radicals （·O2-）were the most important active species in the reaction *** production of H2O2was achieved through consecutive single-electron *** study deepens the understanding of the oxygen reduction reaction process and opens up a new venue for improving H2O2generation.

Numerical simulation on trapping efficiency of steady filtration process in diesel particulate filter and its experimental verification

Taking wall-flow diesel particulate filter(DPF) as the research objective and separately assuming its filtering wall to be composed of numerous spherical or cylindrical elements, two different mathematical models of steady filtration for wall-flow diesel particulate filter were developed and verified by experiments as well as numerically solved. Furthermore, the effects of the macroand micro-structural parameters of filtering wall and exhaust-flow characteristic parameters on trapping efficiency were also analyzed and researched. The results show that: 1) The two developed mathematical models are consistent with the prediction of variation of particulate size; the influence of various factors on the steady trapping efficiency is exactly the same. Compared to model 2, model 1 is more suitable for describing the steady filtration process of wall-flow diesel particulate filter; 2)The major influencing factors on steady trapping efficiency of wall-flow diesel particulate filter are the macro-and micro-structural parameters of filtering wall; and the secondary influencing factors are the exhaust-flow characteristic parameters and macro-structural parameters of filter; 3)The steady trapping efficiency will be improved by increasing filter body volume, pore density as well as wall thickness and by decreasing exhaust-flow, but effects will be weakened when particulate size exceeds a certain critical value; 4) The steady trapping efficiency will be significantly improved by increasing exhaust-flow temperature and filtering wall thickness, but effects will be also weakened when particulate size exceeds a certain critical value; 5) The steady trapping efficiency will approximately linearly increase with reducing porosity, micropore aperture and pore width.
