AIM: To observe effects of propofol on nociceptive response at superspinal and spinal level in rats. METHODS: Two hundreds and fifty-eight Sprague-Dawley male rats were randomized into thirty-two groups. Propofol and bicuculline were microinjected into lateral ventricle (icv), ventrolateral periaqueductal gray (vlPAG), intrathecal (ith), and intraperitoneal (ip). The noxious responses were evaluated by hot plate and formalin test. RESULTS: In hot-plate test, systemic and superspinal administration of propofol (40 mg·kg-1 ip, 100 μg in 10 μL, icv, and 4 μg in 0.4 μL vlPAG microinjection) produced hyperalgesia (Padministration of propofol (40 mg·kg-1 ip, 4 μg in 0.4 μL, vlPAG) also produced hyperal- gesia (Padministration of bicuculline. CONCLUSION: GABAA receptor partly mediated propofol-induced hyperalgesia at superspinal and analgesia at spinal cord in rats.

Background:The pitfall of top-down approach to development is identified as a major cause of aid *** approach is fraught with corruption and unethical practices that have bedeviled aid ***,the impact of remittances has been widely acknowledged in the national development ***:This study therefore reviews the extant foreign aid administrative norms and practices using various conceptual frameworks and diagrammatic representations with a view to identifying the inherent weaknesses in the ***:In the light of the findings,the study pitches its tent around the concept of remittances as a learning process for aid ***,the pro-poor and gender focus approaches of remittances to development,as well as its bottomup approach is proposed as a conceptual framework for aid ***:The study concludes that,strict adherence to bottom-up approaches proposed in this article would keep corruption and other unethical practices which have rendered the aid administrative process inefficient,to the barest minimum.

Introduction:Interrelated social and ecological challenges demand an understanding of how environmental change and management decisions affect human *** paper out-lines a framework for measuring human well-being for ecosystem-based management(EBM).We present a prototype that can be adapted and developed for various scales and *** and managers use indicators to assess status and trends in integrated ecosystem assessments(IEAs).To improve the social science rigor and success of EBM,we developed a systematic and transparent approach for evaluating indicators of human well-being for an ***:Our process is based on a comprehensive conceptualization of human well-being,a scalable analysis of management priorities,and a set of indicator screening criteria tailored to the needs of *** tested our approach by evaluating more than 2000 existing social indicators related to ocean and coastal management of the US West *** focused on two foundational attributes of human well-being:resource access and *** and Discussion:Our results suggest that existing indicators and data are limited in their ability to reflect linkages between environmental change and human well-being,and extremely limited in their ability to assess social equity and *** reveal a critical need for new social indicators tailored to answer environmental questions and new data that are disaggregated by social variables to measure *** both,we stress the importance of collaborating with the people whose well-being is to be ***:Our framework is designed to encourage governments and communities to carefully assess the complex tradeoffs inherent in environmental decision-making.

OBJECTIVE To investigate whether piperine exerts the lipid-lowing effect by facilitating reverse cholesterol transport（RCT） that is a pivotal pathway involved in the transport of excess cholesterol from peripheral tissues to the liver for excretion in the bile and eventually the *** HepG2 cells were exposed to 0.6 mmol·L-1FFA（palmitic acid/oleic acid, 1:2） for 24 h for induction of steatosis before treated with or without piperine for an additional 24 h. Atorvastatin was used as apositive *** lipid deposition was analyzed by Oil Red O staining. Male ICR mice were randomly divided into 4 groups（n=15 each group）: normal diet（ND） group, high-fat diet（HFD） group, ND-piperine group, HFD-piperine group. Piperine（25 mg · kg-1） was administered by gavage for 8 weeks. Then levels of triglyceride（TG）,total cholesterol（TC）, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol（HDL-C） and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol（LDL-C）in the serum were determined using their test kits, respectively. Hematoxylin and eosin（H&E） staining was conducted to evaluate intrahepatic lipid accumulation. Western blotting and quantitative real time polymerase chain reaction（q RT-PCR） were performed to assess the expression of proteins and m RNAs correlated with RCT in the liver and small intestine, including ATP-binding cassette transporter A1（ABCA1）, scavenger receptor class B type 1（SR-B1）,ABCG1, ABCG5, ABCG8 and Niemann-Pick type C1 Like 1（NPC1 L1）. RESULTS Piperine markedly attenuated hepatic lipid deposition caused by FFA treatment in Hep G2 cells. Intragastric administration of piperine significantly reduced the plasma TG, TC and LDL-C, and slightly increased HDL-C（nostatistical significance） in HFD-fed mice. H&E staining revealed that piperine significantly decreased hepatic lipid accumulation compared with HFD group. BACKGROUND Rheumatoid arthritis(RA)is a common chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease with the main clinical feature of progressive joint synovial inflammation,which can lead to joint deformities as well as *** often causes damage to multiple organs and systems within the body,including the blood hemostasis *** reports have focused on acquired coagulation dysfunction resulting from vitamin K-dependent coagulation factor deficiency associated with *** SUMMARY A 64-year-old woman with a history of RA presented to our hospital,complaining of painless gross hematuria for 2 *** coagulation function tests showed increased prothrombin time,international normalized ratio,and activated partial thromboplastin *** blood coagulation factor(F)activity was detected(FII,7.0%;FV,122.0%;and FX,6.0%),indicating vitamin K-dependent coagulation factor *** and an activated partial thromboplastin time mixed correction experiment also suggested decreased coagulation factor ***,the patient was initially diagnosed with hematuria,RA,and vitamin K-dependent coagulation factor *** patient received daily intravenous administration of vitamin K120 mg,etamsylate 3 g,and vitamin C 3000 mg for 10 ***,oral leflunomide tablets and prednisone were administered for treatment of *** the treatment,the patient's symptoms improved markedly and she was discharged on day *** were no hemorrhagic events during 18 mo of *** RA can result in vitamin K-dependent coagulation factor deficiency,which leads to acquired coagulation *** K1 supplementation has an obvious effect on coagulation dysfunction under these circumstances.

