Dynamic Multi-Graph Spatio-Temporal Graph Traffic Flow Prediction in Bangkok:An Application of a Continuous Convolutional Neural Network

The ability to accurately predict urban traffic flows is crucial for optimising city ***,various methods for forecasting urban traffic have been developed,focusing on analysing historical data to understand complex mobility *** learning techniques,such as graph neural networks(GNNs),are popular for their ability to capture spatio-temporal ***,these models often become overly complex due to the large number of hyper-parameters *** this study,we introduce Dynamic Multi-Graph Spatial-Temporal Graph Neural Ordinary Differential Equation Networks(DMST-GNODE),a framework based on ordinary differential equations(ODEs)that autonomously discovers effective spatial-temporal graph neural network(STGNN)architectures for traffic prediction *** comparative analysis of DMST-GNODE and baseline models indicates that DMST-GNODE model demonstrates superior performance across multiple datasets,consistently achieving the lowest Root Mean Square Error(RMSE)and Mean Absolute Error(MAE)values,alongside the highest *** the BKK(Bangkok)dataset,it outperformed other models with an RMSE of 3.3165 and an accuracy of 0.9367 for a 20-min interval,maintaining this trend across 40 and 60 ***,on the PeMS08 dataset,DMST-GNODE achieved the best performance with an RMSE of 19.4863 and an accuracy of 0.9377 at 20 min,demonstrating its effectiveness over longer *** Los_Loop dataset results further emphasise this model’s advantage,with an RMSE of 3.3422 and an accuracy of 0.7643 at 20 min,consistently maintaining superiority across all time *** numerical highlights indicate that DMST-GNODE not only outperforms baseline models but also achieves higher accuracy and lower errors across different time intervals and datasets.

Radar Sea Clutter Suppression and Target Indication with a Spatial Tracking Filter

It is an important issue to study sea clutter suppression because it could interfere with the detection of targets above the sea surface severely. Spatial spectrum analyses show that the majority of sea clutter has low-frequency characteristics, compared to the high-frequency characteristics of the targets. This paper proposes a frequency-based spatial tracking filter to suppress sea clutter to facilitate targets identification. Experimental results show that the signal-to-clutter ratio can increase by more than 10 dB after filtering and the algorithm is feasible for practical use. In addition, the filtering equation can be optimized to maximize the signal-to-clutter ratio improvement. The equation parameters can also be adjusted to give a proper cut-off frequency for different targets and clutter.

Electromagnetic Force Balanced Single-Wheel Robot

It is a challenging task to carry on the research concerning the lateral stabilization of Single wheel robot(SWR). The lateral dynamics of earlier flywheel stabilizing SWR is derived to explain the shortcomings of such a mechanism, and the recovery torque proportional to the acceleration and moment of inertia of the flywheel is proved. But as the motor being a speed server system,it is difficult to control its acceleration to actuate the flywheel to provide recovery torque for SWR; and the moment of inertia of the flywheel must be large enough to produce adequate recovery torque, which makes such a system rather cumbersome. We proposed a new mechanism to solve the problem by introducing an electromagnetic force. The proposed mechanism is described briefly, and the dynamic analyses of such a new SWR is given, then the stability analysis is also done. Three-dimensional(3D)multi-body simulation, numerical simulation and physical invented pendulum prototype experiments were conducted to verify the proposed mechanism. The experiment results verified that the proposed mechanism is feasible and have some advantages over the flywheel balanced SWR.

An Evaluation Framework for Virtual Articulatory Movements Based on Medical Video

An important aspect of a Speech tutoring aimed talking-head system(STTS) is the accuracy of produced articulatory movements. Little work has been done for the Articulatory movements’ accuracy(AMA)evaluation in STTSs. Although subjective evaluation is reliable, it is time consuming and inconvenient. The traditional objective evaluation is comparing the motion of several points on the surface of the synthetic articulator to the Electromagnetic articulography(EMA) data which describes the motion of corresponding points on the articulatory surface of a speaker. The EMA information is too limited to describe the whole shape changing of deformable articulators for a speech process. To solve this problem, we propose a substantially different objective evaluation method based on a separately recorded medical video. The synthetic articulatory shapes in a speech process are compared to the corresponding shapes tracked from the medical video. This method is translation,rotation, and scaling invariant which allows the comparison of the shapes from the synthetic tongue and the medical images. The time difference problem of synthesis results and medical video is solved by introducing Dynamic time warping(DTW) to the proposed method. Experimental results demonstrate that our method has the ability to evaluate the deformation shape accuracy from an entire articulation process. The comparison results suggest that our method is more accurate than the traditional method especially for deformable articulators.

