We report the discovery of a peculiar X-ray transient,EP240408a,by Einstein Probe （EP） and follow-up studies made with EP,Swift,NICER,GROND,ATCA and other ground-based multiwavelength *** new transient was first detected with Wide-field X-ray Telescope （WXT） on board EP on April 8th,2024,manifested in an intense yet brief X-ray flare lasting for *** flare reached a peak flux of 3.9×10-9erg cm-2s-1in 0.5-4 ke V,～300 times brighter than the underlying X-ray emission detected throughout the *** and more precise follow-up observations by EP/FXT,Swift and NICER confirmed the finding of this new *** X-ray spectrum is non-thermal in 0.5-10 ke V,with a power-law photon index varying *** X-ray light curve shows a plateau lasting for ～4 d,followed by a steep decay till becoming undetectable ～10 d after the initial *** on its temporal property and constraints from previous EP observations,an unusual timescale in the range of 7-23 d is found for EP240408a,which is intermediate between the commonly found fast and long-term *** counterparts have been found in optical and near-infrared,with the earliest observation at 17 h after the initial X-ray detection,suggestive of intrinsically weak emission in these *** demonstrate that the remarkable properties of EP240408a are inconsistent with any of the transient types known so far,by comparison with,in particular,jetted tidal disruption events,gamma-ray bursts,X-ray binaries and fast blue optical *** nature of EP240408a thus remains an *** suggest that EP240408a may represent a new type of transients with intermediate timescales of the order of～10 *** detection and follow-ups of more of such objects are essential for revealing their origin.

Molecular simulation study of the microstructures and properties of pyridinium ionic liquid[HPy][BF_(4)]mixed with acetonitrile

The microstructures and thermodynamic properties of mixed systems comprising pyridinium ionic liquid[HPy][BF_(4)]and acetonitrile at different mole fractions were studied using molecular dynamics simulation in this *** following properties were determined:density,self-diffusion coefficient,excess molar volume,and radial distribution *** results show that with an increase in the mole fraction of[HPy][BF_(4)],the self-diffusion coefficient ***,the excess molar volume initially decreases,reaches a minimum,and then *** rules of radial distribution functions(RDFs)of characteristic atoms are *** increasing the mole fraction of[HPy][BF_(4)],the first peak of the RDFs of HA1-F decreases,while that of CT6-CT6 rises at first and then *** indicates that the solvent molecules affect the polar and non-polar regions of[HPy][BF_(4)]differently.

Generalized δ-entropy condition to Riemann solution for Chaplygin gas in traffic flow

The Riemann problem for the Aw-Rascle model in the traffic flow with the Delta initial data for the Chaplygin gas is studied. The solutions are constructed globally under the generalized Rankine-Hugoniot relations, the δ-entropy conditions, and the generalized δ-entropy conditions. A new Delta wave, which is called a primary Delta wave, is defined in some solutions. The primary Delta wave satisfies the generalized Rankine- Hugoniot relations and the generalized δ-entropy conditions. It generates initially from the Delta initial data, which either evaluates a Delta wave, whose weight becomes stronger and stronger, or disappears at a finite time.

Characterizing localization properties of two spinless electrons in a one-dimensional Harper model with concurrence

By mapping the Fock space of many local fermionic modes isomorphically onto a many-qubit space and using the measure of concurrence, this paper studies numerically the mode entanglement of two spinless electrons with on-site interaction U moving in the one-dimensional Harper model. Generally speaking, for electrons in extended regimes （potential parameter λ 〈 2）, the spectrum-averaged concurrence N（C） first decreases slowly as A increases until its local minimum, then increases with λ until its peak at λ = 2, while for electrons in localized regimes （λ 〉 2）, N（C） decreases drastically as λ increases. The functions of N（C） versus λ are different for electrons in extended and localized regimes. The maximum of N（C） occurs at the point λ= 2, which is the critical value in the one-dimensional singleparticle Harper model. From these studies it can distinguish extended, localized and critical regimes for the two-particle system. It is also found for the same λ that the interaction U always induce the decreases of concurrence, i.e., the concurrence can reflect the localization effect due to the interaction. All these provide us a new quantity to understand the localization properties of eigenstates of two interacting particles.

