The corrosion behavior of Ti-6Al-3Nb-2Zr-1Mo alloy:Effects of HCl concentration and temperature

Investigation about the corrosion behavior of Ti alloys in different ambient environment is of great significance for their practical ***,we systematically investigate the corrosion behavior of a newfound Ti-6 Al-3 Nb-2 Zr-1 Mo(Ti80)alloy in hydrochloric acid(HCl)ranging from 1.37 to 7 M,and temperature ranging from 25 to 55℃,by means of electrochemical measurements,static immersion tests and surface *** manifest that increasing either HCl concentration or temperature can accelerate the corrosion of Ti80 alloy via promoting the breakdown of native protective oxide film and then further facilitating the active dissolution of Ti80 *** to potentiodynamic polarization curves,Ti80 alloy displays a spontaneous passive behavior in 1.37 M HCl at 25℃,compared to a typical active-passive behavior under the other *** indicated by cathodic Tafel slope,the rate determining step for cathodic hydrogen evolution reaction is likely the discharge reaction *** apparent activation energies obtained from corrosion current density and maximum anodic current density for Ti80 alloy in 5 M HCl solution are 62.4 and 55.6 kJ mol-1,respectively,which signifies that the rate determining step in the corrosion process of Ti80 alloy is mainly determined by surface-chemical reaction rather than ***,the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy tests demonstrate that a stable and compact oxide film exists in 1.37 M HCl at 25℃,whereas a porous corrosion product film forms under the other ***,the critical HCl concentration at which Ti80 alloy can maintain passivation at 25℃can be determined as a value between 1.37 and 3 ***,the corroded surface morphology characterization reveals that equiaxedαphase is more susceptible to corrosion compared to intergranularβphase due to a lower content of Nb,Mo,and Zr in the former.

In this paper, we study the optimal production strategy of a production-inventory system with stochastic demand rate. This strategy is called a target level strategy, since it determines an optimal target inventory level and production rate level in the time period. The value function for developing the optimal production strategy is established, and the corresponding equation which is a fully nonlinear equation is derived using the dynamic programming principle （DPP）. The uniqueness and comparison principle of the viscosity solutions of related Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman （HJB） equation are proved. Finally, the numerical illustrative examples are discussed.

Piperine regulates the circadian rhythms of hepatic clock gene expressions and gut microbiota in high-fat diet-induced obese rats

The interplay between the host circadian clock and microbiota has significant influences on host metabolism processes,and circadian desynchrony triggered by high-fat diet(HFD)is closely related to metabolic *** this study,the modulatory effects of piperine(PIP)on lipid metabolism homeostasis,gut microbiota community and circadian rhythm of hepatic clock gene expressions in obese rats were *** Sprague-Dawley(SD)rats were fed with normal diet(ND),HFD and HFD supplemented with PIP,*** 9 weeks,rats were sacrificed with tissue and fecal samples collected for circadian *** showed that chronic PIP administration ameliorated the obesity-induced alterations in lipid metabolism and dysregulation of hepatic clock gene expressions in obese *** gut microbial communities studied through 16S rRNA sequencing showed that PIP ameliorated the imbalanced nicrobiota and recovered the circadian rhythm of Lactobacillaceae,Desulfovibrionaceae,Paraprevotellaceae,and *** fecal metabolic profiles indicated that 3-dehydroshikimate,cytidine and lithocholyltaurine were altered,which were involved in the amino acid and fatty acid metabolism *** findings could provide theoretical basis for PIP to work as functional food to alleviate the lipid metabolism disorder,circadian rhythm misalignment,and gut microbiota dysbiosis with wide applications in the food and pharmaceutic industries.

Introduction Lymphangioma is a rare benign tumor of lymphatic vessel origin. The tumor often appears in the head and neck region at a young age and can occasionally be found in the abdomen of adults with protean degrees of symptoms depending on the tumor size and location. How- ever, lymphangioma of the small intestine is extremely rare with only a few cases reported in the literature. As the tumor is not well-recog- nized, many patients with small intestine lymphangioma have been given an incorrect preoperative diagnosis. The ideal treatment for the disease is surgical excision, and the prognosis is comparatively good. In this paper, we report a rare case of ileal lymphangioma with gas- trointestinal hemorrhage preoperatively diagnosed using enteroscopy and treated with surgery.

Uncertainty-optimized deep learning model for small-scale person re-identification

In recent years, deep learning has developed rapidly and is widely used in various fields, such as computer vision, speech recognition, and natural language processing. For end-to-end person re-identification,most deep learning methods rely on large-scale datasets. Relatively few methods work with small-scale datasets. Insufficient training samples will affect neural network accuracy significantly. This problem limits the practical application of person re-identification. For small-scale person re-identification, the uncertainty of person representation and the overfitting problem associated with deep learning remain to be *** the uncertainty is difficult owing to complex network structures and the large number of hyperparameters. In this study, we consider the uncertainty of pedestrian representation for small-scale person re-identification. To reduce the impact of uncertain person representations, we transform parameters into distributions and conduct multiple sampling by using multilevel dropout in a testing process. We design an improved Monte Carlo strategy that considers both the average distance and shortest distance for matching and ranking. When compared with state-of-the-art methods, the proposed method significantly improve accuracy on two small-scale person re-identification datasets and is robust on four large-scale datasets.

Influence of Filling Medium of Holes on the Negative-Index Response of Sandwiched Metamaterials

We numerically study the negative index properties of sandwiched metamaterials, perforated with a square array of circle holes filled with different media. Transmission spectra indicate that the filling medium can effectively change the position of the localized resonant peak, while keeping the position of the other transmission peaks hardly changed. Reflection spectra and retrieved effective impedance verify that an appropriate choice of the filling medium can provide a perfect impedance match. Due to the perfect impedance match, the electromagnetic responses of the negative index band based on the internal surface plasmon polaritons change in many aspects, such as a stronger magnetic resonance, a higher figure of merit and a narrower negative refractive index band.
