Background Acupotomy,a more invasive procedure than acupuncture,involves the use of a thicker needle with an integrated knife at the tip,necessitating safety *** aimed to define relevant adverse events(AEs)and create a standardized form of the ACUPOtomy-related AEs CHECKlist(ACUPOCHECK).Methods Before conducting the Delphi process,a systematic review and pilot prospective study were conducted to gather information on previously reported *** these data,pilot versions of the ACUPOCHECK and Delphi questionnaires were *** Delphi questionnaire involved selecting types of AE for inclusion,establishing separate criteria for acupotomy-related AEs,and achieving a consensus on AE *** korean doctors with experience in acupotomy or AE research were recruited to participate in each Delphi *** was considered to have been reached if the critical value for the content validity ratio met or exceeded *** The final ACUPOCHECK was developed using four rounds of the Delphi method and one face-to-face consensus *** included 12 local AEs(pain,hemorrhage,bruise,hematoma,edema,pruritus,rash,infection,nerve damage,dysesthesia,movement impairment,and pneumothorax)and 14 systemic AEs(disease aggravation,needle fatigue,sleepiness,procedural nausea,procedural vomiting,procedural headache,procedural dizziness,sweating,procedural shock,syncope,dyspnea,procedural pain,sleep disorder,and postprocedural infection).Separate criteria were established for pain,hemorrhage and bruising:pain was defined as pain that occurrs during daily activities and persists for longer than 72 h,hemorrhage as bleeding that continues for≥3 min despite pressure application,and bruising as having a bruise with a diameter of≥3 ***-ended descriptions were allowed for AEs not covered by the checklist,and severity and causality were assessed using the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events and modified World Health Organization-Uppsala Monitoring C

Exercise-with-melatonin therapy improves sleep disorder and motor dysfunction in a rat model of ischemic stroke

Exercise-with-melatonin therapy has complementary and synergistic effects on spinal cord injury and Alzheimer's disease,but its effect on stroke is still poorly *** this study,we established a rat model of ischemic stroke by occluding the middle cerebral artery for 60 *** treated the rats with exercise and melatonin therapy for 7 consecutive *** showed that exercise-with-melatonin therapy significantly prolonged sleep duration in the model rats,increased delta power values,and regularized delta power ***,exercise-with-melatonin therapy improved coordination,endurance,and grip strength,as well as learning and memory *** the same time,it led to higher hippocampal CA1 neuron activity and postsynaptic density thickness and lower expression of glutamate receptor 2 than did exercise or melatonin therapy *** findings suggest that exercise-withmelatonin therapy can alleviate sleep disorder and motor dysfunction by increasing glutamate receptor 2 protein expression and regulating hippocampal CA1 synaptic plasticity.

Electroacupuncture inhibits hippocampal oxidative stress and autophagy in sleep-deprived rats through the protein kinase B and mechanistic target of rapamycin signaling pathway

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of acupuncture on learning and memory impairment, oxidative stress and autophagy induced by sleep depriv ation in rats, and to analyze the related ***: Thirty Wistar rats were randomly divided into a normal group, sleep deprivation group and acupuncture group. The rat model of sleep deprivation was established by a modified multiplatform sleep deprivation *** Baihui(GV20), Shenmen(HT7) and Sanyinjiao(SP6)acupoints of rats were located to give electroacupuncture(density wave, frequency 20 Hz, intensity 1 mA) to maintain the needle feeling, and to keep the needle for 15min and continuous acupuncture for 7 d. The spatial learning and memory abilities of the rats were detected by the water maze test. Clinical study on microscopic syndrome differentiation and traditional Chinese medicine treatment for liver stomach disharmony in chronic gastritis

BACKGROUND Chronic gastritis(CG)is a common gastrointestinal disorder characterized by inflammation of the stomach ***-stomach disharmony(LSD)syndrome is believed to contribute to CG *** To evaluate the efficacy and safety of microcosmic syndrome differentiation and Chinese herbal medicine(CHM)treatment in patients with CG and LSD *** Sixty-four patients with CG and LSD syndrome were randomly divided into two groups:The treatment group received CHM based on microcosmic syndrome differentiation and the control group received conventional Western *** treatment course lasted 12 *** primary outcome was improvement in dyspeptic symptoms,measured using the Nepean Dyspepsia *** secondary outcomes included the improvement rate of endoscopic findings,histopathological findings,and microcosmic syndrome scores and the incidence of adverse *** After 12 wk of treatment,the treatment group showed significantly greater improvement in dyspeptic symptoms than the control group(93.75%vs 65.63%,P0.05).No serious adverse events were observed in either *** Microcosmic syndrome differentiation and CHM treatment can effectively improve dyspeptic symptoms and endoscopic findings in patients with CG and LSD syndrome and have a good safety *** studies with larger sample sizes and longer follow-up periods are required to confirm the long-term efficacy and mechanism of action of this treatment.