Histogram of the Oriented Gradient for Face Recognition

The histogram of oriented gradient has been successfully applied in many research fields with excellent performance especially in pedestrian detection. However, the method has rarely been applied to face recognition. Aimed to develop a fast and efficient new feature for face recognition, the original HOG and its variations were applied to evaluate the effects of different factors. An information theory-based criterion was also developed to evaluate the potential classification power of different features. Comparative experiments show that even with a relatively simple feature descriptor, the proposed HOG feature achieves almost the same recognition rate with much lower computational time than the widely used Gabor feature on the FRGC and CAS-PEAL databases.

Synchronized output regulation of switching networks based on synchronization observer

This paper studies the synchronized output regulation （SOR） problem of networked dynamic systems with switching topology that is uniformly connected and leader-rooted. In these networked systems, the tracked signal or the rejected disturbance is generated by the same exosystem, and however, the state of the exosystem is only available for leader nodes. First, a synchronization observer of the exosystem is proposed in this paper to overcome the difficulty caused by the unavailable state of the exosystem for follower nodes with directed switching information flow. It is shown that the observer state will synchronize to the state of the exosystem. Then, two feedback controllers based on decentralized dynamic error and state are presented to solve this SOR problem. Furthermore, the main idea in this paper will provide a promising way for realizing the multirobot systems＇ tracking and formation requirement. Numerical simulation results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results.

Non-Gaussian quantum states generation and robust quantum non-Gaussianity via squeezing field

Recent studies show that quantum non-Gaussian states or using non-Gaussian operations can improve entanglement distillation, quantum swapping, teleportation, and cloning. In this work, employing a strategy of non-Gaussian operations（namely subtracting and adding a single photon）, we propose a scheme to generate non-Gaussian quantum states named single-photon-added and-subtracted coherent（SPASC） superposition states by implementing Bell measurements, and then investigate the corresponding nonclassical features. By squeezed the input field, we demonstrate that robustness of nonGaussianity can be improved. Controllable phase space distribution offers the possibility to approximately generate a displaced coherent superposition states（DCSS）. The fidelity can reach up to F ≥ 0.98 and F ≥ 0.90 for size of amplitude z = 1.53 and 2.36, respectively.

Modeling Method and Application of Rational Finite Element Based on Absolute Nodal Coordinate Formulation

In multibody system dynamics, the absolute nodal coordinate formulation （ANCF） uses power functions as interpolating polynomials to describe the displacement field. It can get accurate results for flexible bodies that undergo large deformation and large rotation. However, the power functions are irrational representation which cannot describe the complex shapes precisely, especially for circular and conic sections. Different from the ANCF representation, the rational absolute nodal coordinate formulation （RANCF） utilizes rational basis functions to describe geometric shapes, which allows the accurate representation of complicated displacement and deformation in dynamics modeling. In this paper, the relationships between the rational surface and volume and the RANCF finite element are provided, and the generalized transformation matrices are established correspondingly. Using these transformation matrices, a new four-node three-dimensional RANCF plate element and a new eight-node three-dimensional RANCF solid element are proposed based on the RANCF. Numerical examples are given to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed elements. It is shown that the proposed elements can depict the geometric characteristics and structure configurations precisely, and lead to better convergence in comparison with the ANCF finite elements for the dynamic analysis of flexible bodies.

Coherent Control of Multiple 2nd-Order Quantum Pathways

The manipulation of two 2nd-order quantum pathways has been successfully demonstrated experimentally in atomic Rubidium. This work would explore the coherent control of pathways in the quantum system with N intermediate states connecting the initial and target states. A 4N-block scheme is proposed to control the N 2nd-order pathways which are driven by a weak broadband pulse. The model with N=3 is given as an example to demonstrate our strategy. In this scheme, boundaries of the spectral blocks are functions of the resonant frequencies, and the resonant and non-resonant contributions interfere mutually to achieve the quantum pathway control effectively. The simple strategy may provide a practical choice for pathway manipulation experiments since there are only 2N phase variables to adjust.