This paper considers the semiparametric regression model Yi = xiβ＋g（ti）＋ Vi （1 ≤ i≤ n）, where （xi, ti） are known design points, fl is an unknown slope parameter, g（.） is an unknown function, the correlated errors Vi = ∑^∞j=-∞cjei-j with ∑^∞j=-∞｜cj｜〈 ∞, and ei are negatively associated random variables. Under appropriate conditions, the authors study the asymptotic normality for wavelet estimators ofβ and g（·）. A simulation study is undertaken to investigate finite sample behavior of the estimators.

On a Class of Prime Entire Functions

In this note it is proved that entire functions of the form Fa（z）=H（z）-aα（z）where H andα are entire functions, with α having at least one zero, H＇ and α＇having no common zeros and T（r, α） = S（r, H）, are prime in entire sense for most values of a. The class of these functions is seen to contain examples of both periodic and non-periodic prime entire functions found by Noda, Qiao, Urabe and by Singh and Charak. Another result due to Singh and Charak will be improved as well.

Canted antiferromagnetic and optical properties of nanostructures of Mn_2O_3 prepared by hydrothermal synthesis

We have reported new magnetic and optical properties of Mn2O3 nanostructures. The nanostructures have been synthesized by the hydrothermal method combined with the adjustment of pH values in the reaction system. The particular characteristics of the nanostructures have been analyzed by employing X-Ray diffraction （XRD）, scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, energy dispersive X-ray （EDX） analysis, transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, high resolution transmission electron microscopy （HRTEM）, Raman spectroscopy （RS）, UV-visible spectroscopy, and the vibrating sample magnetometer （VSM）. Structural investigation manifests that the synthesized Mn2O3 nanostructures are orthorhombic crystal. Magnetic investigation indicates that the Mn2O3 nanostructures are antiferromagnetic and the antiferromagnetic transition temperature is at TN = 83 K. Furthermore, the Mn2O3 nanostructures possess canted antiferromagnetic order below the Neel temperature due to spin frustration, resulting in hysteresis with large coercivity （1580 Oe） and remnant magnetization （1.52 emu/g）. The UV-visible spectrophotometry was used to determine the transmittance behaviour of Mn203 nanostructures. A direct optical band gap of 1.2 eV was acquired by using the Davis-Mott model. The UV-visible spectrum indicates that the absorption is prominent in the visible region, and transparency is more than 80% in the UV region.

Relativistic degenerate effects of electrons and positrons on modulational instability of quantum ion acoustic waves in dense plasmas with two polarity ions

The nonlinear propagation of quantum ion acoustic wave（QIAW） is investigated in a four-component plasma composed of warm classical positive ions and negative ions,as well as inertialess relativistically degenerate electrons and positrons.A nonlinear Schrodinger equation is derived by using the reductive perturbation method,which governs the dynamics of QIAW *** modulation instability analysis of QIAWs is considered based on the typical parameters of the white *** results exhibit that both in the weakly relativistic limit and in the ultrarelativistic limit,the modulational instability regions are sensitively dependent on the ratios of temperature and number density of negative ions to those of positive ions respectively,and on the relativistically degenerate effect as well.

Resonant tunneling and quantum fluctuation in a driven triple-well system

The influence of parameters such as the strength and frequency of a periodic driving force on the tunneling dynamics is investigated in a symmetric triple-well potential. It is shown that for some special values of the parameters, tunneling could be enhanced considerably or suppressed completely. Quantum fluctuation during the tunneling is discussed as well and the numerical results are presented and analysed by virtue of Floquet formalism.