Introduction: Infection Prevention and Control are scientific approaches and practical solutions designed to prevent harm caused by infection to patients and health workers. The study aimed to assess Infection prevention and control practices and determinants. Method: The hospital-based analytical cross-sectional study design was employed through a convenience approach. The SPSS version 26 was used for data analysis. Results: 72.5% of healthcare workers at Benjamin Mkapa Hospital observed not performing hand hygiene before direct contact with the patient or before the procedure and 60.3% observed performing hand hygiene after direct contact with the patient or after removing gloves. Professionals (Doctors, Medical attendants, and Nurses) were significantly practiced more in infection prevention and control by 2.860, 2.923, and 3.237 units respectively compared to pharmacy personnel. Conclusion: The sustainable availability of Infection Prevention and Control resources is important to enhance a healthy working environment. The current study has shown that the availability of Equipment and Supplies was 100% for gloves, face masks, and sanitizer. The multivariate results showed a statistically significant relationship between those trained in IPC and those more likely to practice IPC than those not trained.

OBJECTIVE:To assess the lipid-lowering activity and safety of a dietary supplement containing monacolin Kβ-hydroxy acid form(MKA),Heye(Folium Nelumbinis),and Cangzhu(Rhizoma Atractylodis Lanceae),compared to lifestyle ***:Totally 117 subjects with moderate to severe dyslipidemia(according to Chinese guidelines)and low CV risk were randomly assigned into three treatment groups:lifestyle modification(LM),LM plus a low dosage of MKA,LM plus a high dosage of MKA,and treated for 60 *** primary endpoint was the reduction of low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)and total cholesterol(TC).Safeties along with Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndromes were assessed through the ***:A low dosage of MKA along with lifestyle modifications caused a significant decrease in LDL-C by 15.6%on average(95%CI,9.6%to 21%)with,a decrease in TC by 15.3%on average(95%CI,9.26%to 21.4%),and a decrease in non-HDL-C by 35.4%(95%CI,25.76%to 41.34%).Weak evidence of a reduction of triglycerides but an increment of HDL-C was observed in patients with severe *** severe adverse events occurred during the ***:Our results confirm the LDL-C and TC lowering properties of MKA is clinically *** also produces a significant reduction of non-HDL-C,and slightly effects on TG and HDL-C as well.

Neuroinflammation and the NACHT,LRR,and PYD domains-containing protein 3 inflammasome play crucial roles in secondary tissue damage following an initial insult in patients with traumatic brain injury(TBI).Maraviroc,a C-C chemokine receptor type 5 antagonist,has been viewed as a new therapeutic strategy for many neuroinflammatory *** studied the effect of maraviroc on TBI-induced neuroinflammation.A moderate-TBI mouse model was subjected to a controlled cortical impact *** or vehicle was injected intraperitoneally 1 hour after TBI and then once per day for 3 consecutive *** blot,immunohistochemistry,and TUNEL(terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick-end labeling)analyses were performed to evaluate the molecular mechanisms of maraviroc at 3 days *** results suggest that maraviroc administration reduced NACHT,LRR,and PYD domains-containing protein 3 inflammasome activation,modulated microglial polarization from M1 to M2,decreased neutrophil and macrophage infiltration,and inhibited the release of inflammatory factors after ***,maraviroc treatment decreased the activation of neurotoxic reactive astrocytes,which,in turn,exacerbated neuronal cell ***,we confirmed the neuroprotective effect of maraviroc using the modified neurological severity score,rotarod test,Morris water maze test,and lesion volume *** summary,our findings indicate that maraviroc might be a desirable pharmacotherapeutic strategy for TBI,and C-C chemokine receptor type 5 might be a promising pharmacotherapeutic target to improve recovery after TBI.

The leopard moth （Zeuzera pyrina L）, is a cossid whose larvae bore into twigs, branches and trunks of various woody species, weakening and killing trees or shrubs. Recently it caused serious losses of apple trees in Syria. The flight dynamics of Z. pyrina was monitored by pheromone traps （first time in Syria） compared to light trap device. This study was carried out in Damascus countryside, Qunaytirah and Sweida provinces during 2007-2008. Results indicated that the flight of moths during 2007 started in early June in Damascus countryside and Sweida provinces. The highest number of caught adults （the highest peak） was concentrated in mid July in Sweida province, whereas in Damascus countryside province there were a high peak in mid June and a small peak in early July. On the other hand, flight of moths during 2008 started in mid-May in Damascus countryside province while in Qunaytirah province started in early June. The highest number of caught adults （the highest peak） was concentrated in late July in Damascus countryside, whereas in Qunaytirah province there were small peaks in mid June and mid July. Experiments conducted to evaluate capturing efficiency of different types of traps （pheromone traps and light trap） demonstrated that there was significantly high difference within the trap devices, wherein Capta trap got the best results and caught more males than the others.
